Part A: Summarising
The Rise of Machines is the e-book that explains about the ways in which machines are replacing
the humans by the use of technology. Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee proposed this book
stating that digital revolution is taking place that is changing the ways in which people work in
the environment. Kurzweil also stated in this context that around 2045, people would merge into
human intelligence. Knowledge and skill will combine to increase the capacity of working and
creating new things. He also stated some bold statements that evaluated the speed with which
machines will replace the human activities in the society. Like, he stated that computer will beat
the best chess player in the world by the year 2000 but it happened before that only in the year
1997 by Deep Blue supercomputer who beat world chess champion Garry Kasparov in a highly
publicized tournament. He further, explained the power of technology to work effectively and
make unthinkable changes in the environment (Von Schomberg, 2014). Various companies like
Tesla, Google have started using this type of technology to enhance their business process and
support various factors present in the external environment.
Part B: Researching, Writing and Referencing
Relating to the above case analysis, it should be noted that technology nowadays has started
behaving in intelligent and unpredictable ways that even the creators don’t understand the
aftermath. Machines have started increasing the shape of global events and it has started gaining
control on manmade activities as well. In the current environment, the scientist have developed a
robot for every facility that human being want. The robots even act, behave and express like
human being only. The artificial intelligence is touching heights by providing significant
innovations in the market. Things that people are doing now were never imagined before due to
which disruption has started to gain power (Pol, & Ville, 2009). Technology has started
increasing the understanding of people as well. It has increased the thinking and understanding
capacity of people due to which they try more and more to use completely use such technology
and help the global market to grow. To some people the technologies look weird at the beginning
but later on when they start to use it, they become addicted to it. We people are now living in a
world where we have become completely addicted to technology. The people who made such

technological innovations are now under control of such innovations. It is strange to even say
that machines are taking control over the lives of people (The Guardian, 2018).
However, it can be said that these machines are ruining the external environment as well. As
people have started using innovative tools and technologies due to which they have reduced the
use of manpower, thus it can be said that manpower is being substituted by the technology in the
present environment. It is bizarre to even think of situations where technology is working and
people are dying out of hungry because they are left with no work to do. The main aim of
technological innovations should be that people use it for their ease and not get addicted to it.
One cannot even think of future by looking at the present situation like this (Burrus, 2017).
Although use of technology is reducing complexities present in the lives of people but it is
increasing its dependability. A normal person cannot even think of day where he is not allowed
to use any machine like phone, washing machine, laptop, air conditioner, refrigerator etc.
Something that is very deep and weird is occurring in the society with a massive growth that is
going to be very dangerous for people in near future. The purpose of machines in the
environment should be to help people deal with their issues and effectively solve them as well.
Machines should be a part of the lives of the people but it should not rule it. Man is the owner of
the machine as he has created it but he should not act like a submissive of machines in any
condition. Modern technology is creating disruptions in basic daily activities that are causing
problems to various people as well (Lindqvist, et. al., 2018). Thus, the fact should be noted that
although technology is used as a helping hand for people but now it is controlling the actions of
human as well which could cause destructions in the environment. Thus, it important to stop the
accelerating growth of technology and rotate it in the right direction.
