INTRODUCTION
In today competitive scenario there is a huge competition in employment and employer
us having great option to hire an employee for an organisation. So, to be consistent with job and
with an business firm employee have to develop an satisfactory employability skills to achieve
objectives. This helps in acquiring a growing carer within business (Andrews and Russell, 2012).
Employee ability skills can be defined as the set of competencies that are required by a person to
perform specific task in the firm. Today's businesses are having huge variant of job determiners
which requires different skills and capabilities in order to accomplish all task responsibility
efficiently.
Travelodge is a business entity engaged in delivering its services in hospitality industry
and contributing in growth for travel and tourism industry. In order to accomplish all objectives
of firm like maximizing sales and earning more profit, maintaining good communication and
policies to satisfy customers should be accomplished through a skilled motivational employee
recruitment in organisation. This is also can be achieved through providing appropriate training
to employee to develop their abilities and skills (Jackson, 2014).
In this particular report responsibility of a Manager in hotel Travelodge is discussed and
the improvement techniques achieve desired standard of performance is also defined. This report
deals with various communication methods to share information between different levels.
TASK 1
1.1 Responsibilities and Performance of objectives.
Every job specification is designed in compliance with defining job responsibility of
individual. Employer describes job responsibility and employability skills required by
organisation according to different positions of firm in order to accomplish target of firm
effectively. Along with this recruitment responsibilities of an employer, Employee is also having
duties towards acquiring all the requirement of task performance and defined their own
objectives related to the targets of a job (Baker and Henson, 2010). Every employee should be
known with their responsibilities and duties that are to be fulfilled during working with any firm
and define standards of a performance. While working as a Manager is Travelodge hotel I have
to deliver my duties responsibly in order to achieve defined goals of performance by myself.

The Responsibilities of me as a Manager of Hotel is that The manager should work in
conversation with other departmental manager to maintaining a good performance in company.
The Travelodge manager should maintain an effective communication system in firm.
Organisation Manager should maintain a good relationship in functions in order to resolve issues
effectively in firm. Manager is having responsibility to manage the task in team allocating
resources optimally. Manager performance is should be working in compliance with the vision
and mission of hotel. Manager should participate in the organisation meetings while developing a
strategic plan or decisions for growth of firm (Belt, Drake and Chapman, 2010). The managers of
hotel should work in compliance with the legislations and have an utmost important duty towards
developing policies in firm and implementation them strictly in working environment.
Organisation manager should various motivational preprogramed in order to leads and direct the
employee through good leadership qualities.
The various Performance objectives of an individual working in compliance with the
responsibility of job in organisation environment are that as a manager I should develop an
effective communication skill in my behaviour in order to direct others effectively. As
accomplishing my duties in the Travelodge hotel, I should maintain performance standards in
order to enhance my presentation skills. The performance goals of me, working as manager of
firm should work appropriately in compliance with government laws and policies and norms of
firm too (Benson, Morgan and Filippaios, 2014). I should develop a participate nature if working
environment in order to take parts in meetings of director to develop a profitable and efficient
discussion for hotel growth. I should also have defined my objectives as to develop good
pleasant personality in working surrounding in order satisfy customers through grateful welcome
and accessing their issues confidentiality. I should develop various accountable skills in order to
make an appropriate decision through regulating the investment requirement and expenses of
firm working organisation working in correlation with accountant manager of hotel. I should
define my performance objective according to the targets and objective of organisation growth so
that in can contribute effectively in profitability of organisation efficiently.
1.2 Evaluation of own effectiveness.
It is necessary to evaluate own skills in order to achieve targets of performance standards.
I should carry out a self-assessment in order to identify my strength and weaknesses and
capability skills (de Guzman and Choi, 2013). Then after evaluating my effectiveness over the

desired performance standards, I should work on my loop holes which can enhance my
performance. Evaluation of a useful process for identification of current performance and
responsibility accomplished by me and the desired goals that should be achieved efficiently.
Through training and development program I can judge my effectiveness of performance
after pre and post self-assessment of skills to accomplish task appropriately working in
compliance with defined standards. As a manager in Travelodge hotel in should develop an
creative and critical thinking in order to resolve issues appropriately. The training of acquiring
this compatible skill that in should particular in brainstorming practices to enhance my decision
making skills. I have n medium level creative thinking and I can enhance this competency in my
working behaviour through taking part in various training and development pre-programmed.
As a manager is should achieve good communication skills. I can evaluate my skills
through analysing performance and effectiveness of leadership through assessing action of
employee in working environment after my direction (Dhiman, 2012). I can develop good
communication skills through participating in various development plan and can learn about
greeting consumers effectively and dealing with employee in a directive way is that they can
follow my leadership. As a manager I can take part in various language training in order to deal
with the customers from the various countries. This helps in accomplishing their demands
effectively in hotel premises.
1.3 Recommendation to improve performance.
The recommendation towards improving effectiveness of my performance in organisation
environment involves selection of appropriate training and development programmes in order to
enhance employability skills. This competence helps in achieving defined targets of performance
efficiently. I have analysed through my evaluation of effectiveness of action that I am lagging
behind in good representable skills along with I have developed some introvert kind of behaviour
(Durrani and Tariq, 2012). This may negatively affect my performance in company. So, in order
yon improve my performance I have to gain good presentation skills. This can be achieved
through gaining higher confidence level through various development program. The confidence
helps in resolving different issues and I can react to situation in organisation surrounding
efficiently.
Enhancing presentation skills helps in directing various teams and employee through
developing a good leadership style. As a manager I have to develop skills to express my view in

front of other confidently in order to participate in decision making process of organisation. This
can be achieved through developing confidence in problem solving, reasoning exercises and
other brainstorming processes. This helps in developing a creative thinking in my working and I
will develop an appropriate confidence in resolving issues. I should develop a good
communication system in the working environment of firm so that this helps in identifying
various loop holes of functioning of firm and how I can improve my performance to reduces
different weaknesses in operations of business entity in order to achieve targets of firm. Other
skills that I should develop through training programme is working in integration as a team
through sharing goals. This is an important aspect for the growth of organisation. This can be
achieved by organisation an extra curriculum activities of team work. This can be achieved
through motivating team a unity through organising various supports activity in the working
environment (Ju, Zhang and Pacha, 2012). Another skill that can be enhanced by me as a
manager is that I can develop higher confidence through interacting with customers and
engaging myself in social activities. So, through these following recommendation can improve
my performance to large extent in order to achieve standard goals of managers responsibility in
Travelodge.
1.4 Motivational techniques to improve performance.
Every person needs some motivation in order to accomplish their performance objectives
effectively. The motivational factors depend on the needs and individual interests of performance
to large extent. The motivation for me can be both in terms of financial benefits and non-
monetary remuneration. Motivation brings confidence and passion on working style of an
employee in organisation hand helps in achieving strategies of standard performance in the
business premises (Omar and et. al., 2012). According to Maslow's theory it is defined that
motives behind an good performance of an person is desire to accomplish all basic needs. There
are five type of needs and wants for which the individual is working in business i.e. need of
house and food, need of safety and security, sociological needs, esteemed desires and wants of
self-actualisation. Heisenberg also defines the motivation behind the performance of individual
are affected by two factors which are motivation and hygiene factors. The person should
maintain an balance between these factors in order to achieve targets of performance effectively.

Financial motivational: Various monetary benefits is the major motivation aspects for
any of the employee working in organisation. As money is the ultimate reason of working in any
company and this helps in accomplishing all others needs of individual effectively. So, this a
utmost important motive of my to accomplish performance standards effectively and contribute
largely on profitability of firm. Various monetary benefits can be incentives on the extra
performance, bonuses in good performance and other remuneration like house, car etc. this helps
in motivating individual to perform better in hotel. Profit sharing can also be a motivation factor
for individual to enhance the performance standards to manager.
Recognition: This can be defined as that recognition is an important aspect for
motivation of performance. Recognising work of individual helps motivating person to perform
better in working environment (Panagiotakopoulos, 2012). Various rewards, awards, certificates
proved recognition to individual and helps in increasing performance standards of performance
large extent. These develop motivation in working of an individual as the person is influenced
the acknowledgement large extent.
Status: This helps in accomplishing egoistic needs of an individual. Good performance of

in a team I work with more enthusiasm and unity which helps in achieving performance
standards effectively. This bring dedication in employee to contribute positionality in functions
of hotel Travelodge.
Competition: Competitiveness helps in developing new skills in behaviour. Today person
is facing huge amount of competition in jobs which helps in motivating individual to develop
new skills and employability skills in working nature in order to achieve a better position in
working environment of organisation.

2.1 Work based problem.
Every organisation has a complex working structure dealing with different functions in
order to deliver a effective services to customers. These actions are accomplished by different
employee having various employability skills. Sometime non-functioning in organisation
operations leads to development of work based problem because of inability of workforce to
delivery effective performance to workplace. Some of the work based issues faced by
Travelodge working in travel and tourism industry are defined below.
Organisation structure: The large and complex organisation structure can be a reason
behind arise of work based problem is working environment. This leads to misunderstanding in
delegation of responsibility of different employee between workforce. This leads to decrease in
performance level and ultimately negatively effects profitability of firm (Rao, 2014). Due to
clashing various responsibilities of authority in large functional structure of Travelodge leads to
miscommunication in functions of individual which leads to inability to perform task efficiently.
Solution to this work based problem is that a manger can develop an effective communication
channel and allocate task efficiently in order to distribute specific responsibility to certain task

Employee turnover rate: Another work based problem faced in company of hospitality
industry is that higher employee turnover rate. There is lower retention rate of skilled employees
in the workplace of organisation. Retention of individual with firm is non-dependent in various
factor like good remuneration in other competitors’ company, better growth opportunity in
external market, bad working environment in firm (Rosenberg, Heimler and Morote, 2012). This
issue can be resolved through making policy by manger in discussing with financial manager and
HR manager of company. The manager can enhance the remuneration, monetary and non-
monetary benefits to large extent. Manger can develop a good motivation organisation culture in
working environment which motivated employee to stick with hotel for longer time period.
2.1 Different communication styles at various level.
The effective communication system is organisation plays an important role in
implementing various profitable strategies successfully in workplace. This helps in
accomplishing goals of firm effectively. Manger should develop an effective communication
channels which connects the whole organisation structure hierarchy of business entity. Initiating
from the lower level of people, organisation higher authority directs this line of employee
through an informal communication or through different notifications. This can be
communicated through face to face interaction or the use of notices on notice boards. Next to this
level middle level executive are communicated through formal mode of communication like
through use of mails, letters, Memo etc. This line of employee also be informed through
organising, meetings and seminars (Saunders and Zuzel, 2010). While the higher level of
authority of hotel communicates with each other through meeting, reports and conferences.
While the higher management of company communicate to external environment like media
through organising conferencing, videoconferencing, blogs and newsletter. Today company are
suing their official websites to develop an effective communication channel with the
organisation. The employee is informed through emails about any kind of event, conferences and
meetings to authenticate the functioning and keep records in database of firm.

Members who are working in team are needs to use their collective efforts in order to
attain their target. All members having different skills and knowledge which they share while
working in team. They having same motive and objective. Each and every person in team
working play significant role in order to attain their target. They work together and use their
collective efforts. In group working they are able to share information and data which are helpful
for them to attain long term objectives. Through members of Travelodge Hotel are effectively
coordinate with each other and try to meet their basic goal as well. They work with proper
coordination and try to maintain relationship with each other as well. They all are used to frame
proper plans and strategies further which is forecasting process in order to attain their long term
and short term goals and objectives. There is one person who represent entire group and maintain
their performance as well. Used to shares skills and knowledge which every person having
different from each other. Through these members are able to improve their long term learning
and manage performance as well.
As a team member individual should be responsible towards the objectives and gaols of
project. The team members should be working within the defined time scale within the limits of
specified cost constraints. It is role of team members to report the progress of task and

team members.
Thought Oriented role: The individual provides new thoughts and experiences while
working in team effectively. The person is responsible in developing new ideas and creative

3.2 Team Dynamics.
In order to understand the dynamic of team building Tuckman's model defines various
stages of development of an team and increasing performance through different stages ion group
working for shared goals. This follows various stages i.e. forming, norming, storming and
performing stages. In forming stage the members of team start interacting with each other and
get to know about each other. In this stage individual are trying to understand about each other.
While in norming stage the team members are continuously engaged in resolving conflict. This
stage is recognised by high conflicts and misunderstanding between the members of group
(Tymon, 2013). Next stage to this storming which is recognised by the discussion and sharing of
ideas in order to achieve shared goals while developing creative ideas through brainstorming,
this stage is recognised by collaborative working in unity by team members. Final; stage of tea,
dynamic is performing stage. In this the employee of Travelodge hotel shown positive growth in
performance standards and helps in achieving goals effectively.
