Business practices are the process which is used by most of the organizations that includes
different methods, process, procedures, rules etc. to functioning business activities or operations
(Andreassen and et.al., 2018). It will be followed in order to achieve their goals & objectives to
maximise productivity or profitability. In order to improve operational efficiency as well as
individual performance, organization implements several business practices. This assignment is
based on personal audit of skills which required fitting in a business environment. Individual
knowledge, ability and skills help the business to achieve success and these things will learn in
the academic life of an individual.
MAIN BODY
I am a student of Business School and currently in the first year of my academic life. Here, I
am learning several skills, gain knowledge, improve my ability to perform or achieve something.
These learning are will helps me to get success in my professional career. My academic year was
started from 2018 and that time i have few skills such as communication, Time management,
team working skills, problem solving, numeracy skills etc. Students who master the subtleties of
oral speech and non-verbal signals are better equipped to express their thoughts, demonstrate
empathy for others and settle a dispute in a positive way. Great communicators are more likely to
excel compared to those who fail to express themselves, and are perceived as good leaders.
Often, they tend to achieve greater profit ability.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are important for quick and accurate
delivery and comprehension of information. It is a critical life skill to be able to communicate
effectively and should not be ignored (Del Giudice And et.al., 2018). As a student, it is very
essential to have communication skill in both forms which make my journey very easy. In the
academic life, students receive many group assignments and individual coursework where they
have to give presentation in front of many people. Such kind of activities used to identify the
potential of students and further they take actions to improve it. From 2018- 19 session, my
communication skills was not so good because my verbal communication was not so well due to
lack of confidence. Written communication skill is much better than verbal and i have improved
both of them. But currently this skill is quite improved because of regular learning through
interacting with many people and practicing my own.

Communication not only used in academic career at the time of giving presentation but
also required in the future when i am going to work in a organization (Fredholm And et.al.,
2019). Further i have to present myself to my superior, taking part in meetings, interact with
many people etc. In a business environment, communication is most important factor to provide
success. During my academic learning, i am improving my skills and further it helps me to
perform well in the business environment to effectively communicate with others. In the group
task, communication is the most essential skill that is required to perform or achieve their goals
& objectives.
Teamwork skills are the attributes and ability that enable you to work together during
interactions, tasks, meetings or other partnerships with others. Having teamwork skills depends
on how well you communicate, listen actively and be responsible and truthful. It is one of the
important skills which i learn from my academic duration. From the day when i join the business
school and yet, i am improving myself in team working skills because in the collage life, we all
have to work in a team to complete our group assignments and presentation. But in future, this
skill is also helps me in organization where i will be the member of any team task or the person
who lead the group (Crane And et.al., 2019). By the way, when i was enrolling myself in the
Business School from that time i already have this skill. Basically it was my strength from that
period and i do not need to improve it. Team work skill always required and it helps me in my
academic when tutor make team for group assignments. That time i managed things very well
and lead the entire team of my own without any conflict or issues.
In the future, this skill helps me to manage team of many people when i am working in the
organization. Any task, which assign by my superiors to me will completed perfectly with the
help of this ability. In addition, individual should have this skill which helps in making effective
team who can achieve any task or objectives which given by the managers of the business.
Employers are searching for applicants with clear organizational skills for several reasons —
such as showing leadership, coordination and good communication. Employers want the
workforce to be team leaders (Mathews And et.al., 2018). Teamwork is needed for virtually
every sector from enterprise solutions to food services to information technology.
Problem solving is another most essential skill which every individual should have
because it is not beneficial in the academic life but also important in the workplace. In my
academic career when i was first year student of business school, problem solving is the worst

skill which i need to improve because i know that will be required in the business. Currently i am
capable in this skill because in my academic life i have to use this skill and resolve my issues at
my own risk. One of the most important tasks of a manager is problem solving. This also falls on
the members of an organization on find the answers to tough issues that are often a source of
considerable perplexity and frustration for the organisation. Managers, who are able to look
about the facts thoroughly, evaluate the problem and find an appropriate and functional solution
can enable the company to survive and prosper.
Effective problem- solvers can guide team members to achieving goals by removing
dissatisfaction, confusion and misconceptions before becoming impossible to manage. They
develop people to people communication and teamwork, remove the need for rework and
encourage quality improvement (Pieroni, McAloone and Pigosso, 2019). They can note a
deviation from normal team results such as a missed deadline or an unfulfilled sales goal and
these managers will immediately start the problem-solving process when the team's plans go off
the rails. I improve my problem solving skills through analysing the root cause of particular
issues and after that evaluate everyone’s perspective about issues. I am listing each possible
solution and measure each of that and find the best suitable solution for it. As a student, i learn
many things which help me in the future to improve my professional career or achieve the
success which I wanted. I improved my problems solving skills along with time management
that is another ability that required in the student life as well as in the future when I am going to
work in an organization.
Time Management is the method of arranging and preparing how to split the time
between different tasks (Sharma, Beveridge and Haigh, 2018). Effective time management helps
us to work smarter not harder. So you can do more in less time, even when time is short and
expectations are high. Good time management skills make students plan activities so they can
complete the research and assignments on time. Students are able to do these things, allocate the
time required for tasks and assignments and make much better use of such time. By being better
at handling time, students may become more coordinated, more comfortable and develop more
successfully. It could also make students escape the dreaded issue of laziness, which can be a
dangerous path to tension, disappointment and low grades. In high school students it is
particularly necessary to have good time management skills. When students reach high school,
