INTRODUCTION
Employability strategy is the plan which an organisation develops to retain their employees
and satisfy their needs so that operational productivity can be achieved. This type of strategy
helps an organisation in decreasing their employee turnover and presents an image of a
responsible employer (Criswell and et. al., 2016). The main aim of this report is to build an
understanding about the concept of tools and techniques which can enhance employability
strategy of an organisation. For this purpose, the case of KFC is considered in which this
company is currently working on improving the image and reputation as a responsible employer.
In this report, two tasks are undertaken. In the first task, various skills such as interpersonal,
time management and problem solving skills are analysed so that their people management of
KFC can be improved. In this task, various recommendations are also given which will provide
the assistance about how these skills can be developed and how these helps employees in
achieving personal responsibilities and performance objectives.
MAIN BODY

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is a large scale company which is highly concerned about
their brand image of being a responsible employer. This company requires identifying and
analysing various tools and techniques by which they can enhance and improve their position in
food industry sector. Some of these techniques are identified and explored below:
Employee survey – This is a technique by which KFC can conduct a survey for their
employees, in which they can ask from the employees about their needs and demands. These
needs can then be evaluated and efforts can be made to fulfil those needs. By this, the employees
will get satisfied and will provide their contribution towards the achievement of organisational
goals. This tool will helps KFC in improving their brand image as a responsible employer.
Rewards and recognition – This is another technique which can be used by KFC to retain
and satisfy their employees. Under this technique, all employees’ performance can be evaluated
and according to the performance, rewards and recognition such as promotion, incentives, bonus,
and wage raise can be provided to them. From these employees will contribute their efforts in

gaining the rewards by which productivity of the company will enhance. This technique will help
this company to enhance their image as responsible employer (Forsyth, 2016).
People management – This is another and most effective technique for managing and
satisfying the employees. Under this technique, the management of KFC can train their
employees to enhance and acquire few skills from which they will be able to enhance their
personality. These skills which must be improved are time management, interpersonal and
problem solving skills. All these skills will improve the personality of employees by which their
future growth prospects will enhance. By this way, employees will build a sense of responsibility
regarding the KFC and will perceive this company as a responsible employer.
There are various implications which people management process levy upon educating their
staff members. These implications upon every skill along with analysis of that skill are
conducted below:
Time management skills
These skills are the most crucial skills to learn in the current dynamic business environment.
It is important for employees of KFC to understand the value of time so that they can manage all
the tasks within time. The objective behind providing training about time management skills to
employees is not only to improve their productivity in KFC but also to provide them an ability
which will help them in their future growth prospects as well. These skills of time management
will allow employees to prioritise their work according to their goals. These skills will also
enable them to make appropriate decisions so that their chances for growth will improve. These
skills also help in strategic thinking, scheduling the activities and multi tasking.
There are various people management implications on KFC about educating staff. KFC
currently aims to be a responsible employer. In order to gain this aim, KFC should provide
training to their employees regarding how to manage their time and how different tasks can be
done at the same time (O'Toole, 2016). All these skills will help employees to manage their work
in given time period so that their productivity will enhance and this direct impact enhances
operations of the company. This skill will also develop a sense in employees that their employer
is concerned about their growth prospects and their abilities.

This skill will help employees in building ability and resolve the problems in a creative
manner. These skills are also associated with researching skills in which employees will be
trained how to resolve a situation using help of past situations through the way of effective
research. This skill will not only help employees in team working but also ensure enhance
emotional intelligence of individuals (Anderson and et. al., 2016). By these skills, employees
will get to know the importance of risk management and how their decisions can impact them
and people around them. Problem solving skills have the capability of improving the personality
of employees at 360 degrees by which employees of KFC will consider this company as
responsible employer as this company does not only spend upon the operations but on the
welfare of their employees as well.
Interpersonal skills
Interpersonal skills are those skills which define the behaviour and qualities of the
employees that is reflected when they interact with other employees within the organisation.
These are the soft skills which enable an individual to be successful as this facilitates the people
in effectively dealing the teams by cooperating with each other, to solve the issues faced for the
organisation mutually and many more. This skill in the employee of KFC will enable them to
have understanding among each other as with the help of this they can communicate effectively;
leaders of KFC can encapsulate ethics required at the workplace easily in them. In addition to
this it will positivity among the employees this will help them to reduce down the stress level. It
will have positive impact on the performance of the employees.
Better interpersonal skills leads to better people management as due to these managers can
exercise self awareness within the organisation that will make people to be emotionally
intelligent, how respect for each other and to be an active listener, being receptive towards the
feedbacks that can help them in improving their capabilities etc. All these ability of the
employees of the KFC will take them towards success as with this the managers can ensure the

will improve the overall organisational performance and thus their reputation (Koprowska,

KFC is so very concerned for improving their image as an employer and for this they have
adopted various techniques so that they can improve the satisfaction level of their existing
employees. This will enable them to be a better employer and it will serve various purposes of
KFC which includes:
Better employee relations: With better reputation and image of KFC they can have better
relation with their employees as they will have just and fair treatment for all, the job will not be
monotonous as the employees have better understanding with the managers and leaders which
will enable them to switch their roles. All these will motivate the employees of KFC that will
contribute to the overall performance.
Lower cost per hire: Turned around image of KFC will enable to foster the working
environment due to which their existing employees will encourages others outside the
organisation but are known to them to join KFC. This will reduce their cost of hiring as the
requirement of advertising and hiring any employment agencies will be reduced.
Better pool of talent: With better image of KFC they can attract exceptional talent for their
organisation that can enable them in resolving any issue faced by them innovatively. Also they
may bring in new ideas with which the organisation can flourish their performance (Zuhairi,
Ibrahim and Belayutham, 2018).
Engaged employees: Better image of the organisation bring better workplace environment
and opportunities for the people due to which they are engaged with the organisation. For the

Personal responsibility is the level of commitment of an individual which they aim while
setting up of their goals and objectives. It also leads to taking responsibility for the work done by
others and their actions. The employees who are responsible have to take various actions so that
they can fulfil all their responsibilities as this is part of their job. Personal responsibility is
considered to be the one which is assumed to have among each and every employee. To be
successful it is important that KFC develop this skill in all of their employees as with the help of
this skills they can understand the fact that if they take the credit for the success than they must
take responsibility for the failure as well (Belwal, Priyadarshi and Al Fazari, 2017). Performance
objectives are the targets which the individuals aim to achieve so that they can contribute to the
overall target of the organisation. These performance objectives are determined for a specific
period of time that can be quarterly, semi-annually, yearly etc. They are considered to be the
milestone to be successful as with the help of this a path can be decided by following which
goals and objectives can be achieved.
The human resource managers of KFC have adopted various techniques with the help of
which they can enhance the position of the KFC. Such technique will have direct impact on the
performance of the employees as the techniques includes people management, reward system
and employee survey. All three techniques focus upon the human capital of the organisation
which will contribute to the productivity of the employees. The benefits of improvement of the
image of KFC in context of performance objectives and personal responsibilities are given
below:
Positive inner self-learning: The behaviour of the people is dependent upon the
environment in which they are working and the opportunities they avail. With the help of people
management KFC facilitated their employees with various skills such as interpersonal skills,
time management etc. this will motivate their employees to contribute towards the objectives
with dedication and commitment so that they can achieve the overall goals and objectives. Better
understanding and communication with other within the organisation along with problem solving

skills will enables them to understand their roe and responsibility for the actions so taken by
them (Jackson and Oliver, 2018).
Self Improvement: With the help of skills so provided to the employees KFC can improve
the level of competence of undertaking various roles and responsibilities. It will make the
employees identify their strengths, weaknesses and limitations on which they have to work upon
so that they can accordingly plan their objectives that they aim to achieve. Turning around the
image of KFC leads to better opportunity to the people and better corporate culture. The skills
will help them to undertake such opportunities and bring improvement in their personalities.
Achievement Drive: This is associated with the level of desire and commitment of the
employees towards the achievement of the goals and objectives. Better people management in
KFC will make their employees committed and to put in extra efforts so that they objectives can
be achieved effectively. Also it will enable the people of the organisation to be responsible for
their actions as they are committed towards the success of the organisation and thus their
individual success.
RECOMMENDATIONS
On the basis of this report it can be analysed that the KFC will have various benefits of
their improved image and reputation. They have adopted various techniques such as employees
surveys, people management, time management with the help of which they can improve their
capabilities of dealing with the changes taking place. But there are various other strategies and
techniques with the help of which they can improve their image such as:
Allowing the employees to participate in the decision making activities of the
organisation. Their opinions and ideas can be taken which can help them in resolving the
issue and motivating them (Hurley, 2017).
Opportunity must be provided to the employees where they can use their skills such as
they must be allowed to interact with the customers so that they can take their feedbacks
with the help of which the management can formulate various policies.
CONCLUSION
It is concluded from the above report that the image of the organisation is very important for
them to be successful in various terms. With the help of this they can make their employees
efficient enough and capable of working with the organisation for long. This make their existing

opportunities. But for this the company need to adopt various techniques so that they can
improve their image such as with the help of employees survey they can take employees
opinions about what can be done, with people management they can make their organisational
