The company in discussion, Truss Construction Company is known to have been facing
major issues in the internal operations of the company. These internal issues might lead to the
decrease in the competitive advantage of the organization due to the degradation in the overall
performance of the organization. The following paper attempts a discussion on the issues that
have been presented in the operations of the concerned organisation, Truss Construction
Company. The paper opens with the proper explanation of the problems that are faced by the
company. The paper then proceeds further to analyse the various issues that have been identified
within the organisation. The paper discusses an array of alternative viewpoints that might be
obtained for resolving the situation. The paper finally reaches a conclusion with a set of
recommendations that might help in the prevention of the discussed situations in the future.
Explanation to the problem
The major problem that is discussed within the given case study refers to the issue of the
accident that occurred during the conduction of the quality tests within the construction company
in discussion, Truss Construction Company. The accident had taken place in the organization
during the conduction of the quality analysis testing for the loads along the horizontal axis. This
had resulted in the breaking apart of a portion of the truss which had fallen down on the head of
one of the hoist operators who was present there in order to assist the testing of the truss. The
accident had resulted in the conditions wherein the concerned operator has been left with serious
injuries as well as had to be hospitalised with an induced comatose state.
The incident had led to a huge setback for the company in discussion, Truss Construction
Company due to the high amount of investments on the part of Truss Construction Company.

be supported by the truss. The failure of the truss to carry the load had led to the contradiction of

led to the slowing down of the production of the trusses which in turn has posed the threat of the
loss of the clientele who might pull out their orders with the concerned company due to the delay
that is experienced in the delivery of the concerned products of the company. This might lead to
the conditions that tend to deal with the revenues that are earned by the organization (Li et al.,
2015). The lowering of the revenues within the organization might lead to a plausible condition
of the financial crisis within the company as well.

The case study further suggests that the news of the accident was leaked to the press by
an employee of the organization who had been serving as a worker in the production line of the
company, Truss Construction Company. This had resulted in the involvement of the department
of the public relations within the organization in the incident. The concerned department had to
release a statement to the press stating the fact that the company has been investigating the

situation as well as taking steps in order to prevent the occurrence of such incidents in the future
days.

The company in discussion, Truss Construction Company has been facing a number of
problems with regards to the various issues that are presented within the departments of the
production as well as the ethical practices that are maintained by the staff. The organization has
been facing issues regarding the management of the quality assessment of the products that the
company has been marketing.
Identification and defining the problem
The major problems that have been derived from the case study state that the concerned
department of the company has not been looking into the issues of the weight overload within the
given organization. The improper testing of the load capacity of the truss had led to the accident
in the first place. This issue has thrown major light on the various issues within the company on
the basis of the safety measures that are undertaken by the company. The other issue that was
highlighted in the case study referred to the development of the safety factors that would help the
staff of the given organization. The case study has mostly highlighted the fact that the company
lacked the preparations that would ensure the safety of the people who have been serving the
organization. The majorly injured in this case referred to the person who had been injured while
supporting the activities of testing the capacity of the truss.
The company is also reported to have been facing issues in the development of the
various factors that have been dealing with the cost-effective nature of the concerned
organization. The organisational workforce should be trained so that they meet the delivery

requirements within the given time that is allotted to them for the proper construction of the truss
(Choi, Hwang & Lee, 2017). The employees of the organization serving in the production
departments should hold knowledge on the exact load bearing capacity of the truss. The lack of
this knowledge lead to the conditions wherein there is a miscalculation of the capacity leading to
the serious safety issues for the employees of the organization (Hansen et al., 2018). The
company has also been facing issues in the matter that bear relevance to the ethical factors within
the given organization. The major break in the ethical practices within the organisation is
observed in the case of Faruch Habib, an employee who had leaked the details of the accident to
the press and the other news media. The lack of the ethical factors among the communications of
the employees might at times lead to the critical situations within the organization (Pagell, Veltri
& Johnston, 2016).
Alternative viewpoints
The company might be suggested a variety of measures in order to deal with the issues
that the company has been facing in the recent times. The concerned company might be advised
to deal with the development of the relationship that is presented within the department of the
public relations within the company as well as the department of the human resources within the
company (Carayon et al., 2015). This might be helpful in the development of the internal as well
as the external communications within the organization (Lay et al., 2016). This might have
helped in the development of the better communication within the organization thereby arrest the
conditions of the information leak within the organization.
The truss that was being tested should be tested on the basis of the materials that were
used for the construction of the truss. This would help in the development of the ways in which
the concerned organization would be determining the high and the low threshold limits in case of

the trusses thereby leading to the avoidance of the mishaps (Theodore, Gutelius & Burnham,

The promotional measures that were undertaken by the organization should be done more

implement the various safety measures in order to seek a proper relief from the accidents that
have been occurring within the given organization. The organization should implement several
measures in order to deal with the issues of the safety (Grant & Smith, 2018). This would help in
averting the conditions of the accidental occurring within the given organization.
The company should also implement the various processes that are required for the
development of the mechanisms that would arrest the loss of the lives of the concerned staff in
case the testing goes wrong (Franco, Costa & da Silva Almeida, 2018). The place of the
positioning of the support personnel should ensure the safety and the protection of the employee
from the various life risks (Everett et al., 2018). This would prevent the various accidents that
might take place while testing the load capacity of the truss.
The company should also be advised to take special care of the manufacture as well as
the process of engineering that is employed within the company. This might in turn help in the
development of the trusses that are devoid of any issues. This would also help in the smooth
functioning of the concerned production department of the concerned company in discussion,
Truss Construction Company (Cui et al., 2018).

Thus, from the above discussion, it might be concluded that the company should develop
a department that would take care of the safety measures that should be implemented within the
