Introduction
Basically, pursuing EdD program needs a lot of effort. This means that for one to succeed in the
EdD program there is a need to concentrate on the concept contained in the course. The EdD
program most of the times attracts the innovative learners who have the leadership skills that aids
in training other learners in different concepts (Gibson, Shanks & Dick, 2017). The paper tries to
elaborate on how my academic details and professional skills equipped me to pursue the EhD in
education.
How my academic experience prepared on pursuing EdD.
Generally, the main aim of learning is to prepare learners for new careers and also acquiring new
knowledge. Some of the academic professional skills which have enabled me to prepare for the
program are;
First, EdD requires 54 credits for degree completion. I have completed the credits needed to
pursue the program. I have gained adequate knowledge that will assist me in pursuing the
program. This is attributed to my academic level and therefore I am determined to pursue the
program. According to Kelley, Smith and Fox (2013) knowledge directs learners on what is right
and wrong. This means that I have gained knowledge which is related to EdD in education.
Pursuing the program at higher levels means that I have knowledge of how to handle teaching
practices and how to manipulate different data to describe a common phenomenon. In addition, I
have been demonstrating strong ethics and commitment in my profession and therefore I think all
these features will enable me to handle the concepts in the course.
The other concept which encouraged me to pursue the program was the issue of the social
network (Snaith, Harris & Harris, 2016). This means that I have been interacting with different

learners to increase their workplace leadership skills. In my current profession have been
struggling on how to control the subordinates in the workplace and that's why I have decided to
apply for the program. Leadership skills are the key aspects which help in regulating the
behavior of subordinate in the workplace. Without adequate skills then it will be difficult to
maintain a good relationship with other subordinates (Watts & Imig, 2012).

offers a solution.
