INTRODUCTION
Dementia defined as set of symptoms that may inclusive of memory loss and difficulties
with problem solving, thinking or language. However, this results from variety of disease and
injuries that has huge impact on primarily and secondarily affect the brain such as Alzheimer
disease or stroke (Rabins, Mace and Lucas, 2018). Thus, this is disease that affects thinking,
orientation, calculation, learning capacity, motivation and social behaviour. In this disease, brain
function of highly get affected enough to interfere with person normal social and working life.
The present report is based on access the impact of dementia on mental health well-being
on children and young people. It has become world wide challenge due to its high prevalence
rate and no well known cure till date.
Furthermore, report will lay emphasizes on activities as frame aim and objectives on the
basis of given topic of research, the research methods will be defined and selected to undertake
reliable and valid research. Herein, data analysis will be collected with use of thematic analysis
to record and collate the data specifically. Lastly, report will conclude and provide measures to
raise awareness of dementia impact's among young people and children.

The present research is based is to investigate the impact of dementia on mental well-
being of children and young people. Thus, dementia is defined as condition that can negatively
affect the brain and may results into overall impairment of function of person (Williams and
et.al., 2016). This is disease that reduce the ability of patient to learn, recall and retain the past
memories or experiences. It is disease that has major impact on mental health of an individual.
It may have huge impact on person's life. However, any person who diagnose with
dementia may also experience range of emotions as loss, anger, fear, shock, belief and even
relief. Additionally, mental health and well-being can be crucial as physical health and well-
being for people living with dementia. This research will assist to researcher to gain depth
insights of dementia on mental well-being of children and young people.

their family to make sure that they are receiving the right care essential to fight against
disease.

Ethics are defined as norms or standards that aids to determine the distinguish between
right or wrong. This is defined as one of the most crucial aspect of research study. However,
researcher must take informed consent before disclosing any information relate with research
study (Farrell, Katz and Helme, 2015). In order to ethically perform the activities, this is crucial
to respect for anonymity and confidentiality to information. To maintain the reliability and
validity of research, this is crucial to undertake research in ethical aspects.

This aids to provides the comprehensive study to whole research. It provides the depth

Effects of dementia on well-being of young people
Dementia is disease that can lead to memory loss and confusion, individual may loss of
skill as language and communication as well as personality and behaviour change. As per the
view of Caddell and Clare, (2018) stated that dementia can lead to wide number of condition
that can cause progressive decline in mental functioning. Additionally, this is disease that has no
treatment to cope up with dementia. In contrary to Myers, (2018) stated that dementia hinder the
ability of brain to sequence, plan and organise multiple step activities.

nutrition intake.
Healthy diet aids to have high degree of nutrition and this aids to maintain healthy life to
an individual. As per the view of Farrell, Katz and Helme, (2015) stated that health diet can be
called as own brand of fuel that brain need to perform effectively. Healthy diet aids to improve
heart health, lower the risk for cancer, disease and diabetes issues and keep the mind of
individual healthy.
In contrary to Caddell and Clare, (2018) stated that this is crucial to change the dietary
habits and to eat more of the food that supports to boost memory and improve the chance of
enjoying all around health. Thus, continuous taking of nutritious diet may aid to prevent wide
range of disease and person can able to live younger and health life.
Role of nurses to educate family about the impact of Dementia on daily living of affected
young people and children.
Medical practitioner needs to provide treatment, support and care to people who are
suffering with mental health issues and dementia (The nurse’s role in caring for people with
dementia, 2018). Quality of care taken by nurse and family may improve the quality of life of an
individual. As per the view of Myers, (2018) stated that nurse must educate family member
about the impact of disease so that precaution to the risk can be taken.
Additionally, it can be stated that with active listening, empathy and with help of
providing the right environment to individual with dementia can assist to nurses to build
therapeutic relationship. In contrary to Myers, (2018) stated that Nurses has fundamental role
promoting the health and prevent illness with help of promoting the greater awareness and
education to family and affected individual.

3.3 Selected method for research
Researcher for performing the investigation on specific topic “ analysing the effect of
dementia ion health of children and young people ” has applied the different methods these
are :
Research type: Researcher has conducted the qualitative research in order to gather the
information about the effect of dementia on health of children and young people. The qualitative
research has been performed by investigator for developing the detailed understanding about
subject.
Research design : Explanatory research design has been applied by researcher for performing
the qualitative research for analysing the impact of dementia on young people and children.
Reason because of which investigator has selected the explanatory research is that it provides
ease in explaining the phenomenon or situation.
Research approach : In context of study on identifying the effect of dementia on health of
young people and children, researcher has sued the inductive research approach. Specific
research approach has been selected by investigator in present study, as it enables them to
develop the understanding about cause and effect (Croucher,2019). In addition to thus,
inductive approach also assist researcher in addressing the root cause of the problem.
Research philosophy: Interpretive is the research philosophy which is utilised by researcher in
present investigation on topic effect of dementia on health of young people and children.
Specific research philosophy has been utilised by investigator because it allows them to
developnew theory using the facts collected.
Sampling: 30 Registered medical professional has been selected as participants in the
investigation procedure in order to gather the information about the impact of dementia on
health of children and young people. Random sampling technique has been applied by
investigator as it assist in eliminating the biases.
Data collection : Information about the topic effect of dementia on young people and children
has been gathered from both primary and secondary sources. Questionnaire has been designed
for collecting the facts related to the subject (Kumar, 2019.). Particular technique has been used
as it is less costlier as compared to other methods of data collection.
Data analysis: Qualitative technique has been applied by researcher for analysing the
information . In addition to this, thematic analysis has been done as it provides researcher an ease

mental well as this is disease that is usually progressive in nature. It overall affect the sense of
thinking of an individual.
However, present research study has taken the sample size of 30 respondents as medical
practitioner. Among this, 22 said yes, 6 stated no and 1 has no clue about it.
