AI Summary
This report provides a comprehensive analysis of the network requirements for Advanced Medicos Limited (AML), a digital health company. The report begins with a summary of requirements, followed by an examination of the different user communities within the organization, including managers, employees, and CXO-level members, and their respective network needs. It details the data transmission methods, specifying the use of Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet cables. The report outlines the network hardware components, including routers, switches, servers, workstations, and printers, and presents both logical and physical WAN topologies. A network design section details the infrastructure for the company’s two adjacent buildings, and a network analysis table summarizes the number of devices per department. The report concludes with a successful analysis of AML's network requirements, along with diagrams of the infrastructure layout, departments, and network components.

3NETWORKING AND COMMUNICATIONS FOR AML
Introduction
The report analyses the network requirements of Advanced Medicos Limited (AML)
and describes the analysis through a diagram explaining the infrastructure layout along with
the departments and the network components. The report starts with the summary of
requirements table and after describing which the assumptions about the network are given.
Lastly conclusions are drawn from the study.
Discussion
Communities
The groups of users using the organization’s network can be many. These are mainly
the managers, general employees and the CXO level members (Amenyo 2018). CEO, COO,
CFO and the like typically comprise the CXO level members. They are concerned with
actually running the organization. Executives and managers ensure that general employees
meet the assigned goals. These employees are those workers who are primarily responsible
for executing tasks in the company. These communities must be allocated different network
groups.
Data Transmission
The two different types of cables required for establishing the network are:
Fast Ethernet: Fast Ethernet cables provide data transmission rates of over 100 megabits per
second (Szilágyi, Fejes and Katona 2018). This type of cable is required to facilitate inter
router communications, connection between switches and wireless access points as also in
situations where cross cabling is required.

4NETWORKING AND COMMUNICATIONS FOR AML
Gigabit Ethernet: Gigabit Ethernet provides the technologies for transmitting frames with
rates of one gigabit per second (Stallings 2015). This type of cable is used for distribution of
network between router to switches and from switches to the various devices of the network.
Network Hardware
The hardware components residing in the network are 2 routers, 2 level 1 switches
and 5 level 2 switches, 6 servers, 90 workstations and 20 printers. Each of the two routers is
responsible for facilitating the network of a particular building. The level 1 switches
distribute the connections from the respective router to the level 2 switches of specific floors.
Most of the servers are located in Building A which acts as the server farm holds the runs the
administration department.
Network Logical Topology - WAN
The network topology identified for the use case of AML is Wide Area Network
(WAN). A graphical depiction of this topology is given above.

The AML headquarters is located in two adjacent buildings namely Building A and
Building B. These two buildings are situated 20 meters away from each other. The
departments of Software Development and Marketing are present in Building A while the
departments Production and Administration are present in the Building B. Each of the two
buildings are three stories tall. The number of devices of these two buildings are mentioned in
the above table with respect to the departments. Both the buildings make use of a LAN
connection and use the company web portal to access and communicate with one another
(Salam and Khan 2016). It is also assumed that the company additionally obtains Internet
access through ISPs and secures it with an enterprise standard firewall (Botta et al. 2016).
Conclusion
In conclusion the report successfully analyses requirements of network of Advanced
Medicos Limited (AML) and after providing the requirements summary table, describes the
analysis through a diagram explaining the infrastructure layout along with the departments
and the network components. It is observed that the company required significant cabling and
several switches to implement the network.
