2.3 CONTRACT DOCUMENTATION PHASE
The contract documentation phase is really where the details of a project’s
design are finalized. During this portion of the project, the architect and
engineer had finished the design and produced the documentation that will
guide all of the stakeholders in the project to moving forward. Besides, this
phase is where all of the information gathered during the schematic design
and design development phase is put together and finalized. I assisted En.
Isamrisaudin Mohamed to finish the final drawing for the project.
After the final drawing gets the approval by the architect. I was assigned by
my supervisor to handover the drawing to Building and Quantity Surveyor
Department to updating the cost estimation of the project. An updated
estimation of construction costs will be generated and a meeting with the
client will be held between the architect and client. I was not fortunate to not
have the opportunity to attend the meeting because I needed to accompany
my supervisor to make an inspection at the hospital.
After obtaining the approval by the client, the bidding session will be held at
the JKR office that leads by the architect. It is because the architects have a
better understanding than anyone of what the design will require from the
contractor and evaluating the results of the tenders and may be able to make
a recommendation for which contractors are ideal for carrying out the design.
