1VENDOR LOCK-IN PROBLEM
Vendor lock-in problem is one of the obstacles to enterprise cloud adoption. Which
MBaaS provider has no vendor lock-in, open source and strong developer community?
Cloud computing provides numerous opportunistic strategies related to business to
organizations both large and small. The strategies aid the organization to be a prominent
competitive player in the market and meet the business requirements and needs. Cloud users
have raised their inability to move data and applications from one particular cloud to another.
The cloud vendors mostly provide proprietary service to the enterprises in which the
specifications differs from one vendor to the other. Each vendor develops own solutions
which leads the users of the cloud to dependent, that is locked in on a particular vendor, the
reason being technical incompatibility. The vendor lock-in can be defined as a restricted
technology use, service or solution which is been developed by the vendor (Marinescu 2017).
This technique does not allow the customers to effectively move to other vendors. The
service ensures dependency of the customer on various vendor services. Vendor lock-in is a
major drawback in cloud computing as it lacks standardization. When the customers take
services from the vendors, they are ignorant about the standards that inhibit portability and
interoperability of the applications (Quint and Kratzke 2016).
Parse is a web and mobile open sourced application and is heavily supported by a
strong and active developer community. Parse is an open source application and hence makes
it a good choice for use. The technology comes without vendor lock-in (Shah and Jinwala
2015). This is a great aspect of the application and makes it better than its competitors. The
application requires to download the project, then the setting of the server infrastructure. The
license of the Parse inflicts minimum restrictions on software use. Parse provides maximum
flexibility to the users in case of hosting. Parse can be run easily on dedicated instances
