AI Summary
This report presents an analysis of a biofuel project, starting with the development of a project plan and a detailed examination of third-generation biofuel, including its production and potential benefits. The project focuses on the study of engine performance and emissions, exploring the use of algal biomass to overcome the limitations of current technologies. The report includes a timeline and a communication plan to ensure effective project management. Furthermore, it evaluates the role of engineers in society, ethical considerations, and competency standards, with a focus on Engineers Australia's guidelines. The report also assesses the application of engineering skills, knowledge, and ethical codes to ensure quality work and positive societal impact. Finally, the report evaluates the learning outcomes based on team participation, self-management, and self-review. The analysis highlights the importance of engineers in addressing existing problems and developing sustainable solutions.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Executive Summary
This particular assignment deals with the evaluation and determination of the third generation
bio diesel preparation for the study. In order to effectively carryout the project, a detailed team
charter and project plan has been developed. The detailed project plan has identified the project
goal as exploring the different feedstock’s for Third Generation Biodiesel to its preparation and
conducting detailed study for engine performance and emission. Further, the project focuses for
the derivation of the algal biomass for obtaining alternate biodiesel and for avoiding the
disadvantages of the current technologies. Apart from that, a detailed time line has been
generated for visualizing the schedule and keeping the project progress on track. Before starting
the actual work for the review and evaluation of the project, I have developed the allocation of
the team members and detailed communication plan for ensuring proper flow of information
among the team members. In the first portfolio developed the historical impact of engineers on
the society has been evaluated. From the analysis, it has been identified that the engineers helps
in forming a bridge between the society and science. The work and impact observed from the
engineers helps in making the lifestyle more advances and easy. Nevertheless, it has been
reviewed that apart from having positive impact on the society, the engineers have various
negative impact as well. The work of an engineer deals with the proper balance between the
quality and budget of the project. Often focusing on completing the project within the short
budget degrades the quality of the project. This results in various disasters, financial loss and
even loss of reputation of the engineers. For this context, the ethics and professionalism that
needs to be followed in Australian context. Apart from that, the report also illustrated the various
competency standards and criteria that need to be followed by the Engineers Australia.
Furthermore, for the identification of the competency standards the skills and criteria along with

self assessment has been carried out according to the stage one competency standards. In this
assessment, the engineering application ability and the knowledge and skill base has been
evaluated. Moreover, various codes of ethics has been identified that helps in providing quality
and standard work without compromising on the positive impact of the society. Furthermore, the
responsibility and roles of an engineer has been identified and evaluated based on the undertaken
project work. In this particular assignment, the roles and responsibility of an engineer are limited
to the identification of the existing problem, conducting detailed research and determine the
detailed specification for conducting the study. Moreover, in this project the various aspect and
domain for engineering for obtaining sustainability has been identified and highlighted in this
assignment. Development of the documentation and managing the sensitive information within
the project has been identified as a significant characteristic of for the engineer competency.
Apart from that, in the last portfolio, the learning outcome of the assignment has been evaluated
based on the team participation, demonstration of self management and self review.
