Introduction
Origin of ethics can be traced back to the times when businesses were existed only for the
objective of profit maximisation at any cost, as there were no economic values both for the
people who were working and society that allowed business to flourish. In the modern era, each
and every organisation put forwards the interest of all the stakeholder before profit maximisation
and aims at deliver value with minimal impact over people and planet. Businesses are
considering their responsibility towards the society and the nature which is known as corporate
social responsibility (Johnson, Hansen and Bi, 2018). It is the legal and ethical way of
conducting business activities while preserving the interest of all stakeholder involved in the
business operations. Organisational ethics or business ethics can be defined as the way how firm
respond to the internal and external stimulus. Further mentioned report covers meaning of ethics,
how cultural and environmental issue influence business ethics, skills required to ensure people
are treated with dignity and understanding of collaborative working practices.

Explain the term ethics along with the factors that influence ethics
Ethics is a term which is derived from a Greek word “ethos” which means character, custom or
habit. Ethic can defined as the moral principles of an individual which affect their decisions. It a
self-consciousness of what is good or bad, what is right or wrong; that directs the behaviour of a
person. Ethics, sometimes is also referred to as moral philosophy which is concerned with what
is good for the society and what is not. Business ethics are the set of rule, principles and code of
conduct that prevents the companies and individual from engaging in lay of the illegal activity
such as discrimination, insider trading etc. Ethics determines what is right, wrong and
appropriate in an organisation and helps in guiding the behaviour of an organisation (Bozkurt
and et. al., 2020).
Factors that influence Ethics
Personal code of conduct: Each and every individual have their own set of values, norms an d
belief that govern their behaviour and help them in making decision what is right, wrong or
appropriate. These personal values and beliefs sometimes affects the works ethics and determine
their way of doing business.

Government rules and regulations: Government laws and regulations are supported by the laws
with regard to the employment, customer, workplace safety, etc. These rules and regulations
provide guidelines to the businesses in determining what is socially acceptable and what is not.
Social pressures: Consumers itself and other institutions exerts pressure of business firms to
conduct business activities in a socially and ethically acceptable manner (Järlström, Saru and
Vanhala, 2018). Due to the growing concern with regards to the environment people are
becoming more aware about the sustainability and ethical ways of doing business while having
low impact over plant and people.
Explain why workplace ethics are important in an organisation supporting with the help of
example
Business ethics plays a significant role in managing and running a business operations in
an easy and convenient way without any hurdles and difficulties. Business ethics consists of all
the values and principles that guide and regulate the behaviour of an individual and business
itself. While operating in a market businesses must keep the balance between desires of making
profit and delivering values to the stakeholders.
Importance of Business ethics
Protection and Assurance of Assets: With strong ethical working culture and environment helps
the companies in reducing cost of maintenance as employees are well aware of the duties, roles
and responsibilities, therefore employees abiding by the workplace ethics protects and respect
the assets of business. Workplace ethics helps the company in safeguarding the assets as
employees are aware the assets are most valuable investment of the company and does not harm
and damage the property, machinery and equipment. Additionally, employees make efficient
utilisation of resources as well contributing towards sustainability and productivity of business.
Productivity and team work: Business ethics plays a crucial role enhancing the productivity and
team work of employees at workplace. Through open communication business align values of
business with that of each worker that helps in increasing the integrity, commitment and
openness among employees (Cresswell and et. al., 2019). Employees with works ethics value the
work given to them and they attain the target within the stipulated period of time.
Public image: Business ethics enables the companies to conduct business activities in a societal
acceptable manner that enhances the brand image in a market. Company’s contribution towards
corporate social responsibility and sustainable way of doing business create a public image
