INTRODUCTION
Employability is defined as “the capability of doing something and maintain employment
in organisation”. An individual skill should be developed inside or outside which can help them
to retain in organisation for a long period of time. It also gives an opportunity to people to
identify their current skills which will help them to identify suitable job for itself (Aarabi,
Subramaniam and Akeel, 2013). Present report is based on Travelodge company, who is
providing services in hotel sector. The aim of this company is to become favourite hotel for
customers in value. Their strategy is to upgraded Travelodge room which includes innovative
designs and has been created on the basis of feedback customers. In this present report, own roles
and responsibilities has been explained in order to achieve own goals and objectives. Further,
solution has been provided regarding work based which gives experience to manager to perform
their roles. Along with this; different communication styles have been discussed which are used
by organisation at different level. Moreover, roles of people have been discussed and alternatives
ways are explained in which employee can complete their task. In last, appropriate tools and
techniques has been used by organisation to resolving worker’s issues.
TASK 1
1.1 Own responsibilities and performance objectives
There are certain important roles and responsibilities which is essential to fulfil in an
appropriate and efficient manner in a hotel manager job. With great position, great
responsibilities come. Being a manager, I have to manage financial management, planning, the
accountability of budgeting, arranging and direction of hotel services consisting front house
work include reservation, reception, housekeeping and beverage and food management.
Travelodge is a large organisation with 200 hotels around all over U.K. I have to ensure that
management of everything from client service to budgeting, financing is done by the end of the
day and for the next day. In organisation, it will help me to achieve my objectives also.
Here are some roles by being a manager of Travelodge.
Responsibilities-
I have to organise and plan Food and catering system and accommodation.
I have to control the expenses as well as manage financial plans and build budgets.
I have to handle the promotion and marketing of the business.

Identification of Skills: A person should identify his skill and capabilities in order to
complete the task of organisations in planned ways (Andrews and Russell, 2012). Person should
be successful in achieving goals of firms. They should compare themselves with other employees
in order to know about their capabilities and their contributions towards development of
organisation.
Acceptance of Responsibility: A person should successfully complete all his activities
in order to become successful person in life. Responsibilities helps in making a person dedicated
towards their work and thus they put all their efforts in achieving business goals. This is one of
the important ways which are helping in evaluating performances of individuals at work places.
Comparing with different standards: A person should have capabilities to compare
them with other persons in respect to their skills and abilities. This helps in identifications of
week areas so that persons can work on it in order to improve them.

feelings of employees towards the company, misunderstandings due to lack of open
communication, harassment by employees, managers or supervisors. These impact the
behaviour, productivity, and environment of the organization.
As a solution to this, the employees shall be provided with feedback operational sessions,
open discussions among all the employees through group discussion, level meetings, etc. The
employees shall be motivated to work for the company and achieve rewards in return (Choi,
2011).
Ethical issues: The ethical issues raised were in the form of employee theft, providing
discounts other than the company's policies, unfair practices harming the reputation of the
company.
As a solution to this the employees at all managerial level shall be provided with
advanced organizational tracking tool which can prevent from employee theft, personnel shall be
authorised for attending and looking after the customers which represents reliability in
presentation of company's policies. The unfair practices followed were kind of using unfriendly
methods of marketing i.e. spreading negative word of mouth. This can be prevented by resolving
the employee's problem by discussing and providing them adequate remedies so that they do not
harm the reputation of the company.

3.1 Roles of people in a team
An induction programme helps the team members to retain in organisation and perform
its functions effectively. They have to perform their roles and responsibilities in appropriate
manner which help them to achieve goals of Travelodge.
