1INFORMATION SYSTEM MANAGEMENT
Week 1:
The discussion in week 1 is regarding the definition of the strategy and its significance in
the different aspects. It can be said strategy is the proper for the implementation of the tasks. The
task can be related to an thing. For the successful implementation of the objective smart strategy
is important. Information strategy is important as it is included in the enterprise architecture. The
information strategy includes the system category, system component, system function and
system type. It has been seen that the organizations are more focused towards the
implementation of the information system strategy solutions and they are giving emphasis on the
implementation of different “tactics” regarding the development of the information system in the
organization. There are certain steps for the implementation of the strategic processes in the
organization. The responsibility of the information system manager is to follow the steps in a
proper way. The initial stage of this process is the strategic business planning where the
assessment of the performance of the system and the outcomes are evaluated. The strategic
planning process indicates the vision of the implementation and the way of implementation of
the system. It also includes the detailed discussion regarding the technology which is going to be
used for the implementation of the system and the evaluation of the proposed managing plan
after the implementation of the information system. The information system manager has ro
follow these process carefully. The act and the decision making ability of the manager is
important in these steps as the whole implementation of the information system is dependent of
strategic implementation. The information system member has to choose the right technology
which will server the enterprise a greater benefits with low overhead cost. Apart from that a good
strategy regarding the information system will help the overall enterprise architecture to become
more flexible and effective.

Week 2:
Week 2 is concerned about the governance of the information system implemented in the
organization. From the general definition of the governance it can be said the governance
regarding the information system includes implementation of the rules, regulations and policies
regarding the use and deployment of the information system in the organization. The
information technology governance includes the process of distribution of the decision making
rights regarding the access and the changes in the IT system. It also includes the mechanism for
monitoring the process of monitoring the implemented information system in the organization. It
can be said that the IT governance is the integral part of the enterprise architecture and
organization decision making process which needs the leadership quality and understanding the
organization structure. The smart governance of the information system will help the
organization to achieve the business objective. Information governance is a part of the
information system governance. It includes managing the information within the organization
regardless its type. There are certain frameworks which will help the information system
manager to manager the process of the information governance in a proper way. Some of the
notable frameworks for the maintain the information in a proper way are ISO, COBIT5, ITIL V3
and PRINCE2. The selection of the framework is dependent on the requirement of the
organization. The information system manager should consider some of the characteristics of the
information and IT governance plan before choosing a certain framework. A good governance
plan should consider and understand the opinions and the requirements of all the stakeholders
involved in the project. Apart from that a good information system governance plan will help
the organization to meet all the goals in the present along with achieving the sustainable
development for the future.

Week 3:
Week 3 is concerned about the definition and the management of the risks. The risk can
be defined as the sudden changes in the process of the organization. Risk can be strategic or
operational. The strategic risk includes not participating in the processes which will help to
achieve the organizational goals or objectives. On the other hand the operational risks includes
mismanagement in the business unit , not managing the cost in a proper way. The risks in the
organization can be calculated in different ways. Based on the different aspects of the risks , the
risk can be categorized into three different categories- known risks, predictable risks and
unpredictable risks. The risks regarding IT can be related to all these three categories. In order to
mitigate the challenges and the issues raise from the risks the mitigation and management plan
for the risk is important. There are certain techniques for managing the risks. Most of the
managers follow the reactive management of the risks. In this case action is taken if something
happens to the system. However, in order to manage the implemented system in a successful way
in the organization the information system manager should take proactive approach for managing
the risk. On this context the manager should taken initiatives to avoid the chances of happening
the risks. However, no system can be perfect. In this cases, some of the small glitches can be
present in the system. In this situation the manager can accept that flaw and can think about the
small chances in the process. Timing and planning are important factors for the mitigation of the
risks. Mitigation can be regarded as the most common risk management planning. The
mitigation can be done on the various fields like mitigation of the probability of happening of the
risks of the mitigation of the impacts of the risks. There are certain techniques like risks break
down tool and risk analysis can be implemented to manage the risk. In this course the
identification , analysis of the risks and planning to resolve and manage the risk is important.

4INFORMATION SYSTEM MANAGEMENT
Week 4:
In the practice of the information system and technology deployment of the emerging
trends is a concerned thing. The main characteristic of the emerging technology is that this type
of technology is not used by many people and the implementation of the technology has not been
done largely for most of the organizations. The process of defining a technology as emerging is
also dependent on the perspective and the situation of the social and economic condition of the
market or the country. The main responsibility of the information system and technology
manager is to identify the emerging technology and its relevance in achieving the organizational
objectives. In order to do this the managers are needed to evaluate the policies regarding the
implementation and usage of the emerging technology. This will follow the procedures of the
implementation and the research regarding the strength and the weakness of that technology. The
assessment of the risk is important regarding this context. From the business perspective the
information technology manager also has to consider the ratio regarding the return on investment
and the cost for the implementation. In order to implement the emerging technology in the
process of the information system in the organization proper training is needed to be given to the
users of that technology . Apart from that the risks from the capital investment regarding the
investing in the implementation of the emerging technology is needed to be considered in this
matter. Some of the examples of the emerging technologies are 3D printing technology, vast
usage of IoT in different systems.
