Introduction/Organization
The project is the re-construction of the website
http://www.instituteofknowledge.com.au/about and the sponsor of the website is Dr Syed
Ahmed. The changes in the website include the modification of the website logo along with
the changes in the home page of the site. The re-construction of the website will be done in
order to gain enhanced customer attraction and user experience levels. This will result in the
enhancement of the revenues and profits earned by the website.
Aim
The aim of the project is to re-construct the website to gain enhanced level of user and
customer experience.
Requirements of the website
Broadly, the website re-design project has category of requirements. The first one being
functional requirement and the second one being non-functional requirement. Functional
requirements cater to those requirements that the website or the application is expected to
perform and the non-functional requirement covers those aspects of the design that includes
how the application is expected to perform. First, the functional requirements would be
covered. These are elaborated below.
Functional requirements
 Clicking the logo on any page on the website will navigate back to the homepage.
 The logo will appear on top of the page on the left side on all possible renders of the
website.
 Any link to any object such as Word, PDF, PowerPoint will open in a new window on
all web-browsers.
 Footer will display relevant information such as
o Copyright information
o Link to the contact information
o Link to social accounts

o The footer will also include a sitemap of the entire site and will link to all
static pages of the website.
 The logo, content and images presented on the website will be in a format that allows
for a smooth resizing as and when the web-page is being resized.
 The website should allow users to create account based on their preferences. At the
same time, a registered user should be able to login into the account, change its
password and email as per their needs.
 A registered and logged in user should also be able to logout from the website.
 The Homepage should link to Tier-1 pages of the website.
 The tier 1 pages should link to Tier-2 pages of the website and so on.
 The website should have an optimized coding such that it consumes minimal
computational requirements of the client. These includes reduction in the usage of
bandwidth, the processor, the video ram as well as the ram of the client.
 The website should also be optimized to put minimal load on the server side as well
so that the server is not overloaded during unusual and spikes in traffic.
 The website should have an error-check mechanism built in and should be put to use
wherever possible. These includes areas such as form-input wherein any invalid entry
should be highlighted and a message should be shown to the user to the correct in the
invalid entry.
 The website should display a loading message or a waiting sign so as to let the user
know that they are supposed to wait when the contents of the page are being loaded.
 The website should also be capable of recovering from any voluntary or involuntary
errors and display messages and alerts accordingly.
 The website should be rendered appropriately on all modern web browsers and there
should not be any rendering or visual glitch in any of the modern web browsers
available on both desktop or mobile based devices.

System requirements
 The website should be redesigned using the latest available technologies on website
development and design. These includes the usage of HTML5 technology, the latest
MySQL technology for database, PHP7 for coding the logic of the website as well as
CSS3 for designing and styling of the website.
 The minimum system requirements for the website is as follows Ubuntu 19 as the
Linux server or any comparable modern Linux server, an SSD hosting with minimum
320 GB storage, a minimum of 4GB of Ram as well as gigabit-based bandwidth.
 The website must have caching enabled and that it should make use of CDN or
Content Delivery Network for performance optimization. This will allow the website
to speed up while reducing the load on the original servers as the content are cached
and distributed across a variety of servers in the world.
Domain & Security requirements
 The website needs to be hosted on the existing domain or a new domain or multiple
domains in the near future for localization purposes. If the domain does not already
follow the following conventions and norms, it should follow them and they include:
 The website should include a security certificate that not only declares the rightful
ownership of the company but also ensures that the website is encrypted. This means
that the end-to-end communication going through and forth from the user to the
website are encrypted.
 The website with ICANN domain registrar and that the domain should be legally
owned by the company.
 The website should also ensure that the Sarbanes-Oxley Act for security guidelines
for securing the website have been followed.
 The proposed new website should also follow the ISO 17799 as well as 27001
security standards for the website.
 The website should be protected against DDoS or Distributed Denial of Service based
attacks so that the uptime of website can be maximized and that the website should
not feature any unnecessary downtimes.

logging-in the access to edit the website is limited to only those regions which are
exclusively permitted by the administrators of the account.

 The backward and forward buttons of the website will be compatible with all modern
web-browsers.
 The web-page should be able to load under 7 seconds completely.
 The web-pages from tier-2 onwards should display a bread-crumb and that it should
allow people to know on what level they are on the website.
 The website should have consistent color scheme with respect to the brand of the
company.
 Font style, family and typeset should be consistent throughout the website.
 Headings, sub-headings, hyperlinks to external and internal pages should be clearly
demarcated.
 The images, graphics and any other non-textual content used on the pages would be
optimized wherever possible. This allows for reduction of the size of the page and
thus speeds up the loading time of the website.

 A common masthead would be present on all of the pages. This will help in
streamlining and structuring of the content also assist in keeping the consistency of
the design.
 The website layout would be consistent across all the pages on the site. This ensures
that the user has minimum memory load and does not feel non-standard irrespective

 The website redesign should ensure the website make use of acceptable font family on
the webpages and does not make use of non-standard or uncommon fonts which is not
only unfamiliar but also has rendering issues on the devices.

Website Re-construction Project
The total project activities will be carried out in a series of five phases. The first phase will be
the initiation and analysis of the project tasks and activities. It will run for 22 days and the
first activity will be the meeting with the project client. An initial investigation report will be
submitted at the end of this phase of the project. The second phase will be the planning phase
of the project which will be carried out for 16 days and all of the project plans will be
prepared in this phase with the submission of a project management plan at the end of this
phase. The third phase in the project will be the design and development phase which will run
for 86 days and provide the source code of the re-constructed website at the end of this phase.
The implementation and testing phase will be conducted next which will run for 39 days and
it will provide implementation report as an outcome. The closure report will be submitted as
the final deliverable and the closure phase will continue for 17 days.
