INTRODUCTION
Employability skills is defined as transferable skills that is required in an individual in order to
become an employable person. It include knowledge, skills, experience, traits of a person that
develop a capability to perform activities in an effective manner (Arnold and Boggs, 2019).
Professional development is termed as a process of developing & enhancing capabilities of staff
members by providing them training and development sessions and to educate them that directly
leads to increase in effectiveness of employees prevailing within the company. It help companies
to maintain an effective relationship among employees and to develop a positive culture at
workplace. For the present report, KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) is chosen as a base company.
It is a fast food restaurant chain and specialize in fried chicken. The company was founded in the
year 1930 and it’s headquarter is located at Kentucky, US. It is the second largest food chain
globally and offer services in more than 136 countries. The present report include two parts. In
the first part, the tools and techniques used to identify performance and market position. Along
with this, there is a discussion about interpersonal skills, time management skills and problem
solving skills. Moreover, personal and professional development growth is cover in the report.
The second part of report is a reflective essay that involves skills audit & system to analyse
which skill is require to develop in an employee.

There are various tools and techniques that hep an organisation to gain knowledge about
their position in the market place. By the assistance of this, companies is able to make
development and gain higher growth. The tools and techniques are as follows in relation to KFC

SWOT analysis: It is a framework which is adopt by an organisation in order to identify
their strength, weaknesses, opportunities & threats as well. By the assistance of this, the higher
authorities gain an insight regarding their market position and competitors prevailing at

analyse their market position which are as follows:
Strength: one of the major strength of KFC is it stands as second best global brand within
the food sector due to which it is easily able to attract more number of people and earn higher
profits. It is the market leader globally between companies that featuring and offering chicken as
primary product. In addition to this, it recipe attract more number of people that includes 11
spices and herbs.
Weaknesses: The Company is still not able to develop effective marketing strategy which
is the main reason it lack in market. Another weakness of KFC is high employee turnover rate so
it is important for company to fulfil needs of employees so that they did not leave the
organisation.
Opportunity: KFC has the opportunity to establish new product within the chicken range as it
will help company to increase sales and earn higher profits (Clarke, 2018). In addition to this, the
demand of healthier food is increases day by day which is consider as an opportunity for KFC.
Moreover, KFC can start home meal delivery so that they can raise the number of orders which
has a positive effect on its profitability.
Threats: One of the biggest competitor of KFC is McDonald’s that impact negatively on
its overall performance and market position. Currency fluctuation and Legal actions on KFC is
threat for company which might effect on its reputation in a negative manner.

Customer feedback: customers are the key asset for every company due to which
organisation gain higher success and growth as well. It is important for an entity to ensure that
customer needs is fulfil as it develop positive image in mind of customers and also spread
positive word of mouth. In relation to KFC, it take feedback from customer after giving service

has helped me in development of some positive appraisals.

that are being assigned to a individual (Smircich, 2017). The various skills that I personally

of time. So, it can be said that I have realised that job description and all the skills that I have
acquired has actually changed the way completely in which different functions are being
performed by me in the course of my business transactions.

Performance appraisal can be said to be a structured interaction in which the subordinate
and supervisor interact in order to examine the performance of subordinate throughout. All the
skills of employee are mentioned in this and then all their strengths and weaknesses are
identified. Also the skills required to be developed in a subordinate are looked upon in a prison.
However, in most of the organisations appraisals are directly or indirectly helpful in determining
the rewards and outcomes an employee must get. Through the appraisal better performing
employs get pay increases, promotions and bonus.
The above mentioned skills audit is performed by me on myself. There are a number of
skills which are better than the others. Also, there are some other skills which I need to develop.
All these are directly or indirectly related to the appraisals which I will be receiving in future by
KFC.
My complaint handling skills are very poor. Due to this the company may never give me
a chance to be a manager because all the complaints of customers directly handled by the
manager. This skill which I lack may lead to delay in my promotion in this organisation.
Persuasion skills I own are very good. This might help me in becoming employee of the month.
My superiors may notice how easily I can persuade customers and develop their interest.
However, I lack in decision making skills which is very important for development. This
might also be a barrier in my promotion. My superiors cannot trust me with the team because it
is necessary for a team leader to take immediate decisions. Since I don’t have the skills, they
won’t make me a team leader. It is very necessary for me to work on this skill of mine.
There are a number of skills I am very good at. Empathy, problem solving skills,
technical skills, time management skills, communication skills and so on are some of best skills I
possess. These skills will lead to my performance appraisal enhancing my pay, incentives and
bonuses.
If I work on all the skills that I lack in, I may easily be eligible for promotion in the
company. I need to take required steps in order to make sure that my performance appraisal is
positive and both personal as well as organisational objectives are fulfilled by me.
