INTRODUCTION
Ethics are the code of conduct which gives the idea of a person and an organisation that
take a decision by analysing what is right or wrong (Wharton and Burg, 2017). Ethics are
applicable in every state as it assist in addressing issues related to right and wrong. It is the study
of right and wrong. It is very important for organisation that they should focus on their ethics.
This report shows the importance of ethics and their applicability in workplace.

A) Explain what is meant by the term
‘ethics’. In explaining ethics, also
discuss the factors that influence
ethics
Ethics are important and are defined
in various ways by different people. Ethics
tell what is wrong and what is right (Segun,
2021). It is vital that all the business
organisation have proper understanding of
business ethics as they affect the
organisation at various stages.
Ethics can be defines as a brand of
philosophy that is concerned about solving
the problem associated with what is right
and wrong (Achilli, 2018). In relation to
businesses the “code of conduct” comes
under ethics (Luu, 2017). It is vital for every
business organisation to follow business
ethics to operate effectively in the market
(Soulsbury and et. al., 2020). Business ethics
is the study related all some important
aspects such as corporate governance,
bribery, insider trading, discrimination,
fiduciary responsibilities and corporate
social responsibility (Burr, Taddeo and
Floridi, 2020). Business ethics build trust
among customers for the organisation (Tang
and et. al., 2019). It is vital for all the
organisations to know about the guidelines
and follow them. The factors that influence
ethics are discussed below:
Culture: Culture includes norms,
beliefs, customers of group of people. There
is direct impact f culture on the ethics of an
organisation. As it depends on the culture
that can the superiors questions the
subordinates directly or not. For example,
Unilever change their structure so the
company so that they van improve culture of
organisation and reduce cultural issues.
Personal Code Of Ethics: This shows
the set of principles that are followed by the
organisation (London, 2021). As they have
direct impact on the decisions taken by the

organisation. It helps to decide what is right
and what is wrong.
Legislation: This includes the laws
that are followed by the company. If a
decision is illegal in the country then it also
unethical for the company to do the same
(Van Dijck, Poell and De Waal, 2018). This
shows that there is influence of legislation
on the ethics.
Rules And Regulations: The rules
and regulations that are formulated by the
industry are important and should be
followed by the company. It is important for
the business organisation to follow them.
Social Pressures: It is vital for
business organisation to know about the
environment and affect of their business on
society (Nicholson and Kurucz, 2019). It is
also considered s ethics to take care of
environment and have positive attitude
towards the environment. For example,
Unilever introduce their aim in order to
improve green practices due to the pressure
of social responsibility.
B) Importance of workplace ethics.
It is identified that day to day
increase in scandals of large organisations
such as Google, Tesla, Facebook and NHS.
It is very clear that culprit of these scandals
are all these big organisation. So they should
be accountable for their all activities. For
example, Google face big scandal as their
top executives faced allegations of sexual
harassment (Giacomarra and et. al., 2019).
When any scandal was found then it will
depend on the company that how they react
or respond with that scandal. It is very
important for an organisation that they
should understand the importance of ethics
so that these types of scandals are reduced
and organisations can take necessary
corrective actions (Lauria and Long, 2017).
It is identified that if organisation act
according to their ethics then they get many
benefits with the help of ethics (Schmidt and
Engelen, 2020). It is very important for
organisation that they should focus on
increasing ethics in organisation so that they
can reduce scandals. Importance of ethical
behaviour in Facebook:
It increases employees performance
if Facebook's employees can perform
their duties and responsibilities with
ethical behaviour.
Workplace ethics make ensure that
they make a positive environment in
organisation. Workplace ethics make
employees happy and satisfied them
as they are not feeling any burden
because of use of ethics (Joynes,
2018). It increase job satisfaction in
employees.

Equality and diversity, 2010
Equality and diversity law is the law
that helps to protect the right of individual in
respect of inequality in workplace. There are
116 legislations that covered under this law
which assist in protection of employees.
This law protected rights on the basis of age,
disability, race, religion, gender assignment,
etc.
As per the Act all the individuals that
work in the organisation have equal nights.
It is important that all provided equal
opportunities and are not discriminated on
any ground. There are various grounds such
as colour, religion, caste, background and
gender that are protect under this act (Kisby,
2017). Discriminating any two employees is
against the code of conduct and is
considered unethical. In relation to Unilever,
the company has its own code of conduct
and the company follows ethical values
(Carrington and et. al., 2020). This shows
that the Unilever should take care of this law
and work as per the ethics. It will help the
company to operate effectively.
Hygiene of Foodstuffs Regulation
Hygiene of Foodstuffs Regulation is
the law that make by HACCP. It was
recommended by World Health
Organisation in 1990s but it make a act in
2006. this law makes sure about safety of
food products that sell by organisation

important for Unilever because they sell
food products to their consumers that need
to be safe. These laws are very necessary for
an organisation that they should follow. This
act is made on the basis of food safety in
which the regulatory focuses on food quality
that is consumed by consumers. They check
their food quality in the labs so that they can
ensure about safety of their food packets.
Consumer have a right with the help of this
law that they put question for food safety.

It is identifying that in nowadays organisation take a good initiative in respect of increase
the ethical behaviour so that they can achieve sustainable growth in the organisation. There are
many examples that shows that many organisation take a good step in respect of socially
responsible efforts (Payne, Frow and Eggert, 2017). As it is identified in TOMS mission that
they are focusing on donation of shoes so that they can act more social responsible. In other
hand, Starbucks set their objectives in respect of hiring 25000 veterans so that they can diversify
their business which assist in acting more responsible. It gives the reflection on the business
practices that they perform CSR practices. These efforts of the two businesses reflect their
corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices.
One important initiative that taken by TESCO is that they produces goods and services
with renewable resources (Kish, 2018) so that they can achieve their aim of sustainability
growth. They set their aim in order to reduce the waste so that they can get successful in the
market and leads in sustainable growth. There are some obligations in which organisations need
to perform social responsible in order to increase efficiency in the organisation (Agudelo,
Jóhannsdóttir and Davídsdóttir, 2019). All obligations that should be considered in ethical
practice are mentioned below (Husni, 2020):
There are many legal and moral duty towards society that should be fulfilled by company
in order to become a social responsible organisation.
They should make sure that their products and services do not harm any person and other
organisation.
It is very important for them that they reduce waste and try to reduce emission of carbon
gases.
As society provide natural resources to the organisation in order to transform raw
material into finished one then it is the duty of organisation that they should provide best
quality of goods and services (Hermelingmeier and Nicholas, 2017). In respect they
should be make sure about all legal terms and responsible towards environment.

B) Mention 5 rules the public and your clients expect of you as an employee in the organisation.
As per the new employees, they are unable to know all information about organisation.
So they face many issues in the organisation that are mentioned below (Gond, Cabantous and
Krikorian, 2018):
They do not have any knowledge about culture of organisation so that they face problems
in order to mange their activities.
They face a issue of stranger as they are fresher and that's why they are unable to perform
their duties as compared to existing one.
They have no knowledge about legal activities in the organisation.
From the above discussion it is very clear that new employees faces many problems as
they are fresher. But for that purpose they need to know about 5 important rules which they
should be follow in the organisation (Martinuzzi and et. al., 2018). All important 5 rules are
mentioned below that they should be follow:
It is very obvious that employees should know about some basic term because of their
previous experience. But still it is very important for organisation that they should
explain all things about organisation.
It is the duty of an employees that they should be honest with everything in organisation.
It is not just the duty of individual but also it very important for organisation that they
should not disclose anything form their employees.
Employees should be professional in their organisation in which they have to punctual
and moral duty of completion of work (Leurs, 2017). It is necessary that organisation
provide such an environment in which they can perform their work.
It is identified that for encouraging new employees organisation need to keep eye on their
performance so that they can give prize in their achievement. It is very important that
employees should be perform better.
Employees have to keep time management so that they can complete their task ion time.
Organisation provide particular time to employees.
These mentioned rules should be followed by employees so that they can adopt the new
organisation which gives a positive impact on organisation. As they can get their performance

C) Describe the legal rights people have in relation to GDPR.
It is identifying in the new world that every person is now facing a issue of data privacy
as their trust is breached by companies. But for the purpose of securing data of individual and
organisation GDPR Act replaced Data Protection Act, 1998 because of some amendments in the
rules and regulations of organisation in respect of data privacy. GDPR replaced old version of act
with new amendments. Their new amendments gives many rights to the customers so that they
can protect their privacy.
It is the duty of every organisation that they need to provide a trust or loyalty in terms of
protection of their data (Taylor and Pagliari, 2018). GDPR gives power to an individual that they
can access their data personally that means no one can access their data without their permission.
GDPR Act gives many rights to an individual in respect of their data. All rights are mentioned
below (Perera and et. al., 2019): Right of access: It is very important for an individual that they should access their data
privately as no one access their data. It is beneficial for an individual because it reduce
the risk of misuse. Right to rectification: They have a option and rights that individual can rectify their data
when they want. It is very beneficial for them that they can easily use and modified their
data. Right to erasure: If any individual found any problem in their data then they have a
option to erase them. It assist in taking their decision that no one can use their data. When
someone find that they do not need a data so they have an option to erase them. Right to restrict processing: This right helps them that to restrict anyone who can access
their data. It is very important for an individual that they should know about their right
because it is the important right which gives power to restrict any one for accessing their
data.
Right to data portability: It is the right in which individual can portable their data fin any
where in the world. It is a very important because if they need their data then they have a
right to portable their data.
With the help of GDPR Act, individuals, society and business fell more safe because they

for organisation that how they can deal with them. It is necessary for an organisation that they
need to work in a collaborative approach so that employees can work accordingly and achieve
their objectives (Lim and Loosemore, 2017). If organisation want that they can get success and
growth in the market so they need higher efficiency and productivity of employees (Theodoulidis
and et. al., 2017). They get productivity with the help of collaborative working conditions in
which each employees help to other one (Rizani and Oktafien, 2020).
Collaborative working is the state in which employees of organisation are ready for
working with two organisation so that they can grow more in the market place (Lynskey, 2017).
They always support people in order to solve their issues and motivates towards accomplishment
of goals and objectives. It integrates individual with organisational goals. It assist in boosting
morale of employees so that they can give their best and high level of productivity in the
organisation. Every company wants that they decrease the employees' turnover ratio, it can be
possible with the help of collaborative working. It helps all people in the organisation that they
can learn for each other. With the help of communication between people many problems and
issues can solve automatically. It helps in making the employees more efficient and effective
(Busser and Shulga, 2018). It assist in making a better teamwork in which all employees work
together in order to achieve a common goals. One important benefit of collaborative working is
innovation. One important example that shows the importance of collaborative working is Apple.
It is the organisation that run their business with a lead in the market only because their
employees are working in a collaborative working conditions and try to innovate something new.
It creates better understanding between employees and superiors. But it is suggested to the
organisation that they should use collaborative working very effectively. Strategies are
mentioned below:
Share company's mission to the employees as it assist in giving the information about
what they have to perform and in what order so that they can accomplish their goals.
Encouraging creativity is helpful in achieving efficiency in the organisation. It is very
important for an employees that they get motivation towards creativity. With the help of

creativity organisation can build new strategies and plans and achieve organisational

Invest in collaboration tools so that they can build collaborative working. It assist in

Apart from strategies, it is very necessary for an individual that they should have some
values. Values assist in guiding employees such as loyalty, open mindedness, consistency,
dependability, honesty, efficiency, etc. These values helps in guiding towards achievement of
organisational goals and objectives. Values make the successful collaborative working. It also
get more effective with the help of interpersonal skills. Interpersonal skills are very effective in
order to make effective collaboration working. Skills such as active listening, responsibilities,
flexibility and communication assist in making the team work effective.
Collaboration is the key of diversity, equality in the organisation. It is very important for
an organisation that they should act in a collaborative mode so that they can have ability to work
in diversity. Diversity promoted by collaboration of employees. It also assist in promoting
equality in the organisation. It is identifying that divers gender always give higher efficiency and
productivity. It promotes equality between gender and organisation can achieve equality. With
the help of Equality Act, 2010 employees feel that their rights are safe and they are equally
treated to other people so that they can easily work in the collaborative conditions. It simply
promotes collaboration by reducing discrimination (Van Geelkerken and Konings, 2017).
In UK, British values plays a significant role in the workplace as it is identifies that
organisation should follow British values. There are four main British values that are democracy,
respect & tolerance, rule of law and individual liberty (Waldron, 2017). In organisation
democracy promotes leadership and accountability, team meetings, receiving and giving
feedback, etc (Kwofie, Aigbavboa and Matsane, 2018). Respect and tolerance is the understand
of all members' belief in the organisation. It consist importance of culture, tradition, etc. it also
embracing diversity in the organisation. Individual liberty is concerned with protection of rights
of employees in the organisation such as Equality and Human Rights, personal development,
dignity and respect. Organisation need to make rules which make employees happy secure and
safe.

So from the above discussion, it is very clear that collaborative working is very essential
in the organisation. If they do not have any collaborative working then they have to face
consequences. Organisation have in risk if they have poor collaboration such as time wasting,
poor management, negative impact on morale, poor execution of strategy, security risk, etc. It
can be clearly seen form the example of Deloitte which can bear a great impact of poor
collaboration. They estimate that their collaboration earns $56 billion but due to the poor
collaboration they are not completing their target as it destroy the quality of employees.
CONCLUSION
It is concluded from the above discussion that ethics are very important for an
organisation as it plays a significant role in the organisation. Values are also very important as it
assist in taking a right decision in the organisation. It also reduce risks and provide healthy
environment in the organisation. Companies get successful when they are working in a
collaborative environment.
