BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
Barriers and challenges to effective
communication
Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the method of
teaching and learning completely changed and
shifted to online and virtual modes instead of
physical and real modes. This benefitted the
students and the teachers to continue their studies
even during the lockdown due to pandemic but on
the other hand it was also observed that the
students face various problems due to barriers and
issues in communication which are as mentioned
below.
Technical barriers
These are the barriers which take place in the
system or the internet connection. Without a
strong connection of internet, it becomes
really impossible to engage in the online
learning (O’Doherty and et.al., 2018).
Physical barriers
These barriers occur because the children
have to sit in front of the screen for hours
which can lead to many physical problems.

Financial barriers
The students become unable to buy the technology and pay for the internet
services.
Emotional barriers
These barriers occur due to no interaction with the friends and peers which
demotivated the students.
Cultural barriers
The students are not involved in the cultural awareness regarding what all is
going on in the community and the society (Aljaraideh and Al Bataineh,
2019).
Strategies to overcome communication barriers
The best way for combating the issues is to be prepared in advance by
assuring that the person is having the basic computer skills and is aware of the
internet connection needed along with the proper system. The IT department
must be present virtually so if any issues arise then they must be there to solve
the same. Also, during the online learning the children must be given spare
time to interact with each other so that they can enjoy the learning process.
The platforms must not ask for the fees for every program and must make the
necessary programs free of cost to be provided to the students so that they
need not to miss the opportunity just because of not being financially stable
(Baticulon and et.al., 2021).

NOTESBarriers and challenges to effective communication
Technical barriers
Sometimes, the system of the teachers also uses old systems which take lot of time in loading new pages. Due to this, the students also miss some important
parts of the lessons. This decreases the effectiveness of learning and teaching.
Physical barriers
These include headaches, back pain, less movement of body parts and many more.
Financial barriers
This is why many students who can’t afford to buy the distance learning programs are unable to get the benefits of online learning.
Emotional barriers
They might get bored after listening to the teachers for so long and the students needs to have interactive communication with the friends but they are unable
to do so which makes them emotionally unstable.
Cultural barriers
They do not get the opportunity to share their opinions with peers and friend which lacks in becoming cultural fit.
Strategies to overcome communication barriers
The lectures and the teaching must be recorded for the students so that if any important part if missed because of the internet connection then the students
can get back to the same.
