INTRODUCTION
Ethics are the code of conduct which gives the idea of a person and an organisation that
take a decision by analysing what is right or wrong (Wharton and Burg, 2017). Ethics are
applicable in every state as it assist in addressing issues related to right and wrong. It is the study
of right and wrong. It is very important for organisation that they should focus on their ethics.
This report shows the importance of ethics and their applicability in workplace.

A) Explain what is meant by the term
‘ethics’. In explaining ethics, also
discuss the factors that influence
ethics
Ethics are important and are defined
in various ways by different people. Ethics
tell what is wrong and what is right (Segun,
2021). It is vital that all the business
organisation have proper understanding of
business ethics as they affect the
organisation at various stages.
Ethics can be defines as a brand of
philosophy that is concerned about solving
the problem associated with what is right
and wrong (Achilli, 2018). In relation to
businesses the “code of conduct” comes
under ethics (Luu, 2017). It is vital for every
business organisation to follow business
ethics to operate effectively in the market
(Soulsbury and et. al., 2020). Business ethics
is the study related all some important
aspects such as corporate governance,
bribery, insider trading, discrimination,
fiduciary responsibilities and corporate
social responsibility (Burr, Taddeo and
Floridi, 2020). Business ethics build trust
among customers for the organisation (Tang
and et. al., 2019). It is vital for all the
organisations to know about the guidelines
and follow them. The factors that influence
ethics are discussed below:
Culture: Culture includes norms,
beliefs, customers of group of people. There
is direct impact f culture on the ethics of an
organisation. As it depends on the culture
that can the superiors questions the
subordinates directly or not. For example,
Unilever change their structure so the
company so that they van improve culture of
organisation and reduce cultural issues.
Personal Code Of Ethics: This shows
the set of principles that are followed by the
organisation (London, 2021). As they have
direct impact on the decisions taken by the

organisation. It helps to decide what is right
and what is wrong.
Legislation: This includes the laws
that are followed by the company. If a
decision is illegal in the country then it also
unethical for the company to do the same
(Van Dijck, Poell and De Waal, 2018). This
shows that there is influence of legislation
on the ethics.
Rules And Regulations: The rules
and regulations that are formulated by the
industry are important and should be
followed by the company. It is important for
the business organisation to follow them.
Social Pressures: It is vital for
business organisation to know about the
environment and affect of their business on
society (Nicholson and Kurucz, 2019). It is
also considered s ethics to take care of
environment and have positive attitude
towards the environment. For example,
Unilever introduce their aim in order to
improve green practices due to the pressure
of social responsibility.
B) Importance of workplace ethics.
It is identified that day to day
increase in scandals of large organisations
such as Google, Tesla, Facebook and NHS.
It is very clear that culprit of these scandals
are all these big organisation. So they should
be accountable for their all activities. For
example, Google face big scandal as their
top executives faced allegations of sexual
harassment (Giacomarra and et. al., 2019).
When any scandal was found then it will
depend on the company that how they react
or respond with that scandal. It is very
important for an organisation that they
should understand the importance of ethics
so that these types of scandals are reduced
and organisations can take necessary
corrective actions (Lauria and Long, 2017).
It is identified that if organisation act
according to their ethics then they get many
benefits with the help of ethics (Schmidt and
Engelen, 2020). It is very important for
organisation that they should focus on
increasing ethics in organisation so that they
can reduce scandals. Importance of ethical
behaviour in Facebook:
It increases employees performance
if Facebook's employees can perform
their duties and responsibilities with
ethical behaviour.
Workplace ethics make ensure that
they make a positive environment in
organisation. Workplace ethics make
employees happy and satisfied them
as they are not feeling any burden
because of use of ethics (Joynes,
2018). It increase job satisfaction in
employees.
