The discussion helped me in understanding the importance of business communication
and its utilities in effective leadership. It taught me the importance of it in implementing
decisions, reaching the agreements, development of plans and proposals and its role in
organizing effective meetings. It taught me that without proper business communication the
business is less likely to get success in its ventures (McLean, 2010).
The three key points which I have learned in the discussion are
Written communication is important
Written communication is one of the most important forms of business communications
as it is used a lot in communicating through mails, writing applications, preparing reports,
developing proposals and in passing a written order to employees. The written communication is
also served as the legal evidence if the company gets into any lawsuit. It is one of the most
important elements in initiating formal communication between the departments in the
organization.
Presentation skills play a dominant part in the corporate sector
The way the information is presented to the client or any stakeholder of the business
plays a big role in it receptivity. A poor presentation of a proposal could lead to its rejection or a
unworthy proposal, if presented well could be accepted which means presentations are the key to
success for the business.
Body language plays a major role in business communication
The way an employee presents himself communicates a lot about the company he is
working in. it is important for the company to train the body language of the employee as
business etiquettes plays essential role in the success of its venture (The Business
Communication , 2019).
The knowledge learned in the business communication discussion can be applied by
improving the presentation skills which could be done by enriching the vocabulary as it would
help me in making meaningful, short and succinct presentations and will also be helpful in
written communication.
