Question 1
Of the various countries explored, three regions which were of special interest were:
India, Greenland and the United States (Miami Beach, Florida, United States). In Greenland,
climate change implies further loss of its ice caps and its associated sunlight reflecting
properties, rise in water levels due to melting and higher heat absorption and rise in
temperatures. For India, the rising sea and temperatures due to climate change will result in the
country’s increased susceptibility of being damage by heat waves and floods. In Miami Beach,
climate change will result in increased incidences of the city being affected due to flooding and
hurricanes due to rising sea levels and impact of storm surge (National Geographic).
Question 2
Incidences of climate change has been in the news since recent times, of which, the
article published an Yahoo News, by Knowles (2019), highlights the dangers associated with
rising sea levels in Miami and the efforts by the city to mitigate the same by raising the roads,
increasing the height of sea walls and installation of hydraulic pumping units (Yahoo News).
This article could be related extensively to the documentary since it projects Miami’s efforts and
resultant global communities attempting to work extensively after obtaining inspiration from the
same (National Geographic).
Question 3
Being a resident of the States, I believe that present efforts by the nation makes me and
the general population significantly well equipped for climate change. However, the

documentary enlightened and saddened me on the difficulties faced by developing nations who
may not have adequate financial resources (National Geographic). Climate change is a global
issue and I feel, the US must work collaboratively and assist such countries to fight this menace
as a whole.
