INTRODUCTION
The operations management is a field of management that is related with designing and
controlling the process of production; it plays a crucial role in the production of goods and
services and the business operations are also redesigned in this. In terms of using few resources,
it involves the responsibility to make sure that operations of business are efficient. The entire
production system is managed and the inputs are being converted into outputs. Here, the products
are produced, quality is managed and the services are being created by operations. The various
sectors such as customers, banking, hospital etc. are being covered by operations management.
Toyota PLC is well-known company in UK. It is a leading automobile manufacturer.
More than 10 million vehicles are being manufactured by this company. In this report, the roles
of both leader and manager will be defined and also comparison between them will also be done.
In context of the organisation, the examples of leader and managers will also be given.
Furthermore, in this report, various theories of leadership will be applied with respect to the
mentioned company. The key approaches to operational management will also be explained and
the importance in achieving the goals of the business will also be elucidated in this report
(Toyota PLC, 2017).

In any company, both manager and leader play an essential role. For different companies,
their role may vary but they are important for an organisation’s success. The roles of managers
and leader for the company Toyota PLC are as follows-:
Manager – In the direction of the predetermined goals and aims of the company, the work is
being managed and designed by the managers. The relevant strategies and polices are being
developed and planned in order to achieve the objectives of Toyota PLC. In accordance to the
tasks, the working of the staff and other employees is being planned by them. In order to manage
the tasks in different departments, the managers are distributed on various levels. With the
appraisal of the performance for Toyota PLC, the managers are also concerned and by them at
regular intervals, the process of appraisal is being performed. In order to achieve the objective of
business in an effective and efficient manner, manager is required to get all the resources
together. The wastage of resource has been minimised by them and through high utilisation of
resources, they increase the chances for attainment of goals. The objectives are being planned by
the managers and also they manage resource and control the work effectively in the organisation.
Leaders - By concerning the roles of the organisation, leaders get the work done from the
employees. In order to motivate and encourage the employees, the leaders play a vital role in
Toyota PLC. The visions of the organisation is been conspired by them through their leadership
skills and communication skills. In order to achieve the objective of the business they make
employees to work according to it. The employees are been influenced and inspired by the
leaders of the company. The wining strategies are been made by leaders and also the working
environment need to be understand by them (Akkerman Farahani and Grunow 2010).
Difference between leaders and managers
The roles of leaders and managers are often considered as interchangeable by the
company. In the function that is been performed by the managers and leasers there lies a
difference in order to get the work from employees in the organisation. As per the vision of the
organisation the task of setting up the objective is mainly performed by the managers of the
company. It is the duty of the leaders to communicate this vision to the employees and also to
motivate and encourage them in such a way that vision of the company becomes there own
visions.

P2: Examples of roles of a leader and manager in context of the company
In order to fulfil the goals of the organisation, the functions of managers and roles of
leaders work in a desired direction. To help the company in proper functioning of function of
management there are various function of management as well s different styles of leadership.
The company Toyota PLC , is facing the situation in which there are an increases in the fuel
price, material and equipment are also increasing on a faster phase. In such situation there is a
need that the functions of management need to be effectively implemented by the managers and
leaders need to plan and implement the strategies that would handle the price of manufacturing
to increase the sales and revenue for the company. On the management theories the operational
management of the company Toyota Plc mainly focuses and to cut down the cost of manufacture
the efforts of leaders are been combined (Greasley 2007). In order to deal with the current
situation for the increased cost of the purchase and production the contemporary theory of
management can also be applied to the company. The strategies such as choosing the suppliers
that would give raw material at low prices can be planned by the managers. In order to reduce
the cost of manufacturing the leaders can motivate the employees to adopt advance technologies.

With effective skills of communication the environment of trust can be created by the leaders
(Baldwin, Allen and Ridgway 2010). On the combined efforts of the managers and the
employees are been focused by management by objective theory in order to achieve the goals.
With the employees the manager will work and standards of performance are been set and the
duties to the employees are been delegated by the leaders .To do their task best they are being
motivated. In order to enhance the productivity the polices are been made by the managers by
using classical management theory. The strategy that is called as KAIZEN is been made by the
managers in which the effort are been made by the management and the employees to enhance
the production activities. In order to deal with the situation that is been faced by the company
contemporary theory of management can be used (Barratt, Choi and Li 2011).
P3: The different theories and models of approach
Although there are various leadership approaches but the three which can prove
most effective for the company can be situational, systematic and contingency. Situational
leadership is considered as that style of leadership in which the specific manager or leader tries
go on the level of the employees so that they can be able to make them understand easily and
smoothly.
Systematic leadership is considered as that leadership style in which the leader and
manager knows how to act as per the situation. So, it can be very instant but is considered as one
of the essential styles that can help the company.
Contingency is considered as that leadership style which says that there cannot be any
method that can actually help in solving the issues, it says it is completely dependent on the
parties inside the work place which can involve employees, authorities and staff members as
well. There should be a level of understanding between them.
Upon the skills and capabilities of the employees the style of leadership depends upon
situational leadership. In order to complete the task that is been given to the employees the
leaders need to influence the employees. With this kind of leadership the operational
management of Toyota Plc will be affected. As on different circumstances the different styles of
leadership will be adopted by the leaders. The issues of increased cost is been faced by this
company so in this following situation this situational leadership will play a major role in it
(Brown, Bessant and Lamming 2013).

The working of the employees will be controlled by the leaders by applying systems
leadership in Toyota Plc and the situation of the company can be controlled by them and
according to the requirement of the company the employees will be made to work accordingly by
leaders .For the fulfilment of the KAIZEN the strategies can be implemented and related to the
manufacture of cars in low cost let the operational department of employees improve the
activities. In sorting the issues of operational the management by objective plays and essential
role. The decision-making process is been shared by the employees .Among the employees the
motivation can be brought by management by object .They will feel that value is being given to
them in the organisation (Ergun and et. al., 2010).
CONCLUSION
In order to get better results, the theories of management operations and styles of
leadership can be applied in the company. The policies have been made by the managers and
these have been communicated further by the leaders and they also motivate and encourage
employees to complete their work effectively. In order to prevail a change in the organisation,
the contemporary theory can be used in this company. The various theories such situational
leadership theories along with management by objectives can be used by the company in order to
bring a change.

process. it is also play important role in operates business effectively in both sector least amount
pay of resource and use for long time and also doing meeting with customer and satisfy them.

Toyota PLC uses different types of approaches which are described as follows- Six Sigma – This approach is fully focused on the company’s product quality. His
strategy not only focused on the product quality is implement on measurement , planing
those improving and reduce wastage of material through six sigma improvement project.
It is also looking opportunities of business. This is also give sped with purity of
manufacturing product. It can also changes in management and develop according to
benefits of company. It is also increase customer satisfaction through [providing proper
non defective product and services (Grunig 2013).

It is a method by management and employees can involved continues improvement in
production of goods. This is also combination of product quality and management of
tools for increasing organization and reduce losses through waste of material. In this
including all type of function related to company like marketing, finance, product and
company design, engineering, customer services , productions etc. it ids try to meet
customer expectation and need with company goal and objective . It s also help to fulfill
commencement of management related to planing , checking , training, making new
strategy , performance measuring etc. it can through company take discussion fast
through statistical process, solve team problem etc. This can help in improving team
management, improves and maintain stander of business providing systematic

and they do work for social welfare they also follow rule and policy of government like
wages and salary , safety etc. in this leader make strategy to match with govt like
minimum wages , behavior do with employees, develop new and innovative ways that's
why they preform better. Leader are follows those plains. (Jeong and Phillips 2001).

confidence , satisfaction and positive influences. It tis change then their mind thinking is
also change so it can through company easily follow responsibility to manage
