Complete the following activities:
Task 2 Prepare workplace sustainability policies
For this task, you are required to develop a sustainability policy for the
project team to be implemented in the organisation described in Appendix 1.
2.1.1 Define the scope and objectives of the sustainability policy
a) Read Appendix 1 and determine what legislative and regulatory
requirements would apply to a workplace sustainability policy for the
organisation (4-5).
There is need to apply to workplace sustainability policy for the organization.
 Within the workplace the sustainability policy is usually showing the
aspect which is utilisation of proper human resource in the effective
way with their best capable ability.
 The disposal of the waste and goals/measurement which is effective in
term of workplace that follow the policy related with the sustainability.
 Through adopting sustainable procurement minimize the price and
quality of product through applying policy within organization.
 Applying the sustainable training policy to reduce the organizational
cost to improve skill within employees to deliver better services within
organization.
b) Research for sustainability best practice models used by similar
organisations and in project management, summarise the findings of your
research (50-100 words).
Developing sustainability work practices can lead to providing better and
more effective response to different organizations which can enable to
deliver better sustainability through saving energy on desktops or computers
can reduce energy consumption. Here, through using the proper resources
and providing better use can allow enhancing productivity. This can also
include best practices of the sustainability model which allow getting better
and more effective response to create a better impact on the delivery of

improving business and introduce new policy which can help to implement
better and more effective response. It can also allow to delivery positive
impact through implementing those policies to improve business and its
productivity.
c) Develop three options for the direction and focus of the policy and
consider:
o the likely effectiveness
o timeframe
o sustainability as a value add for the project and the business
o cost of implementing the option.

d) Schedule a time with the trainer and assessor in week 2 of class and
participate in a group briefing session with the Project Sponsor (the
trainer and assessor) to discuss:
o The outcome of your evaluation (point c)
o Typical barriers to sustainability policy implementation and possible
strategies to address barriers
o How cost for implementing sustainability could be reduced and value
added to the company
o The process you are taking to develop the policy
Duration: 30 minutes.
Please note that the trainer and assessor will validate your participation to
the session in the marking sheet.
If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to make alternative
arrangements with the trainer and assessor to undertake the briefing
session.
