INTRODUCTION
The travel and tourism is the most growing business sector all over the world. The many
of the individuals and group of individuals are fond of travelling to the different destinations in
group of families or individually(Cheng, Petrick and O'Leary, 2011). The rise in the travel and
tourism have increase the emergence of the travelling agencies and businesses which provides
the facilities to the clients of accommodation, travelling tickets and many more. The increase of
this sector have lead to the development of tourist destination. The travel and tourism sector have
made good contribution in England of £106 billion to the economy of British and provides
employment to 2.6 million individuals in this sector. The TUI group(Touristic union
international) is the business working which is working in the tourism sector. It is the worlds
number one business in his sector. The business have the good tour operators, 1,600 travel
agencies and 6 tourist airlines with 150 aircraft's. The group has over 300 hotels providing
accommodation with 2,14000 beds, and 14 cruise lines. It provides services around all the
significant travel destination. The group was incorporated in this field in the year 1997 and
acquired Hapag-Lloyd the Germany's leading tourism company. The TUI group merged with the
UK's listed company named as First Choice Holidays PLC in the year, 2007.

1.1 Explain key historical developments in the travel and tourism sector
In the earlier time before 2000 years the individuals and the group of individuals who
were rich in the ancient Rome who where rich took the tours on coasts and country side to spend
there summers. This lead to the emergence of the tourist business. The rise in the tourists lead to
the fastest growth of the tourism sector. The growth of this industry lead to the increase the
interest of the individuals towards the tours to the different destinations and the arrangements of
the travellings where organised and planned by the tour organisers and the tours agencies. The
agencies and the organisers provided complete help for the journey in case of food,
accommodation in hotels etc. The planning and arrangements for the tours played the significant
role in the development of the travel and tourism sector(Dickinson and Lumsdon, 2010). The
new facility of the health and culture was emerged in the 18th century. The peoples with good
power in the terms of the money started visiting the new places such as the seaside and spa's. The
visitors were beneficial for the Europe for the spring waters and fresh airs. The people later

started taking the education trips to study the architecture and sculptures. The people started
visiting the Italy for learning paintings and started visiting historical place which helped them to
get the knowledge of the historical destinations. These helped the industry in the growth and
increased the competition in the industry(Dickinson, Lumsdon and Robbins, 2011). The
development in the technology helped the sectors to provide the services through the mode of
internet which helped to expand the industry and lead to the stable growth. The development of
the infrastructure in the tourist destination helped to attract the tourists which made positive
impact for the growth and profit earnings of the travel and tourism industry.
1.2 Explain the structure of the travel and tourism sector
There is a significant change in the structure of the travel and tourism sector from ancient
period to current. The new concepts to the structure have been added such as the roles of the
government bodies and private sectors. The services of accommodation, passenger service,
conferences and events and visitors attractions are the concepts added to the travel and tourism
sector. The TUI have good structure in the industry which provides many of the services to the
clients.
Travel planning:- The TUI group provides complete travel planning option to his clients. The
travel planning includes the complete plans of the tours which are opted by the clients. The
service include complete details of the journey.
Accommodation Services:- This is a services which is provided by all the sectors working in the
travel and tourism industry. The service help to provide facilities to stay while they are on tours.
In the accommodation facilities the sector provides food in the hotels. The TUI sector has 300
hotels with the accommodation of the 2,14000 beds in different countries.
Passenger transport:- The transport facilities are provided by the sectors functioning in the travel
and tourism sector. The conveyance facilities is provided for pick and drop of the clients. The
service can be provided through different modes such as railway transport, air lines and through
cruise. The TUI provide services through air lines and cruises. The group ha 6 tourist airlines
with 150 aircraft's and 14 cruise airliners.
Visitors attraction:- The visitors attraction is divided in two categories which includes man made
attractions and natural made. The ma made attractions include the parks and amusements parks
typically designed by the humans to attract the visitors(Hall, 2011). The attraction sites such as
beaches, mountains and valleys are considered as the natural made attracting sites.

The change in the political condition of the country have adverse effect on the tourism
sector of the country. The political instability within the country may lead to change the mind set
of the visitors and may cause to the fear in the minds of the visitors which may lead to the
decline in the number tourists within the country. The changes in the political policies of the
home country effects the travel and tourism sector of the other countries(Huang and et.al., 2013).
The good political conditions of the countries helps in increasing the number of the tourists
among the country which helps to increase the growth rate of the country as well as the earnings
of the industries. The safety policies helps to grow the travel and tourism sector with the huge
increase in the number of the visitors. The political decisions made by the government of the
country may lead to the significant rise in the sector. The polices of the UK helped to encouraged
the tourism and motivated to grow.

3.1 Factors affecting tourist demands.
The demands of the tourists are affected by many factor of the country which may affect
positively of negatively. The factors such as the political instability, taxation policy, interest
rates, currency exchange rate , demographics, technological, inflation etc. are some factors
affecting the demand of the tourists. This are explained as follows.
Political instability:- The political factor of the country are directly effects to the demand by the
tourists. The harsh political condition within the country will lead to the decline in the number of
the visitors which is not good for the economy of the country and for the travel and tourism
sectors. The political instability within the country arises the safety issue among the minds of the
of the visitors. The good political stability within the country helps to increase the number of
visitors which will help to increase the profitability of the organisations and the increase in the
GDP(Hung and Law, 2011).

Economic factor:- The economic condition of the country affect the demand by the visitors. The
inflation in the economy of the country will lead to decrease the purchasing power of the visitors
which is the negative impact on the travel and tourism sector. The inflation within the economy
will lead to the increase in the prices of the products and services which will decline the number
of the visitor in the country due to the low purchasing power and high prices for the goods and
services. The economic condition must be stable within the country which will help to increase
the domestic as well as international visitors.
Climatic factor:- The climatic factors directly influence the demand by the visitors. The good
climatic area of the destination will attract the visitors which will increase the demand in the
travel and tourism sector. The some of the destinations are the seasonal kind of which attract the
visitor only in the particular season which creates the more demand and in rest of the time the
demand is very low which affect the profitability of the travel and tourism sector(Law and
Buhalis, 2010).
Taxation policy:- The taxation policy is also the core factor affecting the demand by the visitors.
The high rate of taxation for the products and services among the country will directly decline
the demand in the travel and tourism sector by the visitors whereas the normal rate of taxes in the
country on the goods and services will help to increase the demand by the visitors.
3.2 How can be the supply changed to meet the demand
The increase in the number of the visitors directly lead to the increase in the demand by
the visitors in the economy for fulfilling the demand the supply must be regular by the travel and
tourism sector(Moutinho, 2011). The decrease in supply as compared to the demand will directly
lead to the increase in the prices for the travel and tourism services within the country. The
supply and the demand ,us go hand by hand i.e. the demand and supply should be equal. The five
factors modelled the supply which are accommodation, service, transportation, promotion and
information. The TUI group have to cope up with the demand in the target market by proper
supply.
Accommodation:- The demand can be increased by the for the accommodation by the visitors.
The demand for the accommodation have boom generally at the seasonal time whenever there is
rise in the number of the visitors. The TUI group must provide accommodation for all the
visitors who makes the demand. If the supply is less for the accommodation service the TUI
group must build the new hotels or rooms to meet up the demand.

for the services of the transportation. The supply can be increased by the TUI group to meet up
the demand arise by the visitors. For meeting up the demand the TUI group can increase the

Services:- The increase in the number of the visitors directly increase the demand for the
services of the travel and tourism sector. The supply of the services must be proper as per the
demand. For meeting up of the demand for the service TUI group must increase the number of
the employees in the group which help in providing the services within the time frame at the time
of rise in the demand.

4.1 The main positive and negative economic, environmental and social impact of tourism.
The are many factors which can lead to the positive and negative impact on the travel and
tourism sector. Some of the factors which have negative of positive impact on the sector which
are economical, social and environmental factors(Sigala, Christou and Gretzel, 2012). These
factors are described as follows.
Economical factor:- The economical factors have some negative factors and positive impact on
the travel and tourism sector. The positive impacts helps in increasing the GDP of the country
with the significant increase in the job opportunities. The positive impacts helps to increase the
lifestyle of the individual among the country. The seasonal tourism activity among the county is
the negative impact for the GDP of the country.
Social factor:- The social factor can influence the travel and tourism sector positively and
negatively . The TUI group has positive impact on the society it significantly provides
opportunities to the society individuals to introduce their culture and creativity in front of the
visitors. It has a negative point which came from other country such as drugs, visitors crimes
which negatively effects the society of the country.
Economical factor:- The increase in the number visitors have negative and positive impact on the
environment. The main negative point is the significant increase in the number of visitors which
leads to the harming for the environment. The TUI group acts significantly in promoting for the
safe environment.

4.2 Strategies that can be used to minimise the negative impact while maximising the positive
impact.
It is necessary for all the travel and tourism sectors to develop the strategies in order to
eliminate the negative impact on the sector because of the different factors. The strategies must
be developed to maximise the positive impacts on the organisation which is beneficial to increase
the brand image among the world and helps in sustainable growth of the sector. The strategies
will help the TUI group to work efficiently and effectively by overcoming the negative impact.
Strategies will make sure the smooth working of the organisation which will help in the survival
of the TUI group in the competition. For eliminating the negative impacts of the economy the
TUI group must formulate the management strategies for managing the local standards which
will help to manage standard of living of the individual(Sigala, Christou and Gretzel, 2012). The
TUI group must diversify the business to fulfil the requirement of the of the individuals in the
market. The strategy must be formed which helps to provide opportunities for the local
individuals to do communication about their heritage. The policy must be framed in such a
manner which will help the local individual and the visitors to get the more benefits which will
help in attracting the new individuals toward the destination. The promotion strategies must be
framed to make aware the individuals about the tourist destination which will help to increase the
visitors. The promotion strategy will help to promote the local arts of the country which may be
attraction for the visitors. The strategies must be developed for the development of the
infrastructure by the government which will help in the increase in the number of the visitors.
The strategies must be formulated by the TUI group to maximise the positive impact which will
be beneficial in development of the destinations(Sigala, Christou and Gretzel,2012).
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is being concluded that the travel and tourism sector works
significantly in development of the country. The many factors among the country have positive
and negative impacts on the travel and tourism sector. The TUI group have formulated certain
strategies to overcome from these impact and which helps in the success.
