Introduction
Communication is the way of sharing feeling and transmitting messages to another. Two
important ways of information communications are oral and written (Business communication,
2003). These two information communication ways are used with proper business methods and
styles to attract customers, convince them, provide service and to do various organizational
work. In this report, it has discussed on various communication model such as Shannon
communication model. Each communication model has sender and receiver of the message.

Task 1 – Theory of communication
1. Communication models and systems used in businesses
Communication means having the transaction of messages between or among the individuals.
Through communication, people do share their views, opinion and feeling. In the business world,
communication is the key to its functions. It frequently needs to have communication and share
their goals toward the employees and consumers. There are several communication models
available from different authors.
Figure 01: Shannon and Weaver communication model (Edgeworth, H, 2008)
Shannon and Weaver communication model: Shannon and Weaver communication model.
This model has developed by American mathematician Shannon who has proposed a
communication model in 1940 (Hatch, R, 2002). According to his model, messages are
transmitted from sender to the receiver through electronic signals and devises. Shannon has
declared the first stage of messages as info source and then it through a transmitter and received
by reaching at destination. He also had added noise factor in the communication model. It is a
linear model of communication.
Circular model of communication: This model of communication has invented by Osgood-
Schramm and this model is developed by two-way street containing sender and the receiver. This
model of communication has proved that communication model cannot be a linear model only, it
also can be a circular. In this model, two parties attend in a communication model and take turns
sending and receiving a message.
Group Communication Model: Business communication needs group communication. It is a
key component in the business communication. Having a group in business is very essential for
