Introduction
Information system is an important need of a company as it helps in organizing and
analysis of the data. The use of information system helps in solving the relevant problems of the
organization. The aim of the report is to discuss the information system needs of a company
Westnet that is based on Australia. The report will focus on the information need of the
organization and will suggest the two alternative information systems for the company. The
viability of each of the information system that is proposed will be discussed in the report.
Westnet is a telecommunication company of Australia. The company is a subsidiary of iiNet and
was founded in the city of Geraldton Western Australia. It is a telecommunication company and
therefore it is in need of a proper information system. An information system in an organization
will ensure efficient decision making and easier management of the different work processes
within the organization. The information system need of the chosen organization are discussed in
the following paragraphs.
1. Company Profile
The company profile of Westnet is discussed in the following section (Contact, 2018).
1.1. Background and History
The company Westnet is a subsidiary of iiNet and was founded in the city of Geraldton
that is located in Western Australia. The company was founded in the year 1994. The company
has a simple goal of providing the good value internet and phone services to the customers. The
company is backed up by a dedicated team of friendly customers.

The parent company of Westnet has a long history of being a challenger in the
telecommunication company of Australia. The company later moved to Perth in 1999 after
acquisition. Later in the year 2004, the company began offering telephonic services to the clients
along with the internet products.
1.2. Product or Services it is offering
The company offers broadband ADSL, dialup internet and telephony services to the
clients based on Australia. Along with the internet services, it provides the clients with the
different telephonic services as well. It has been a service provider of the telephonic services
over the years to the clients of Australia.
1.3. Overall organizational business Strategy
The business strategy that the organization follows involves the use of simple business
processes in managing the clients’ demand and to provide them with the uninterrupted internet,
broadband and the dial up services. With the different processes such as traffic prioritization and
de-prioritizing the peer to peer traffic to provide on demand services to the clients.
