This project report details the network design for Advanced Medicos Limited (AML), a digital health company aiming to upgrade its existing network to support web-based healthcare services and accommodate future growth. The assignment involves analyzing user requirements, suggesting a network architecture with detailed specifications for workstations, printers, and servers, and designing IPv4 addressing plans. The report proposes hardware solutions including MacBook Pros, Lenovo ThinkCentre M720 Towers, HP printers, and HP ProLiant servers, along with Mro-tek routers. Logical and physical network diagrams are provided to illustrate the network's structure, connections between buildings, and the newly inaugurated branch. The design aims to enhance network performance, security, and scalability to meet AML's operational needs and support its expansion plans.

Executive Summary
Advanced Medicos Limited (AML) is an organization operating within the field of healthcare
that has been provisioning customers with various services related to the same field of
business. However, the company has been using an old system of network for a long time
now and has taken up the issue to design a newer network having the primary inclusion of
various newer technology to provision the customers with improved facilities and services. In
addition to this, within the report a newer branch has been added to the company located at a
distance of 100m from the headquarters. As a designing of a newer system of network, the
report states various hardware that shall be needed for the network along with their detailed
description and purpose behind choosing the same. Following this, the logical diagram of the
entire network has been designed showing all the connections among the buildings and the
branch of AML. Lastly, the physical diagram has been designed to show the various types of
hardware that has been implemented to improve the business procedure of the organization
and to create a better network design for the same.

1. Analysis of user requirements
Advanced Medicos Limited (AML) refers to a digital health company that deals with
products related to the field of healthcare. The company has been providing with the
healthcare services with the use of web as well. In reference to this, the company has
identified the need of upgrading their existing system of network. The company currently is
in possession of two buildings named A and B that is both a three-storey building. In addition
to this, the buildings are separated by a distance of 20m. Following this, AML has five
departments in total namely the likes of, production, software development, marketing,
administration as well as accounting and finance. Building A has the department of software
development along with that of marketing (Kompara and Hölbl 2018). On the contrary, the
building has the possession of the remaining departments belonging to the organization.
However, the entire connection of the whole network has no inclusion of a wireless service
and every individual device is connected to the other with the help of wires. In addition to
this, both the building have no direct sharing connection. Hence, both the buildings are
connected to each other through a web portal that exists within the current network system of
the organization. This web portal in the form of an edge router is located within building A.
All of these conditions have led to the fact that AML is currently in the need of an
upgraded system that might have potentially improve the existing network of the company
and provision with a better working of the entire business processes that are carried out on a
daily basis (Sun et al. 2017). Hence, the primary requirements of the company for building up
a new network or improving the existing one have been mentioned below. These are,
 8 more workstations within the administration department along with the addition of 2
printer for provisioning more workload to be handled.
 Inclusion of BYOD to safeguard the security of the organization.

 Installation of WAN within the branch office just inaugurated at another city.
However, that particular branch has only departments, software development as well
as the marketing (Gong et al. 2017).
 Linking of the new branch to that of the headquarter with the help of the existing
software belonging to the company.
 The proposed network will also have the inclusion of supportive services to ward the
online services.
 Video conferencing services between the main office and that of the headquarter.
The requirements of the AML Company that have been taken into consideration has
been mentioned above that needs to be specifically integrated into the proposed network of
the company to support all the services that will contribute towards the business processes of
the organization (Reddy, Venkataraman and Negi 2017).
2. Suggestion of Network Architecture
The entire architecture of the network for the Advanced Medicos Limited (AML)
needs to be rebuilding and redesign for a better performance of the existing design as well as
to integrated some of the additional features in this regard.
Workstations
Each department of the organization will have the requirement of a specific quantity
of workstations for each of the employees working with in the respective departments (Li et
al. 2017).
 Software development- this department of the organization will be in charge of
working with differently existing software applications. This department has been
allotted with 80 workstations in regards to the number of working employees as well

as the work that shall be carried out within this department. In addition to this, the
department will also be having the inclusion of 10 printers for work as well.
 Production- this department is entrusted with the responsibility to manufacture the
products that is offered to all of its customers (Guo et al. 2017). This this department
has the requirement of 10 workstations along with that of 2 printers.
 Marketing- this department will be carrying out the activity of dealing with the entire
promotion and advertisement of the company and the services offered by the same.
Hence, 5 workstations will be allotted to this department along with 4 printers.
 Accounts- this department carries out the work related to accounts such as payments
and revenue calculation. This will be supplied with 5 workstations and 3 printers.
 Administration- this department will have the inclusion of 5 workstations along with
that of 2 printers for carrying out the work that have been entrusted upon by the
organization (Tang et al. 2016).
Since, the old network along with the hardware of the Advanced Medicos Limited
(AML) is not working well, and has been failing to meet the demands and the primary
requirements of the customers along with the employees; there is a need of supplying the
employees with the best quality of workstation to carry out their work efficiently. In this
regard, the software developers shall be supplied with MacBook Pro with an additional
requirement that they will be able to carry that back home for getting done with their relative
work (Lucas-Estañ et al. 2018). Apart from this, the other employees belonging to the other
existing departments will be provided with Lenovo ThinkCentre M720 Tower because of the
fact that this provides with the best features in an affordable price as well as fulfils all the
necessary requirement of Advanced Medicos Limited (AML).

Printer
Each of the department will have the inclusion of printers and for a better
performance of the entire organization along with the departments in particular, the printers
should be of high quality provisioning with the best services and efficient delivery
(Avatefipour and Malik 2018). Hence, HP 300 MFP M375nw Colour All in One Laser
Printer has been chosen to be supplied to each of the individual department within the

organization to have a better contribution towards the newly designed network of Advanced
Medicos Limited (AML). This printer has been chosen because of the fact that it will be help
in serving the basic requirement of the business for the organization as well as provide with
the necessary security from outer involvement. This will also prove to be cost effective for
AML since it’s a onetime investment and will keep serving the company for a larger amount
of time.

In addition to this, the production department will have 3D printers for a better
manufacturing of the product offered by AML to all of its customers (Ting et al. 2018).
Hence, Kodak Portrait 3D Printer will be supplied to the production department for a better
procedure of manufacturing.

Server
Branch A along with Branch B of Advanced Medicos Limited (AML) will have a
common server among them. This server will have the connection from a wireless server that
will serve the purpose of providing each individual department with the required amount of
network connection (Chandrasekaran, Balakrishnan and Nogami 2018). The server that will
be used is, HP ProLiant DL360p G8 Rack Server 2xE5-2667 8 X 8GB 900 10K 6G 2.5
SFF. This router, in regards to the budget will provide with the best quality of server in terms
of connection as well as security to prevent online criminal activity and protecting the data of
AML and its customers.

Routers
Each of the department within the two branches of the organization will have a
respective router that will connect the departments to the main server in particular. The
routers that will be used for this purpose is, Mro-tek Generation Enterprise-class Smb
Access Router 0 Mbps Router (Sharma et al. 2020). In reference to the cost, this router will
provision with the best quality of connection to that of the server and will protect the user
data as well as the information of AML. This router has the potential ability to fulfil all of the
basic requirements for the company.

Building-A
This consists of the two departments, the software development as well as the
marketing department. The software development department has been provided with 80
MacBook Pro so that the developers can carry their own device back in case of urgent work.

Along with this, the department consists of 10 printers (Gurtov, Liyanage and Korzun 2016).
Marketing department consists of 5 workstations along with 4 printers. Each department has
been connected to a switch that again connects to a router and finally to the main wireless
router of the building. Copper straight through wires have been used for better quality of
communication and less traffic among the network of the building.
Building-B
Building-B consists of three other departments namely, production, accounts and
finance as well as administration. Production department consists of 70 workstations and 2
printers. Accounts department consists of 6 workstations along with 3 printers. Lastly,
administration department consists of 13 workstations along with 4 printers (McMahan et al.
2016). Each of the department has been connected to a switch and then to a sub-router from
where they are being connected to the wireless network of the building.
Building-B also consists of a server farm containing three servers. Each of the three
servers have been connected to three wireless routers of Building-A, Building-B as well as
the newly opened branch of the company.
Branch
Advanced Medicos Limited (AML) has opened a new branch for which there is the
existence of two departments, namely software development along with marketing. Software
development department consists of 25 workstations and the marketing department consists
of 6 workstations (Kupferman and Arnon 2016). Each of the two departments have been
connected to a switch and to a router then after followed by both the routers getting
connected to a wireless router.
Each of the wireless routers in each of the building and the branch has been connected
to individual servers present within Building-B inside the server farm.
