INTRODUCTION
Tourism be one of the development sector where it contributes in the global economic
growth. World travel and tourism council show the importance of tourism industry for the
country. The travel and tourism consists of heritage sites, destinations, tourists spot and many
more. It also includes security of visitors at tourism place. In present situation travel and tourism
industry is at booming point where they can target the number of customers (Garín-Muñoz and
Pérez-Amaral, 2011). The government is also supporting this sector by providing various
opportunities to visitors as well as organisation. The present assignment is going to cover and
explain the history and development of tourism sector. Further it also explains the positive and
negative impact of tourism on the economy. Here TUI group travel and tourism company is
taken (Evans, Stonehouse and Campbell, 2012). It owns travel agencies, hotels, airlines etc.
Further the impact of demand and supply of visitors on travel and tourism is also explained.
TASK 1
1.1 Historical development in travel and tourism sector
TUI group is providing so many facilities to visitors and contributing the large amount in
GDP. this company serve the 23 million customers every year. It focusses on transforming their
business so they can serve more customer in a way that they deliver better services to them.
Tourism industry is one of the main industry in the world. World travel and tourism council
tourism industry creates the more than 10 percentage of the global economic output and it also
create the employment 1 in jobs worldwide (Leung and et. al., 2013). According to many
research it describes that the history and structure of travel and tourism industry influence
national and local economic policies and influence the international agencies local and national
government. There is both negative and positive impact of travel and tourism industry on supply
and demand of travel and tourism.
History of travel and tourism industry include the three different times bands which are as
follow
Before 1945 – In the year of 1945, at this time the people are not visiting the more place
because there were no proper infrastructure facilities. At that the people are also not aware about
the technologies which will save their time. The consumers are booking their tickets physical and
it waste their time.

1945-1979 – Between the year 1945-1979, there were so many technologies were
introduces like to do the online booking. Through this they are saving their time and money. At
this time the consumers are making trip to visit historical place to know about the culture of
different countries.
1980 to current – Nowadays people are making to trip to visits other place in order to
know about their culture. In modern era, the people can do online booking which saves their time
and cost and easily cancel their ticket also. TUI group is also making so many efforts in order to
provide quality of services to customers so that they can get the best experience.
Key elements of travel and tourism industry
1. Tour and travel industry departing the travellers
2. Providing services of traveller generating region
3. Transit route region
4. Services of tourist destination region
5. Providing services to returning travellers
Three other important component of travel and tourism industry are geographical
organisational and transport and include the environment: economical, technological,
physiological, social-cultural, legal and political (Lee and Brahmasrene, 2013). Tourist activities
and the tourism industry offers services good and facilities to tourist. it is the duties of tourist
industry towards public sector providing the healthy fair trading, safety and consumer interest.
Provide infrastructure to support transport facility such as roads and railways and ports. The
state tourism industry of travel and tourist department plays an important role of developing
advertising strategies offering opportunities to consult and corporate without the involvement of
privet sector. It also prepares the destination marketing strategies. These strategies prepare after
the identification of appropriate market and their need and wants.
The principle function of a ministry of tourism and agencies government control describe
as:
Implement new statics planning and research
Developing the marketing strategies
Effective development of tourism resources
Regulate and include the trade regulation
Providing the training and education

The organisation has to provide proper services regarding the infrastructure so that they
can have a good experiences. The private organisation has to support the tour and travel industry
in order to provide them a large amount of funds. Through this the travel industry will prove
more quality of services to visitors.
1.2 Structure of travel and tour industry
The travel and tourism industry is huge and one of the fastest growing industry.
Transportation facility is essential and one of the most important facility. In transpiration in
include airlines coach operators cruise liners railways, taxies, cars and car s rental company.
These facilities made up by the organisational which provide hotel facilities, accommodation,
food and beverages entertainment to the visitors who are travelling away from their home (Lee,
Law and Murphy, 2011). These facilities include the hotel services, resorts, apartments, camping
grounds etc. there are also many other sub sectors of travel and tourism industry which also
provide the important support services to visiting tourist. These sub sector include the tourist
information centres tour guide, travel insurance company, retail outlets, food and beverages,
entertainment outlets, councils.
Transportation: Transportation facilities are very important in tourism industry.
Transportation is very essential for tourist whether thy going to and from airports or taking the
tour. Transportation is very important for the tourists and the travel industry (Standing, Tang-
Taye and Boyer, 2014). The transportation facilities include

the public (Molz, 2012). The travel company segmented the services into inbound and outbound
providers. Tour company usually provide services to visitors with tours to specific attraction
such as day trip to the local regain.
