Reason for questionnaire as best method of data collection for project
On the basis of given case scenario, B&B is planning to renovate premises with an
objective to improve or increase occupancy rate. In this regard, business entity of B&B decided
to gather information regarding renovation concept through survey via questionnaire. It is an
economical mode to gather information for both parties. There is no requirement for visiting
every respondent on personal basis (Ebert and et.al., 2018). Apart from this, this is best way as
compared to others such as observation or interview, when the sample population is spread over
huge territory. It also permits a nationwide and international coverage. Hence, by conducting
survey business entity would become able to assess customer’s expectation related to layout,
designing etc.
Data required to be collected
The data is going to be collected with context to plan for renovation as it should
undertake details related to expansion, affordability and important information related to
occupancy rate. It will gather information related to suitable location and recent attractions of
customer along with their desires (Birinci, Berezina and Cobanoglu, 2018). In the similar aspect,
there is basic requirement for gathering information related to type of rooms or background of
the business. Henceforth, it has requirement to gather information related to current trends and
unique feature which are preferable and needs of this present generation. Thus, through the
means of purposive sampling 20 guests of B&B will be selected for survey purpose.
Designing questionnaire
The below questionnaire will help to collect data related to renovation of business as this
will help in attaining competitive advantage and for setting layout. It is indirect question related
to cost or affordability which is basic feature to be known for setting budget. For laying special
emphasis, it has stated information related to quality and comfort zone. In the present scenario,
people lays focus on dinning and swimming pool so it has been stated. Moreover, architectural
style and special features leads to USP and window treatment and decorative are useful for
business expansion. These all questions are designed as per current trends in hotels and room
service and even could be answered straight forwardly. In addition to this, it has also
concentrated on natural features and suggestions which should be addressed because it will help
in avoiding issues and preferences.
