Background of study
Corporate social responsibility was a concept where companies integrated social and
environmental concern in their business operation. To be socially accountable is a way of going
beyond the legal expectations by investing more into human capital, the environment etc. The
health and safety of employees is belonged to social responsibilities of Elm tree hotel and can be
regarded as an integral part of CSR (Clarke and Fujimura, 2014). The present study explore the
importance of implementation of health and safety CSR activity in order to retain employees
and to gain better reputation . There are some important drivers behind the CSR that is it lead to
create market opportunities for gaining better reputation in market. Along with this to control the
business risk for the continuity of Elm tree hotel. Apart from this currently Elm tree hotel has not
taken any responsibility for its employee health and safety which lead to decrease in employees
turnover rate. This impact organization profitability as well as its reputation. For this purpose,
current study is conducted for identifying the issues faced by Elm tree hotel regarding health and
safety policy.
