Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is treated as the business model which defines the
responsibility of the business towards the environment, society and the government (Chaudhri,
2016). The essay will discuss the definition of CSR and the ways UAE organizations such as
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Elisalat are implementing CSR.
CSR is defined as the organization’s efforts for making the business sustainable through
fulfilling the obligations towards the society and the government. This is regarded as the duty of
the organization to make engagement in the ethically-oriented practices and integrating the social
and environmental goals along with earning of the sustainable profits (Grayson & Hodges,
2017). This also involves ongoing interactions with the stakeholders which involves the
requirements of the business to protect the interests of the stakeholders. Similarly, UAE
organizations like Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Elisalat are successfully making the
CSR practices into the business by serving the needs of the stakeholders.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is the seventh-largest reserves oil organization of United
States of Emirates which have mission of the innovation and high performance which strives to
provide the value to the energy resources. The company has implemented the CSR practices
through taking care of stakeholders. For example, the company has implemented Customer
Interaction Centre to gather the needs and expectations of the priorities of the customers.
Besides, the CSR initiatives can also be seen from the Ramadan activities for the promotion of
the socially responsible initiatives and supporting of the charitable fundraising campaigns. Also,
the company has been committed to protect the environment through the reduction of the toxic
emissions by the building up of environment-friendly green service stations of fuels (ADNOC,
2020).
Another example of CSR can be seen from the Elisalat which is telecommunication company of
UAE provides the internet services and TV packages. The company has made the corporate
social responsibility strategy through the showing up of commitments towards the communities.
Also, the company has made CSR initiatives for environment and made the customers satisfied
with the value-added services and the community-enriched services which can lead to the
positive impact on the profits of the company. The community-based initiatives of the company

can be seen from the program of the company such as Etisalat’s Mobile Baby Program in Africa
which aims to support the pregnant women of rural areas (Elisalat, 2020). The environment-
based programs include the success energy star initiative which has been aiming to reduce the
greenhouse emissions from the buildings of UAE. The company has therefore made use of these
initiatives for the securing the responsibility towards the various stakeholders.
Conclusively, this can be determined that Corporate Social Responsibility shows the efforts of
the organization in the light of the community-based initiatives and making approaches for
