Effective communication refers to sharing information. Some theories of communication are:
Document Page
Actor Network Theory: According to this theory human and non human factors are equally
contributing in achieving the success of technological innovation. This theory looks for forming
networks and how it contributes to the success. In the Business United college this theory helps
in forming networks with each other (Marsen., 2020). Students and teachers both are responsible
for the success. This helps in effective communication in the organisation.
Communication Accommodation Theory: This theory describes that when people will
communicate or interact with each other and adjust their cultures and communication styles with
each other. In the Business United college students should interact with each other and share
their views and cultures with each other. Teachers should give work in team or group so that
students can interact better with each other.
Group think: Group think means that decisions should be taken in group. The main purpose of
group think theory is to maintain unity among the employees in the organisation. This helps in
better interacting with each other. As work is assigned in a group so all the members have to
communicate with to achieve the goal and target of the organization. In the Business United
college students are given group task or activities so that they will better understand and enjoy
doing work in a team. Due to covid-19 teachers are taking online classes and in that they are not
able to interact with the students properly.
Social learning theory: According to this social learning theory people learn different things
from each other by observing their behaviour, attitude and reactions. When people are given
work in group or team then they have to interact. While communicating they observe reaction of
others and they observe behaviour of others. In the Business united college students observe the
behaviour and attitude of their classmates, teachers and other students in the college. Some good
things they learn from others and try to improve those things in themselves. Students are given
group task in that they spend time for completing the task, so they came to know many new
things about each other. Work environment and attitudes have impact on communication. If the
working environment is not good then people will not interact.
Evaluation of barrier of communication

Necessary steps should be taken to avoid these barriers. Some barriers that are faced by the
Business United college are:
Technical barrier
This barrier refers to the technological issue like, machines are not working, cost of
technology is high, organisation cannot afford it. In the Business United college due to covid -19
online classes are taken (Sanina and et.al., 2017). Students and teachers are facing problems in
online classes. Due to network issues some students are not able to take class. Students who are
joining the class not understanding topics properly. Teachers are having old laptops or computers
that take time to load new page.
Sometimes teachers are also not able to connect properly and due to this issue topics are
not clear to the students. Students are facing problem in studying from online classes. To solve
this issue teachers can prepare recorded lectures and share it with the students. This recorded
lecture will help the students in studying the topic which they miss in the class. It will also
helpful for students who are not able to join the class. Recorded lecture will be beneficial for
both students and teachers.
Emotional barrier
This barrier includes anger, frustration and decision making capability of a person. In the
Business United college students miss the chance of interacting with their friends, classmates and
teachers. They are not able to communicate properly with their peers. In online classes students
get bored and they cannot interact with the teacher. Students have many doubts in the topic but
all the doubts are not cleared in online classes. Students cannot share their views. Teachers
should take necessary steps to solve this barrier and try to solve the doubts of students.
Physical barrier
In the Business United college students are not comfortable in taking online classes.
Students have to sit for long time to attend the class. They have to look at the screen for many
hours, due to which they are having headache issue. To solve this issue teachers can set time
table. Daily three to four classes should be taken and break should be given to students. Teachers
should take essential steps to solve this issue and students can also attend classes.

Company strategies to overcome communication barriers
To overcome communication barriers, companies make strategies. In the organisation
employees should take initiative to communicate with other people. They can interact face to
face and clear the issues if any. To overcome from communication barrier the best way is to
listen carefully. If the person is listening carefully to what others are saying then there will be
fewer chances of misunderstanding (Takino., 2020). To overcome from communication barrier
check whether time and place is right to communicate with a person.
When communicating be clear and use easy words so that the listener may understand.
To overcome communication barriers in the workplace diversify communication channels. If the
employees want to talk to someone in the organization then diversify channels for interacting
like face to face interaction can be done, communicate on social media, use technology to
interact. Pay attention to what the person is saying.
Listen carefully and if any doubt then clear that doubt and ask questions. Try to
understand what co-worker wants to say (Darics and Koller., 2019). If co-worker is saying
something then listen it carefully and try to solve the issue or problem. Today technology is the
main source which helps in effective communication. Make proper use of technology in solving
the issues and for better interaction. Use tools like, group chat, social media, surveys,
suggestions etc. Use the correct communication tools for interaction. Employees can make
informal groups.
Employees should not mix their personal and professional communication. In the
organization employees should talk related to the organization work. Personal communication
distract employees and divert their mind. Employees do not focus on achieving the target of the
organization. After giving instructions to employees, manager should follow up to ensure that
everyone understand what work they have to do (Kalogiannidis and Papaevangelou., 2020).
It is necessary to check regularly that employees are working according to the
instructions provided to them. Sometimes it happens that employees did not understand what
work they have to do. One to one meeting is important as it help in avoiding communication
issues at the organization. Company can use a communication app for the internal
communication. This will help the organization in reducing the chances of mistakes done and
will help in clearing misunderstanding.
