Introduction
In this study, the main focus is on the development of any organization and it needs to be
managed by the proficient manager to sustain the growth and expansion of the business. The
process of developing manager is to enhance their set of skills for managing the operations and
functions of any workplace to accomplish the proficient objectives and goals. This procedure can
include the training and development process, social and cultural development procedure,
leadership quality enhancement and many more. In this study, the examples of TUI and Thomas
Cook organizations have been taken for describing the developing manager process. As in recent
time, the travel and tourism market is the foremost industry over the worldwide that enhances the
globalization and modernization along with trends in surroundings.

1.1 Compare different management styles
In the UK, the sector of travel and tourism is continuously growing with rapid movement speed
and that also contribute to the nation’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product). The organizations of UK
like TUI and Thomas Cook are providing the good quality of products and services to their
clients and consumers with the help of effective process management for their resources. Both
the organizations and the workplaces have their own management system with their best
management style for designing and development of the goods and services that are a trend in the
market and used by most of the customers and that is mostly in demands by the customers. They
also provide some training session for their staff and employees to utilize their resources with
good extent. Both the organizations that are TUI and Thomas Cook use these management styles
for achieving and accomplishing their targets and goals of their workplaces and these
management styles can assist the support of their employees and staff members.
TUI-
TUI is the foremost brand in UK industry of travel and tourism that provide the complete
services for their customers and consumers. For the management of quality of goods and
services, the best management style is Consultative management style. As per this style, the
supervisor and manager are predicting the needs and task and provides the training to their
employees and staff to fulfill the needs of customers. This management theory can help in two-
way communication process development between the organizations and also improve the
hierarchical arrangement for duties and roles allocation process to managers and employees as
per their capabilities and skillsets (Holten, et. al., 2015).
Thomas Cook-
Thomas Cook is very popular for their good quality goods and services and for the maintenance
and development of these services required the accurate roles and responsibilities allocation to
managers and employees. The Thomas Cook organization uses Active management style for
maintaining their functions and operation process that engage the employees of an organization.
With the help of this management style, the Thomas Cook organization can concentrate on
functional requirements, self-actualization, and protection and security aspects that assist the
employee’s motivation for their performance enhancement. This management style can help in
motivating the employee. Also, active management style can help the firms to get the feedback
from the employees’ so that further improvement work and planning activities can be
implemented on employees’ for better growth and expansion of employees to achieve and

by the TUI business are authoritarian and democratic leadership style. In the sector of travel and
tourism, the authoritarian leadership style permits the business to take decisions in the presence
of any kind of disturbance. Here, one person can make his/her decisions by itself and can also
control the authority over other employees. For instance, the manager at the TUI has full control
and power for making decisions that can be marketing, judicial and financial decisions and hence
they were called as an authoritarian leader. The decisions made in the leadership of authoritarian
leaders are very quick as few people are included in the decision-making process. Another part is
a democratic leadership style, where the decisions were taken by the entire team but the final
decisions are announced by the democratic leader to their employees. For the completion of any
task, the employees play a vital role so they need to be motivated with time and the democratic
leader is responsible for boosting their morale. So when there are some changes in TUI
organization, the democratic leadership style can help the employees of the organization to

and involve the team members in arrangement and culture of the hotel to deploy the good quality
products and services to the customers. Such a method will assist the goals and objectives of the
workplace so the customer need and requirement get fulfilled and achieve the satisfaction of the
consumers. For the motivation purpose for the team members at the hotel following task should
be accomplished-
Motivation-
Motivation is the key element for the better performance of the organization. The motivation is
necessary for boosting up the morale of staff members and to involve them in activities of hotel
services. For that, some motivational theory like Maslow hierarchical theory of motivation is
required to fulfill their needs and requirements. It will enhance the decision-making process that
will result in better productivity of the hotel.
Team Building-
For better performance and success of the hotel, a team formation is must and for that, a duty
manager must have proper knowledge and experience regarding the team formation guidelines.
