INTRODUCTION
As the world and environment changes, it has great a influence on society as well as on
organisation. This factor also has a great impact on the business activities, decisions, plan and
policies. Some recent contemporary themes are globalisation, corporate social responsibility,
immigration and modifications in laws. These factors have encouraged the firm to bring changes
within an enterprise.
Complete report includes the debate on above mentioned contemporary themes. The
purpose of project is to develop in-depth understanding about current contemporary themes.
Assignment will highlight some contemporary issues that may be faced by organisation due to
changes in the business environment.
1. Globalisation
Globalisation refers to the procedure by which companies develop international influence
or start operating on a global scale. It is also defined as integrating of markets in the world
economy which leads to the increased interconnection of national economies. Globalisation
provides various opportunities to organisation such as expansion. At the same time, it also
creates barriers in the sustainable development.
There are both advantages and disadvantages of globalisation. Some pros of globalisation
are like it provides firm an opportunity to explore and capture wide market opportunities.
Globalization has increased cognition in the world. A merchant can gather valuable information
about commodities in different countries. Globalization contributes in improving the
international relations and friendliness among different nations (Stacey, De Lazzari, Grayson,
and Thomas, 2018)
Increase in gap between rich and poor people, income inequalities, increase in
competition, exploitation of natural resources, etc. are some disadvantages of the globalisation.
Globalization has caused specialisation of labour. On one hand, there is an increase in
demand for skilled labours.
It is required by organisation to consider various factors before selecting the market for
expanding its core business operations. The other solution is that the manager in company should
conduct market research and formulate plans or strategies. As this activity will help firm in

reducing the adverse effect of globalisation on Business (Lerner, Schoar, Sokolinski and Wilson,
2018)
2. Corporate social responsibility
Every business entity has some kinds of responsibilities towards society and
environment. Corporate social responsibility is effective as it provides companies an opportunity
to improve the brand image and gain customer loyalty. The fulfilment of corporate social
responsibility organisation can achieve goals and objectives. This is the only factor that can
support firm in increasing sustainability and continuing business operations in a smooth way.
The effectiveness of corporate social responsibility is that it allows an enterprise to increase
value and enhance employee’s morale. It also aids the firm in reducing risk and helps
organisation in improving business performance. Corporate social responsibility helps manager
in protecting the interest of stakeholders.
Ineffectiveness of corporate social responsibility is that it has a direct impact on the
business performance and outcomes. Some theorists perceive that corporate social responsibility
distracts company from its business goals.
The manager in organisation needs to formulate such strategies that can be aligned with
business objectives. As this activity will help business entity in achieving goals. It is required by
the manager in an enterprise to frame coherent CSR strategies. This activity will support
enterprise in gaining various benefits and resources from social as well as environmental system
(Moore, 2017).
3. The adverse impact of high level of immigration to UK
Migration between countries is a normal and desirable freedom. The problems arise when
migration flows get very large and unbalanced, especially from poor countries. There has been
increase in the population which has led to increase in unemployment and lack or shortage of
resources in the country. This factor further has an adverse impact on the development of nation.
The government in order to cope up with such type of situation is required to invest huge capital
for expansion of school places, roads, rail, health and other infrastructure.

Mass immigration also has negative effect on country’s culture, tradition and values of
domestic people. This factor has an adverse effect or influence on the economic growth of
nation. Immigration may also give rise to several challenges or barriers in maintaining the
cultural diversity and may give birth to other problems such as conflicts. Mass immigration has a
direct impact on the labour market. As due to increase in demand of skilled labour, some
unskilled people residing in the country may not get the employment opportunity. This factor
also has a negative impact on the wages and salaries of already employed workers. The effects of
migration are there is an over-dependence of some industries on migrant labour, for instance the
construction in the UK (Fox, El-Thalji and Altarazi, 2017)
4. Assisted dying should become/remain legal/illegal in the UK.
If assisted dying become illegal then ill people have to suffer against their wishes If the
aim of ‘assisted dying’ is to relieve suffering, could it not be argued that it is illogical to offer it
to terminally ill people, who expect to die in the near future because of natural causes.
As per the Baroness War nock states that making the law for restricting people from
conducting suicide. As such people also have understanding that “life being precious”, but still
they forget that life isn’t a kind of stuff, like water, which has an objective value, and which we
can be urged not to squander, but to preserve. If an individual believes that he or she hates life,
then in such situation no other person can restrict individual to value their own life (Larsen,
Buss, Wismeijer and van den Berg, 2017)
Whereas Baroness Greengross argued that every individual are competent and have brain.
And according to the English law, every person has right to end life.
It is essential for people to gain competencies and strength. So that they could cope up
with the difficult and complex situation in their life (Porter and Warburton, 2018)
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from the report that several contemporary issues not only have
effect on business but have a great impact on individual life as well. It can be articulated from
the project that globalisation has created various opportunities for company but, it has also
developed some barriers in the sustainable development. Assignment has concluded that
