Answer 1. The roles of a family nurse practitioner involve a wide range of area. They are
expected to perform the roles of a physician along with a registered nurse. The areas a family
nurse practitioner is supposed to cover are making a proper diagnostic assessment on the patient,
prescribing the proper and appropriate medicines, evaluation and thorough in-depth assessment
of the medical history of the patients along with developing proper care plan (Barnes, 2015). The
work field of a family nurse practitioner ranges from a private home or set up to both hospitals
and other fields that are in requirement of a healthcare professional like schools. Another
specialty of a family nurse practitioner is that they are trained to work in a wide range of fields in
relation to healthcare. Hence they are expected to be able to provide a primary care to a patient
with any kind of health condition, which will be able lower any immediate risk to their physical
health (Fenstermacher & Hudson, 2019). The family nurse practitioners are also expected to
promote the preventive practices to any kind of health problems in their patients.
Answer 2. There are many reasons for my choice of becoming a family nurse practitioner. The
first reason was that I wanted to work with the children, who are at school. The second reason
was that I wanted to study all the fields of medicine and healthcare, so I would be able to help
any patient in need by providing them primary care. Along with that a proper knowledge in all
the fields of nursing and healthcare would be helpful for me in deciding a proper career path.
Another reason for choosing this field was the job stability, demand and the freedom of working
that are associated with this field (Webb, Lopez & Guarino, 2015). A family nurse practitioner is
capable of prescribing medicines and treating their patients independently, since they have a
license for such practices. They are trusted to carry out such activities with the same efficiency
as a physician. Along with that there is a huge demand of the nurses who work as family nurse

practitioners, since their knowledge and efficiency in various fields of medicine and healthcare.
Taking all this advantages into consideration, I chose to become a family nurse practitioner.
Answer 3. The most important clinical experience, which motivated me to become a family
nurse practitioner, involved a ten year old boy. He was admitted to the hospital directly from his
school with a severe stomach pain. After carrying out a proper and detailed diagnosis the doctors
decided the boy had developed appendicitis, which requires an immediate surgery. From the
enquiry it was found that the boy was experiencing a pain in the stomach from the morning but
since the school could not afford the cost of hiring a family nurse practitioner, the matter of risk
related to the physical condition of the little boy went unnoticed until it was severe. When the
surgery was performed in order to remove the appendix, the case was found to be complicated
due to the issue of perforation, which resulted from the late diagnosis of the disease condition. At
that time, observing the child’s pain I strongly felt the requirement of a family nurse practitioner
in every school. If the school had a family nurse practitioner, the nurse would have detected the
problem in that child faster, which would have lowered the suffering of the study. I decided on
that day that I would be a family nurse practitioner and work for schools, which are
economically weak.
Answer 4. I want to work as a nursing professional for 2 years from now. These two years I
want to spend by gathering experiences and knowledge on various fields. The experience of
working with patients of various age groups, which ranges from school children to old people,
ethnic background and of different opinions will help me in further run, while attempting to
decide the best patient care plan. I also want to explore the freedom further that comes with this
job, where I can make a decision in favour of my patient, without consulting with a physician.
After 2 years, I want to be registered with the DNP programme in order to achieve a doctorate
