INTRODUCTION
This present report is going to analyse about purpose and principles of different
organizational forms on which basis The Clarence hotel can achieve their objectives. Application
of principles of organizational communication also help the hotel to expand their business within
Sri Lanka and to enhance practices (Mumby, D.K. and Kuhn, T.R., 2018). Further this report
will also evaluate communication practices for themselves & other as well.
Aim: To facilitate interdepartmental cooperation within an organization.

Analyses of purpose and principles of different forms of organizational communication
Organization communication refers a process by which people of an organization convey
company's determined goals & the way to reach them (Mitra and Fyke, 2017). There are several
types of organizational communication that play an important role in achieving organizational
goals. Formal, informal, communication on the basis of direction like upward, downward and
horizontal communication. The main 3 forms of organizational communication includes internal,
external and personal communication. There are some purpose and principles of organizational
communication that are being described as below:
According to the (Driskill, 2018) the preliminary aim and purpose of organizational
communication is to reduce conflicts by informing employees and people of the company
effectively. An effective communication can help Clarence hotel in defining clear roles and
functions of employees by which they can work productively. It is not only good for employees
but also beneficial for manager of the company because it makes them more able to perform their
basic functions like planning, organizing, motivating & controlling. When manager and leaders
perform their roles and functions effectively and without getting influenced then it leads to
profitability and overall productivity.
Different forms of organizational communication have some principles on which basis
Clarence hotel can implement communication at their workplace as it wants to expand its
business within Sri Lanka. Principles of organizational communication includes correctness,
clarity, conciseness, completeness, correctness and courtesy. According to the (Santos,
Rodrigues and Branco, 2016) When manager of an organization focus on principles of

communication then it can easily achieve their goals. The main goal of this hotel is to increase
cooperation between organizational departments for reducing errors from work. The main
purpose of an effective communication is to remove barriers of communication like cultural
barrier, behaviour barrier, An effective communication can help the company as a strong tool.
Employees can complete tasks by having clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities
towards their tasks and works., So it can be said that different forms of organizational
communication has various purpose and principles which encourage people of the company.

Application of principles of effective communication to enhance practice
There are several Principles of an effective communication like integration, adequacy &
consistency, feedback, attention, clarity, completeness. By applying all principles of
communication, Clarence hotel make itself able to more focus on their work and motivate
employees. For enhancing practices and supporting this, different viewers give their opinion and
present their feeling in presenting manner:
According to the (Ruben and Gigliotti, 2017) clarity and completeness play an important
role. Clarence hotel is facing technological and linguistic barriers at their workplace because
different culture of people work in this hotel which find difficulties in interacting with each
other. By applying these principles, the manager of Clarence hotel can remove cultural and
linguistic barrier from their workplace. Communication and informations with clarity make all
different cultural people able to clearly understand informations and their roles which can solve
this type of problem. Completeness also decrease misunderstanding from workplace which can
increase employees productivity and efficiency. When employees do not have complete
informations then it often leads misunderstanding which can have negative impacts on their
relationship and become the reason of conflicts. So by focusing on completeness principle, the
marketing director of Clarence hotel can accomplish and cooperate interdepartmental
communication (Raman and Sharma, 2015)
Other principles like feedback and attention of an effective communication also plays
significant role (Rahim, 2017). By applying these principles, employees can understand their
own strengths and weaknesses at workplace. By taking suggestions and opinion of all members
of Clarence hotel with the help of feedback, employee can also improve their interpersonal

relationship. In addition to support this view (Mutahar, Rasli and Al-Ghazali, 2015) says that
feedback is an effective principle and tool that can enhance practices. By feedback receiver and
sender of messages can easily understand each other's point of view and according to their views
and effectiveness they can also take corrective actions and increase communication
effectiveness. Clarence hotel wants to facilitate interdepartmental cooperation within an
organization, so it can be said that application of principles like feedback and attention, Clarence
hotel can expand its business within Sri Lanka and also achieve their goals and objectives. When
employees and manager give full attention on someone's informations and messages, then it
decreases the chances of misunderstanding and ineffectiveness of communication. Attention
make employees able to understand things clearly which can solve and decrease their barriers
related to their organizational communication. So it can be said that principle of attention of an
effective communication can encourage and enhance all practices.

Evaluation of communication practices of others & themselves
There are various communication practices like listen actively, responding on a timely
manner, learn about the team's history and culture and feedbacks. It is analysed that Clarence
hotel face several problems and issues that create barriers in the path of their success. It also uses
some measures and strategies in order to know and analyse effectiveness of their communication
(MacGeorge, Feng and Guntzviller, 2016) states that evaluation of communication practices of
others and themselves can act as like an effective tool of overcoming barriers. For evaluation, the
marketing director of Clarence hotel focus on judging the quality of content of their messages. It
is also analysed that strong collaboration can also support the hotel in evaluating communication
practices whether they are listening actively, providing feedbacks and responding on a timely
manner or not.
For evaluating communication practices, there is a requirement of focusing people of the
company and hotel because they are the key elements of an organization. Tey are wholly
responsible for managing/developing communication and decreasing it.
(Özgit and Silman, 2018) States that by analysing and overseeing activities of employees
engagement levels, effectiveness of communication can be evaluated. Effective indicators and
measurements also help the marketing director of the Clarence hotel of Sri Lanka to evaluate

of people of the company is also a big barrier which think differently and have different views.
By applying theories and model of effective communication, the manager of the hotel evaluate
and analyse their employees behaviours.
For more supporting this (Van Ruler, 2015) also says that theories of an effective and
organizational communication, make managers able to identify needs and behaviours of
employees. After analysing and evaluating each practice of communication they can also take
measurable and corrective actions for accomplishing their objective and aim. The main aim of
this report is to improve cooperation between functional departments of the Clarence hotel for
increasing sales and expanding business in Sri Lanka. So, evaluation is the best way of fulfilling
needs and achieving objectives in these ways.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been summarized that different forms of organizational
communication played a vital role in any type of company. It has various purpose and principles
which helped an organization in accomplishing their objectives. Application of principles of an
effective communication like clarity, correctiveness, consistency also supported them tom
increase productivity. With the help of Evaluating and measuring effectiveness of
communication practices for others, an organization and selected hotel has overcome barriers
related to communication.
