several decisions regarding patient care. The use of best evidence is included in this practice. But
this practice of nursing faces several barriers in the overall nursing and healthcare process. These
barriers decrease the use of evidence in the solutions of patient care (Tacia, et al., 2012) The two
essential barriers in achieving the goal of using evidence-based practice are discussed below-
One of the major barriers is inadequate access to information technology.
The other major barriers are the lack of IT skills that is essential in using evidence-based
practice.
There are different ways included in the process of nursing in which evidence-based practice
may be used. The different ways include:
To analyze the problem of the patient,
To apply several research findings in the particular clinical practice and
To apply these practices in improving patient care.
Thus, for all these processes, the proper knowledge of information technology is
important as without information technology nothing can be performed by the nursing staff. So,
inadequate information technology is addressed in this process (Williams, et al., 2012). All the
process of EBP needs knowledge of information technology and IT skills. So, the major barriers
of EBP are related to these things only. These barriers addressed in these processes.
