Task 1:-
(a) There are various legislations which support the policies and processes for the
communication of information on health and safety in the Silver Meadows care home that can
be implemented and are as follows (Gordon et al., 2013):
 Health and safety work act 1974-
This act covers the issues and problems which are related to welfare, safety, and health across the
various sectors. In this act, the employees of Silver Meadows will have an obligation in order to
take care of people of care home and will cooperate with the managers.
 Management of health and safety at work regulations 1992-
Under this act, the managers do the assessment of risk and record the appropriate findings. This
act forces the managers to make such arrangements in order to implement the health and safety
of Silver Meadows care home. The employees are given proper training to take care of the
people of care home.
 Food safety act 1990-
This act includes the food services, storage and preparation of food according to the
requirements. According to this act, the local authorities are the ones who are responsible for
reinforcing through the environmental standards of health and safety.
Therefore, the systems, policies, and processes for the communication of information on health
and safety in the Silver Meadows care home sometimes are compromised and this can be
rectified by working according to the legislations, and some of them are given above.

(b) Health and safety in the Silver Meadows care home are planned by two types of institutions
i.e. government and non-government. In the system of Silver Meadows, the roles and
responsibilities are divided from local authorities to the health department. It also includes the

Meadows and system for monitoring. Silver Meadows is a system of integration in which the all
the bodies of the organization of care home have the responsibilities related to health and safety
in Silver Meadows care home. The management of health and safety of Silver Meadows includes
the techniques which are used in a systematic way in order to identify and remove the hazards of
care home and controlling and monitoring the risk in order to inspire and encourage the behavior
and attitude which is required while using the techniques (Parkes et al, 2013). Let us take an
example of a person who is physically disabled. He will be taken to a restaurant once in a week
because he cannot go alone and he wants to eat pizza every week but the workers know that the
pizza is unhealthy and should be consumed regularly then they will use some technique in order
to motivate and encourage the disabled individual in order to have healthy food without even
shouting at him. Therefore, the management and responsibility are interconnected to the care
home and individuals.
(c) The safety and health priorities are different for every care home. There are some steps
which are to be followed for an individual who is physically disabled in the Silver Meadows
which are given below (Healy et al, 2016):
 In context of individual health-
 It is important to understand the behavior and attitude of an individual who is disabled.
 Identify the reasons for his such type of behavior.
 After the identification of reasons, the treatment is given to him.

 To compromise with the rude behavior of a disabled person.
 It has been tried to understand the level of improvement in the health conditions of a

 Staying away from the drugs.
 Ensure the safety of fire if the disabled person is a smoker.
There should be a positive relation between the managers and the support workers of Silver

Task 2:-

providing the services in the context of health and safety. This can be done by an individual care
planning for residents and in the context of organizational decision-making policies. Further, the
information is collected through the assessment of risk. This includes (Webber et al., 2014):
 Identification as a controller of risk.
 Personnel is needed in order to amend and review.
 Ensuring the hazards are being controlled.
 Mitigation of a residual risk.

In this regulation, the support workers of the care home are given training in order to provide the
first aid, and they are aware of the arrangement of the first aid in the care home.
 Food safety regulations 1995-
It includes the food services, storage and preparation of food as per the requirements. The local
authorities are the ones who are responsible for the reinforcement of the standards of health and
safety.

The care supporters and providers are obliged to provide first aid to the residents of the care
home i.e. Silver Meadows, but in this context, the individuals don't get the equal opportunity
because of the discrimination based on the region, color, religion, etc.
(c) The dilemma is referred to a situation in which a choice is done among the alternatives.
There are various types of dilemma in health, safety, and security which are as follows (Marmot
et al., 2014):

 Rights of consequences of safety and the users of service
 Different priorities among the stakeholders.

The care providers fall under various dilemmas which are related to the decisions of health and
safety. Whereas, some of the dilemmas are ethical in nature. Therefore, these dilemmas can be
encountered in relation to implementing the systems, procedures, and policies for health, safety
and security. And these dilemmas are also addressed in an innovative way.

(d)If the health and safety care providers and the care takers are non-compliance with the
legislation of health and safety of Silver Meadows, then there will be a different impact. The
impact is of two types i.e. fatalities and implications of health. The professional impact includes
closure and fines of the setting, action of disciplinary, etc. therefore, the effect of non-
compliance depends on the legislation. The effect of non-compliance in Silver Meadows is in the
disciplinary action and the health implications to some extent only. Sometimes, the management
of Silver Meadows takes time to make decisions and sometimes it doesn't take any disciplinary
action against someone who is not following the rules and responsibilities. Silver Meadows need
to improve this weak area in order to take care of the individuals of the care home.
Task 3:-
(a) Monitoring and controlling the policies of health and safety is an important aspect of
management of health and safety. The management of the health and safety changes regularly
and it required to be proactive in controlling the monitoring the effectiveness and efficiency. The
monitoring is required for the reasons of cost, legal and morale. There are two ways in order to
monitor the policies which are as follows (Marmot et al., 2012):
 Reactive monitoring-
It referred to the examination of events when they take place. It includes the learning from the
past mistakes whether the results were related to illness, damages, injuries, etc.
 Proactive monitoring-

It is referred to the actions which are taken before the event has taken place. It is done in order to
examine the implementation of standards and controls the management. The audit of safety is
prepared in details.
The inspection of health and safety further includes:
 Inspection of the checklists of the various processes.

work Regulations 1992 is the outcome of refining act 1974. Furthermore, this act requires
employers to further carry out risk measurement and recording the overall findings (World
Health Organization, 2014). For the implementation of this act, it requires care supporters to
make arrangements for implanting different health and safety aspects. As per the case, for
example, there is an individual who is physically disabled has got services of first aid from

different social and health care providers. So, it can be concluded that Health and Safety
Regulation Act 1981 was efficient and significant for the disabled person of the Silver Meadows.
(c) Mainly there are only two points of Evaluation an appraisal. First one is considered as the
personal evaluation, and the second one is the professional evaluation. It is necessary for
someone to ensure their own actions which help mainly in reducing the risk related to health and
safety. It mainly comprises an identification of problems, measuring the obligations, risk
evaluation, developing and implementing different health and safety policies as well as reporting
and monitoring. By looking our own practices towards the health and safety in the Silver
Meadows, it can be concluded that the action plan implementation of Health and Safety
Regulation 1981 is more effective than the other available action plans. Through this people are
able to get immediate first aid services. In order to attain this motive, it requires more
intervention for eliminating different discriminations. For effective evaluation, every care home
should establish different models who help them in conducting the evaluation. In the absence of
effective model the organization needs to provide proper training to their employees which helps
the organization in enhancing the skills of the individual. The evaluation model is helpful in
providing feedback about the performance of someone which can be further improved to take
necessary decision. This can help in conducting evaluation process efficiently.
