PART 2
Contemprary statistics and contextual background
Gender inequality means that men and women are not considered equal. These
distinctions arise from psychological, physical and biological norms. Present report will discuss
about the issues related to women rights. In United Kingdom, they follow significant gaps in pay
and mostly it has been analysed that females are paid less when the comparison is being done
with male. They also do not get equal access to educational and employment opportunities. In
United Kingdom men earn more than 17.9% than women. This means that men earn £1 whereas
women earn 8.2p. From this ratio it can be clearly seen that females are paid less and they are
also considered lower than male. When comparison is being done on working hours males in UK
tend to work for longer hours than the females. One of the main reasons behind this is people
think that its male can perform better than women. In UK gender pay gap was 17.3% which is
quite higher. This clearly means that women are not provided with equal rights. This is because
in United Kingdom women fill up more part time job because of their family issues and they are
being paid less for that.

the world. It has been analysed that women are not able to grow professionally because they are
higher victim of crime. 3.4% of women faces domestic abuse and violence which is much higher
than men facing same (Heise and et.al., 2019). It has also been analysed that in United Kingdom
the income of 33% of males arrives from the sources which are private like for example pension.
This in comparison to male, the percentage of women is 25%. It has also been analysed that the
pay gaps also exist in workplaces (Fincher, 2016). Women are paid low when the comparison is
done with males. This decreases women confidence and also because of this they are not being
able to grab better positions. It has also been analysed that inequality is being faced by women at
home, workplace and even in politics. In every field woman are considered as below than males.
Research has also provided that during the COVID-19 pandemic in UK, women are losing their
jobs at higher proportion than male. It means that gender pay gap may worsen in all the
conditions.Conditions have been worsening in service sectors where majority of women
population worked. In this it includes interaction with customers and for those women who are
working here are paid less in comparison to males. The pandemic situation has made condition
