Introduction:
The Spice Room is an Indian restaurant located in Sydney and is famous for serving
purely Indian food and the spices added to the foods are prepared with great care. This restaurant
is set in up in a fully Indian concept and though the owner of the does not live there anymore but
still the restaurant has memories and possessions of royal lifestyle (Symons, 2013). This
restaurant has transformed the popularity of Indian street food to something the Australian
people admire. This research proposal will highlight in what way the restaurant will gain more
customer attraction and will be able to stand up in the competitive market as well. Sydney has
many Indian restaurants and to stay in the market by having increasing customers the restaurant
needs a planning (Jochim, Ottenbacher & Harrington, 2015).

Background of the restaurant:
Many components contribute to the increase of profit by evaluating the customer
behaviour. According to research, a large number of restaurant businesses face many problems in
the first few years of their starting (Vincent, 2017). Having a good idea is not the only
requirement for running or expanding a business. It always depends on many factors as well as
many components. However, before commencing the expansion, the restaurant must need to
focus on the type of business they want to perform further. (Withiam, 2013).
Problems faced by the restaurant:
The restaurant after adapting some innovative ideas in their business can lose its old and
existing customers because the restaurant cannot be sure that the customers will like the new

ambience as they like the old one. There will be another problem of capital as expanding a
business is similar to opening a new business, which needs a lot of capital. The other problem is
the present competition of the market (Lee, 2015). Another problem faced by the business is that
of the customer preference. Food quality will change when the customers are more, this is
because the restaurant will face problem in handling the orders of large number of customers at a
time. (Luckins, 2013). The restaurant also has to focus on the matter of employment because
when their services are expanded there will be need of extra work force. The management of the
restaurant have to work against the problem of customer choices and this can be done by
interaction with the customers (Taylor, 2015).

To discuss in what ways the expansion of the restaurant
How can the profit of the restaurant be increased?
What kind of food is more preferable by the customers?
What is the overall condition of the market?

2. How will the restaurant plan its expansion and increase their business profit?
Research methods:
The restaurant business of Sydney is already growing and expanding hence when
this particular restaurant is planning of expanding they cannot just executes the plan without any
prior steps. The research methodology is an important part of the study; this is because without

research there cannot be any expansion. The methods will justify the concepts that are discussed
in the study. The research aims on the frameworks performed for this topic. The research will
focus on who are the targeted customers, how will the business get hold of the market and the

hours of service the restaurant will provide, the impact on the society and lastly the customer
feedback. Without researching about the market, they will face many problems like the problem
of present competition of the market, requirement of the customers (Hogben & O'Callaghan,
2014). That is why there must be a perfect market research using qualitative and quantitative
methods are performed to have the required knowledge. The research will help the restaurant to
answer the questions like how will the business after its expansion differs from others of the
same kind, what is the purpose of the expansion, what is the present situation of the restaurant
business in Sydney and what is special about the expansion (Assaf & Barros, 2013). These
factors are related to the decision making process and hence it is very vital to have the proper
research so that the restaurant does not face any problem in the future. Having done the research,
the restaurant will not face problem to finalize the charge of the food, who are the competitor of
the market and how the planning is done. Research on the market will help the restaurant plan
how will the business after its expansion differs from others of the same kind, what is the
purpose of the expansion, and determine the present situation of the restaurant business in
