Introduction
This report analyses the requirements of the network structure of Advanced Medicos
Limited which is a digital health company concerned with selling products in the healthcare
industry. It also describes the analysis by explaining the complete infrastructure as well as the
departments and the network components. Having provided the summary of requirements in
a tabular format, a short description is given for explaining the layout and how this network
has been implemented. Thereafter the respective assumptions on the network are given. After
which the report also lists the applications being used by AML and their purposes. This report
then ends with concluding notes where observations drawn from the report are given.

The headquarters of Advanced Medicos Limited (AML) comprises the two buildings
Building A and Building B located adjacent to each other and 20 meters apart. The Marketing
and Software Development departments are in Building A and the Administration and
Production departments are in Building B. Both these buildings have three stories. The
devices installed in these buildings are listed in ‘Requirements Specifications Table’ drawn
above with respect to the corresponding department. The two buildings are using a LAN
connection and the common web portal of the company for accessing and communicating
with each other (Salam and Khan 2016).
Assumptions
The software department hosts 10 printers and 70 workstations, the marketing
department consists of 4 printers and 10 workstations. Hence, it can be assumed that the

marketing department needs only one floor while the software department is left to operate
across the rest of the 2 floors. Building B primarily serves the purpose of a server farm. Here,
the departments Administration and Production operate in two different floors and the
database servers, web servers and email servers are installed in the other floor. The
departments Marketing and Production departments each have a server to deal with the
connectivity and networking activities among them. Similarly the Development department
have 2 servers while Administration department have 6 servers for web hosting, database and
emailing services, 1 for security and the other for connectivity. The LAN connection between
the buildings is set up with Fast Ethernet cables connecting the routers (Szilágyi, Fejes and
Katona 2018). Gigabit Ethernet cable is used to connect the Router to main switch of each
building, other switches are connected to these main switches through Fast Ethernet cables
and Gigabit Ethernet cables are again used to connect devices from floor specific switches
(Stallings 2015).
The different community of users using the network are company managers and
executives, general employees of the four departments and the CXO level members (Amenyo
2018). The CXO level members include the CEO, COO, CFO and others who are responsible
for running the institute from the top. The managers and executive ensure the goals are met
by the general employees. The general employees are the individuals to who execute the most
of the tasks. CXO – Need uninterrupted access to company resources round the clock for
strategizing and decision making.
Managers and Executives – They require uninterrupted network access for conducting the
meetings with the general employees.
General employees – They need properly functioning systems and devices for completing the
assigned tasks.

Application Requirements
The applications that are being used are the following:
SOPHOS Security: For securing the network components and to serve as a firewall, the
SOPHOS Security is chosen (Lin et al. 2014). It is a hardware based security solution and
works on the security server of the company.
Eset Nod32 Antivirus: These anti malware applications are installed in individual servers
and workstations that provide a second layer of security and also protects from viruses worms
and other harmful applications from infecting the systems.
Cisco WebEx Meeting: This is a communication software used for the purposes of video
conversations, conferencing, live meetings and the like (Howes 2018). It is a business class
software commonly used by small, medium as well as big sized companies.
Remote Desktop Connection: Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Connection is a connectivity
tool that comes built in with every windows based operating systems. With the help of this
software other client computers and servers can be remotely accessed over a LAN setup.
Microsoft Office 2016: This is among the most popular office applications and by using it
the company ensures maximum compatibility of the office based files.
Google Chrome: The chrome is a widely used browser with a very simplistic user interface
and provides the end users a fast web surfing experience along with essential web browsing
features that only few other web browsers offer.
Thunderbird: The thunderbird mailing client from Mozilla is an open source mailing agent
with multiplatform support (Volkamer et al. 2017). This mailing agent is chosen over others
because of its cost efficient and performance based advantages.

Medicos Limited (AML) and after providing the requirements summary table, describes the
analysis through a diagram explaining the infrastructure layout along with the departments
and the network components. It is observed that the company required significant cabling and
several switches to implement the network. The number of servers required for each
department is also noted along with how the LAN is set up and the roles and needs of the
different user communities after identifying them. Lastly the list of applications required for
AML are provided along mentioning their purpose.
