and procedure.
Case study- You work for an organisation that has clients who use
wheelchairs and your organisation operates a van with a
wheelchair lift.
Write a policy and procedure covering the safe operation of a
wheelchair lift.

Your policy must include:
 the purpose of the policy- To provide safe operation to uplift wheelchairs.
 the legal duty of your organisation as an employer- Provide work
health and safety policy and procedure
 your organisation’s commitment to controlling hazards at
their source where practicable, and minimising risks where
possible hazards cannot be eliminated- Reduce the possibility of risks and
possible hazards
 an outline of how a hazard or issue will be managed –
including resources to be provided- To monitoring and reviewing and
provide appropriate guideline to minimize the risks of hazards
 roles and accountabilities of managers and supervisors-
Monitoring and provide training to their workers about the decrement of hazards.
 a description of how the policy will be communicated to
employees/volunteers and put into practice- By providing some legal
notification to all the employees.
Write your procedure to include
 Purpose- To train workers to conduct operation in effective and safe measure. To
upgrade the system to provide maximum possible safety to patients.
 Legislation- By signing mutual agreement to follow legislation.
 Hazard Control and Minimisation- By monitoring and provide training to
workers for minimizing and controlling the hazards.
