Summary
IP addressing is the assignment of an IP address to a network interface or a
computing node. An IP address denotes to a numeric number with 32-bit number
or 128 –bit number. A 32-bit number IP address is called IPv4 whereas a 128-bit
number address is called an IPv6 address. On the other hand, subnetting refers
to the process by which an allocated IP address is subdivided into segments and
each segment allocated to the organization department or a department.
IP addressing is required by any networked device for it to communicate on the
network. This is achieved by the networked interface being identified uniquely on
the network. By uniquely identifying a computer device on the network, it
becomes easier for the sender on a network to recognize the recipient and hence
the message will reach the intended person. Similarly the recipient network
interface will be able to reply on the requesting network device by use of
network address. Subnetting on the other hand is also required as it both
security and management of the network. By segmentation, the network
technician is able to troubleshoot a network by segments rather than the whole
junk of network which may become a challenge. Remember divide and conquer
algorithm which divides a problem into divisions and each division’s problem
handled individually. Furthermore, the subnetting enhances security by ensuring
that the affected or attacked network department does not spread the effect to
the rest of the network. The network segment which is affected will be isolated
and sorted out in isolation.

1. Introduction
The reason for this task is to design and implement addressing and subnetting to
our client company. The task involves analysing of the provided IP address,
subnetting of the addresses and allocating of the network segments to the four
regions of our client network. Once the IP addresses have been allocated, we
have a logical and physical diagram for our network.
2. Organisational Description
Our client company to be addressed and subnetted has four regions; the
headquarter and the other three branches labelled A, B, and C. the headquarter
has a total of has total of XYZ devices, where XYZ are the last digits of my
student registration number. My student number is 22943750 therefore, the
number of devices on the network at the headquarter is 753. Note that it is
advised that in case any of this digits zero, the zero has to be replaced with the
next non-zero number, this is the reason as to why the number of devices is 753
and not 750, the same will apply anywhere we have this case. For branches A, B
and C will have 75, 73 and 35 computer devices respectively.
3. Address allocation plan for each subnet
We have xyz = 753. As per the task the provided IP address is 191.2.XY.0,
therefore the IP address will be 191.2.75.0. IP address plan and allocation is
done as below;

We are aware the total number of devices on HQ branch has a total of 753
devices. The subnetting is as calculated as below;
