1. Introduction
Advanced Medicos Limited (AML) is an organization which sells the health products digitally. Their
system is mainly hardware-based through which they provide health services to the customers. Now
Advance Medicos Limited wants to expand their business online so they can sell their products through
web application so all the customers can get the benefit of it and they don’t need to buy the hardware
system necessarily. All the customers want to buy an expert system and so the feedback is taken from
the customers and average customers are saying that the current network is too old and this system
needs to get replaced or redesigned.
1.1 Purpose
If the current network of the AML company will be redesigned using new technologies, then this
company will have a wide range for future growth and this network will give a boost to the company
sales performance and a strong customer relationship. The customer is the key elements for helping in
the growth of the company. It will increase communication between different department network
users (Wong, et al., 2015).
1.2 Background Information
The Advance Medicos Limited company is a digital health care company which provides users their
system for health care products. These products are basically on the hardware system which is a
company providing to its customers. So the company wants to deploy their online web application so
the customers can interact online without buying the offline system. The existing system has 200
employees and four departments, Other provided details are:

1.3 Scope for a new system
The new network which is going to be built in to improve the existing network. The current scenario of
the network is providing many services to the company but if there is a possibility to add some more
factors to advance the network like remote access, wireless communication, advanced security,
application of Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence Implementation, etc. then this network can meet
the modern standards for networking and the operations will help in growing the business and
customers.
2. Analysis of User Requirements
2.1 Technical Goals
There are some technical goals which are expected to achieve in the redesigned network by comparing
to an existing network:
As the business is expanding the requirements of employees are also increasing so the network
should be compatible to address that much users. AML’s existing network does not have
sufficient space to manage the growth of the employees. So the new system will have the
capacity to manage the employee count for at least the next five years.
Security for a company network is a very sensitive topic as if someone tries to breach the
network security, he can access all the confidential data of the company. In the redesigned
system, the application of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence will help to maintain the
security concern more powerful (Aleshin, et al., 2015).
The company has four building at one place so the current network is providing the Local Area
Connectivity (LAN) but with the expansion of the business the company is expanding the
branches to another place so the redesigned network should provide the connectivity among all
the offices through Wide Area Network (WAN), this will make the company network more
strong.
The redundant network ensures availability of network but the existing network is getting too
old and it used to face downtime while connection, so the new network will support redundancy
so it will recover this issue and devices can connect anytime.
2.2 Business Goals
A company has various type of confidential data like employee data, banking data and this data
has to be secured. The existing network is highly vulnerable and this causes many types of risk
on the data of the system. If the network is more secure than the business can grow without any
risk.
Operations are based on communication between the company’s employees. Various types of
data are being transmitted among different departments and users. This old network is not
capable for the wireless connection so the new network will be redesigned using new
technologies like BYOD (Bring your own device) and work from home, which will help in making
the network smarter (Saravanakumar, et al., 2015).

4. Description of Proposed Network
The new network is based on the old network which is configured for the Advance Medicos Limited
company. The designed network and physical diagram for this network show all the configured
requirements of a new system. The designing of both diagrams are done accordingly to the technical
and business goals which are required to achieve. There are some functionalities which are analyzed for
the new redesigned network:
The vulnerabilities of the existed system are removed in the new system. Security is more strong in
the new network.
The older network cannot provide the connectivity to the distance places but the new network
supports the wireless connectivity over the Wide Area Network.
This new network is remotely accessed which is new functionality for the system and the server is
used to authenticate the users which will prevent the unauthorized users from data access ( Cziva, et
al., 2015).
4.1 Network Design
A network can only be designed when there are sufficient reasons backing the business and technical
requirements. Network architects must convince business managers using different documents of the
need for an upgrade or a complete overhaul of network infrastructure.
AML has identified through the use of different tools and analytical methods that the current network
infrastructure is no longer required. Preceding the previous requirement analysis phase, I will proceed to
identify the make-up for the new network. By applying the requisite knowledge and experience gained
as an expert, I will be guided by industrial standards and technologies in my choice of network models,
hardware and proposed network topologies.
AML’s drive towards implementing the new network should be facilitated by the results of the network
design phase. This document should guide anyone desiring to engage in a similar and challenging task as
this one.
4.2 Network Architecture
Network topologies are blueprints for implementing the network. The representation of nodes on a
topological map is the outcome of a model. Network architects rely on prescribed standard models to
build any network.
Based on knowledge gained from developing deep understanding of how networks are designed, the
commonly adopted and acceptable mode is a multilayer network. A multilayer network is based on a
hierarchical concept of 2 or 3 layers with blocks of hardware providing different functions to users. The
hierarchical mode exposed the limitations of a flat network design because it did not support changes
(adds) and upgrades without experiencing downtime in all cases a flat network does not support the
ability to grow the network.

7

The basic composition of the hierarchical network is that it consists of the core, distribution and access
layers. It is not a static model, therefore, I will implement only this layers in order to simplify the
network. These layers are the distribution and access layers. The distribution layer is an intermediary
layer between the access and the internet edge devices (routers and firewalls). The access layer is for
connectivity to any device at the internal edge of the local LAN.
4.3 Network hardware
Network hardware devices are the physical computing devices, connectors and cabling required to build
any proposed model. Each hardware platform has a set of supported features that define its applicable
usage. Before choosing any specific hardware, the network designer must understand how it fits into the
model and whether it can interconnect with other devices on the network.
The first step before deciding on any hardware is to compare the features supported and the technical
requirements of the design. The technologies supported must overlap the current design in order to
handle future upgrades. For AML network to successfully scale the current challenges and support the
company network over the next five years; I will propose a carefully studied host of hardware
components. Hardware devices must have the desired port and interfaces that support high
connectivity.
4.4 User computers
With varying types of computers proposed for use by the different departments, there will be three
types of computing devices as defined by the client. The type of devices includes laptop (Apple,
Macbook pro), workstations and desktop PC. After a comparative study of the devices available in the
market and matching them with the long term goals; the following vendor devices have been chosen
