Introduction
The term responsive design is defined as a process that makes web
pages render effectively on a variety of devices and screen sizes. Such kind
of approach is mainly used in the web design which suggests that design
should respond to the consumer’s nature and environment based on the size
of screen and orientation. It is observed that the practice involves in the
responsive web design contains flexible grids, images, intelligent utilization
of CSS media queries and layouts of the developed web page (Baturay, &
Birtane, 2013). The purpose of this research is to identify the key features
of responsive web design and evaluate current and future development in
responsive web design. A website develops with responsive web design
adapts the layout to the viewing environment using proportion-based grids.
The major focus of this research is to analyze the current and future
developments in responsive web design.
Responsive design
Bridges, & Rempel, (2013) stated that responsive design is a kind of
approach which makes web pages in an effective manner and suggests the
effective strategies for improving platforms and orientations of the
websites. It is observed that responsive design has been about for some
years now which were the major topic in the year 2012. With the help of
responsive web design process, the consumers can receive larger pixel ratio
and manage the size and performance-related issues. Most of the designers
reported that using responsive design process in the workplace can help the
companies for developing appropriate and better web pages.
The major objective of the responsive design is to have one website
but with various factors which respond differently when seen on systems of
various sizes. However, if a website utilizes responsive design, the tablet
version might automatically control and manage the display which is a

major feature of the responsive web design. A recent study examined that
responsive design mainly utilizes fluid grids where all page elements are
sized using proportion as compared to the pixels. There are various kinds of
issues occur in the responsive design approach including touch-related
problems, application-related issues and download version. It is identified
that responsive design makes utilization of effective layouts, cascading style
sheet and flexible images.
It is a somewhat retro process which is able to solve design-related
problems caused by the proliferation of advanced mobile networks and
systems. Responsive design pages mainly utilize X and Y coordinates on a
grid for layout and mathematical % for the pictures rather than fixed-width
factors. Moreover, using such kind of process responsive design can
produce an effective fluid layout that will resize itself in order to fit the size
of the website’s display. Bryant, & Jones, (2012) identified that the term
responsive web design is the combination of flexible grids, media queries
and flexible pictures which helps the consumers for reducing overall
complexity from the system and manage the entire features in an effective
manner.
Moreover, such kind of process allows the company’s websites to
adapt to the system where the users view the functions and services of the
organization. Responsive design may be obtained in the major three stages
including a flexible grid-based structure, allows flexible media and the
accumulation of media queries and problems. Therefore, it is reported that
with the help of responsive design the companies can control and manage
size-related issues and enhance the overall performance of the developed
systems. It is very important for the developers to focus on the pixels and
size of the website as it attracts consumers and manages overall processes
(Carver, 2014).
