The principles of emotional intelligence include:
Self-awareness: The concept highlights the ability of the individuals to identify their own
emotions.
Self-control: Self-control allows the individuals at the workplace to communicate freely.
Adaptability: Adaptability makes the individuals more flexible at workplace thereby, easily
handling any circumstances at work1.
Empathy: Empathy is defined as the ability to view things from everyone’s perspectives.
Conflict Management: The ability to manage conflict is essential for the leaders, as they have to
manage a diversified workforce that might encounter conflicts due to varied preferences,
opinions, and mindsets2.
The basic strategies of ensuring emotional intelligence are by paying more attention to
individual emotions daily; improving non-verbal communication, sharpen social skills, being
empathetic.

Emotionally effective people ensure better achievement of business objectives. This is
because the individual has the ability to identify their emotions and not let it influence their
work. The emotionally effective individual will have the quality of viewing things from
everyone’s perspectives keeping their personal agenda aside. This will help in establishing a
strong bond with the team along with the establishment of positive working environment
thereby, making it easy to attain the business objectives successfully3.
1 c) Explaining methods of communicating with a diversified workforce with varying
cultural emotions
Effective communication is the key to the successful achievement of the organizational
goals and objectives. The various methods of communicating with a diversified workforce with
varying cultural emotions include learning how host culture best receives communication,
training the employees of the host and the home countries and assigning mentors to monitor.
Additionally, practicing open-door communication and playing by the rules of the diversified
workplace. This helps in maintaining a positive working environment at a diversified workforce4.
1 d) Explaining the use of emotional intelligence while building effective workplace
relationships
Emotional intelligence can be used for building effective workplace relationship.
According to the key principles of emotional intelligence, identifying individual emotions is
crucial. This provides an opportunity for the individuals not to let their emotions hamper their
decisions and actions professionals. Moreover, being empathetic will enable the individuals to

and opinions of all the employees involved and work towards achieving the organizational goal5.

Identifying the impact of own emotions on others
My strengths include patience, spontaneity, trustworthy, team-oriented and responsible.
However, on the contrary, my weakness includes moody, strict, controlling, dominating, loose-
tongued, rude and stubborn. My patient nature helps me in listening to all the individuals in my
surrounding environment without being bias. This nature also helps me in communicating with
all the individuals being calm and composed. Therefore, due to my patient nature, individuals
around me feel comfortable in communicating and interacting with me. I am able to comfort
others due to my patient nature. Additionally, my spontaneity nature helps me in taking
initiatives and act instantly according to the current situation. This nature of me makes me
reliable for others, as they can depend on my instincts and me. I am extremely trustworthy in
nature due to which others find me reliable. Other people can trust me with their tasks, as they
have a firm belief on me that I would maintain their secret as well as complete their task
appropriately. I am extremely team-oriented that makes me think and work by considering the
perspectives of all the individuals working within the team. Due to this nature, I am able to
consider the perspectives of all the members by keeping personal agenda aside thereby, resolving
conflicts between others. My responsible nature also makes others believe in me with their
requirement.

However, my moody nature sometimes makes me flustered on others due to which lack
of communication occurs. In certain instances, my moody nature prohibits or restricts others
from communicating and interacting with me easily. My moody nature highlights other
behavioural traits within me such as dominating, stubborn, loose-tongued and strict that restricts
others from interacting with me. Due to my weakness, other tend to be hesitant in approaching
me in some need.
Recognizing and responding to the emotional states of others and promote the development
of emotional intelligence
The various emotional states encountered by others include fear, sadness, happiness,
surprise, disgust, and anger. Therefore, the methods of promoting emotional intelligence among
others include:
Avoid interrupting or changing the subject that makes the individuals uncomfortable.
Avoid editing or judging the feelings quickly
Try to interconnect or inter-relate things
Individuals need to interconnect their feelings and thoughts
Individuals need to tune in to their unconscious feelings
Individuals need to ask themselves every day on how do they feel
Individuals need to reflect on their own emotions by taking some to sit down every day
Individuals need to consider the perspectives of others
Individuals need to be extremely observant
Individuals need to use the pause and explore the way for developing their emotional
intelligence6
