INTRODUCTION
Organizational behaviour is defined as academic study of ways individual act within
teams. Principles of this concept primarily effort to make ventures operate more efficiently and
effectively. It gives detailed insight on how applicants behave and work in workplace, it aid
business develop an comprehending of aspects that can inspire, encourage and motivate workers
as well as help to enhance performance level even better. The current assignment will explain
differentiation between role leader and function of a manager. It will describe two different
management theories & concepts that will explain and differentiate role of leader and manager
function in company. Furthermore, this report will clarify understanding of situational and
contingency leadership approaches with reference to manager at workplace.
MAIN BODY
Differentiate between role of leader and function of manager
A leader is one who knows way, goes way and reflects the way. He or she is accountable
for managing work of workforce.
A manager is a person who is accountable for monitoring and administering an company
or team of staff.
Roles leader-
Leader in TESCO company play important role by motivating and managing
performance of each worker at workplace (Wei and et.al., 2018). Leader by communicating with
employees and solving their issues motivate candidates in effective manner, which is quite
beneficial for business environment in term of increasing inclusive workplace and enhancing
productivity level rather than before.
Function of manager-
The functions of manager in TESCO is also playing significant role, they make effective
plan to manage the performance and work activities of applicants.
Role of leader Function of manager
Leader role is to encourage staff by solving
their issues.
Function of manager is to develop effective
tactics to manager work of staff.
Leader implements plan and methods produced
by manager to build strong team in workplace.
Manager function is to analyse current
situations and environment and then develop

Differentiation between manager function and leader role by applying range of concepts and
theories
Situational leadership approach is quite beneficial for a leader as it help them to boost
productivity level by analysing situation that affect staff abilities and performance in negative or
may be positive manner. By using this approach role of leader can be differentiating, for example
leader role is to understand needs of existing and new staff members (Thompson and Glasø,
2018).
Contingency approach defines that function of manager which is quite different from
leader role. It define that style of management is rely on context of condition, at that time
manager adopt a single style. According to this theory, function of manager is to determine
which plan or process will help to enhance performance of workers and suits specific situation.
CONCLUSION
From above analysis, it has been concluded that manager and leader playing vital role in
growth and long term success of TESCO. They both work towards building strong team at
workplace who are working for achieving set aims and objectives of company. Furthermore, it
has been summarized that by using contingency and situational leadership theories, leaders roles
and managers functions has been effectively explained and differentiated.
