INTRODUCTION
Professional identity and practice means the development of skills and knowledge which is
required to undertake in the jobs. The professional practice includes the work which is required
to be done for the particular job role(Obasi, 2021). The professional development means the
skills and knowledge which is required for the development of the employee in a particular job
role and in the business. The development of the individual is very important as this helps them
in their career growth and career development by which the individual also feels much confident.
The major role of the professional identity and practice is just to provide the learning to the
people and help them in applying that knowledge into those particular business situations.
Portavadie hotel is located on the west coast of Scotland and provide range of services to people
which includes accommodation, spa, fine dining and many more. This report will cover
importance of ongoing professional development for enhancing professional identity and career
opportunities, assessing own skills for learning and development, development of a professional
development plan and the skills for job application.

Overview of the organisation
Portavadie hotel is a family owned resort which is located on the west coast of Scotland and
which is a luxurious hotel providing different kind of services to their guest. The hotel provides
to people with different kinds of services which includes fine dining, cool accommodation, spa
and also good food which involves different cuisines. The hotel not just provides the devices but
the people are also satisfied as they are providing to the people with best of the location and for
this people come to spend their time(Young, Hermida and Fulda, 2018). The hotel Portavadie is
located on the remote area but the location is juts excellent which makes people come and to
spend some time with their family and friends. The staff here is excellent who keeps the guest
satisfaction to be their prior responsibility and they provide the guest with the services of fishing,
cycling, golf and other types of sports. The rooms of the hotel are also excellent which is divided
into five categories which includes the lodge rooms, studio apartments, cottages, private saunas

and a hideaway retreat. The hotel services are such excellent and amazing which makes every
penny worth and people here who comes to spend their time goes with a great satisfaction.
Key benefits and importance of ongoing professional development
The professional development helps in increasing the retention of the employees when the
people in the particular place behave in a professional manner(Chambers and et. al., 2018).
Portavadie hotel employees and employers are professional and behave with the other people
with the professional manner which helps in increasing their respect.
Role of stakeholder in professional development – The role of stakeholder in professional
development is high because they are the one who motivate the employees to work harder for the
objectives of the business. The manager in the hotels main work is to support and provide the
employees with good feedback so that they can make the required changes. Portavadie hotel
managers do the same which helps the staff to develop the changes also the leaders sets the
objective which is required form the team as well form the staff because of which they
communicate them with the leaders which is useful in the development of their skills.
Benefits and importance of professional development for employer-
For the employer the development of professionalism is important because when the
employees will not be professional then the required skills in them will not be present. When the
employee will be professionally developed then they must be having the skills which are
required by the hotel. Portavadie hotel employers feel that if the employees will be developed
then they will not have to face any issue regarding the management. They also gets benefit
regarding the employee engagement towards the work and this helps in reduction of the
employee turnover.
Benefits and importance of professional development for employee-
When the employees will be professionally developed then they will feel by themselves
that they have become efficient and effective in the work. Professional development also helps in
building the confidence of the employees as they do not gets the feeling that they are less than
the particular person(Pitkänen and et. al., 2018). Portavadie hotel manager employees that people
who are professionally developed and if some things are lacking in that particular person then for
that they provide effective training.
