INTRODUCTION
Leadership is a quality which helps in motivating and encourage an employee towards
the completing a task in more effective manner. Leader guides their workers to the right
direction. It helps in inspiring people with effectively and efficiently manner. The leadership
helps to gain or adopt knowledge and deliver to the company's employees. There are some
different methods of leadership which helps to motivate the employees. An organisation has to
make team that lead the people with an effective manner. The Purple Mail Company (PMC) is
the biggest firm of courier in United Kingdom. It helps in leading the management and
administration of the company. They provides couriers to their customers. The company is one
of the popular couriers agency in the country (Alloway, Bibile and Lau, 2013). The purpose of
this report is to develop skills and knowledge which is needed for working with and leading
other people. It also helps to understand the importance of selection and recruitment of right
person at right job.
TASK 1
1.1 Prepare documentation of recruitment and selection process
Human resource management is an important aspect of an organisation. The Purple mail
company recruit those candidate who have high skills, creativity, innovative thinking and
business knowledge. Recently, the company faces leadership, management and administration
problems. The human resource department must select those workers who are talented in each
field. The recruiting process has require documentation of new members and they have to follow
rules and regulations of the company.
Documentation to recruitment and selection process
ļ‚· Approval of recruitment- The Purple Mail company need a new members who are
skilled and educated to the job profile. After that they send city link of a particular
employee to the HR department and approved the recruitment request through online.
ļ‚· Job description- Job description is an important aspect of an organisation. The
company authority can approved the position of an employee. As a HR manager, my
duty and responsibility to place right person at right job in the company.
ļ‚· Advertisement- An advertisement is an important aspect of the recruitment and
selection process. The human resource department has to take approval of company

director to post an advertisement (Arnold, Fletcher and Molyneux, 2012). There are
some different media that includes newspaper, online advertisement and electronic
media etc. As a HR manager, my duty is to advertise the recruitment and selection
process on different media.
1.2 Impact of legal, regulatory and ethical to recruitment and selection process
The rules and regulations affects the recruitment and selection process of the company.
As a HR manager, my duty is to aware about laws which impacts the recruiting process. The
impact of legal, regulation and ethical on the selection and recruiting process are as follows:
ļ‚· Impact on age regulation- The recruitment and selection process provides some benefits
to old and young employees. If any HR manager has give special attention to these age
group then he/she will break the laws and it is against the provision.
ļ‚· Impact of right to employment- As a HR manager, I need to check the candidate
background profile and also check if is any criminal record.
ļ‚· Impact of gender discrimination act- Purple mail company should manage the gender
discrimination act (Azhar, 2011). Any candidate who is match for the job profile, the
purple mail has to recruit her/him and can not bias with their gender.
ļ‚· Impact of nationality- If any company advertisement is said that nationality is
important, then they will break the nationality regulation act. Any candidate who is
legally work in UK and get job in the country with taking permission.
ļ‚· Impact of employment statement- The new member has to get employment statement
that includes leaves, salary, working hours and time schedules.
1.3 Part of the selection process
The next step of Purple mail company's, HR manager should take part in the selection
process. In purple mail company makes losses for some years and their recruitment and selection
process are very poor which is lack some important balances. As a HR manager, I need to
maintain the selection procedures and helps in various task to their employees. There are certain
things in which human resource department take part in process of selection as under:
ļ‚· Selected the recruitment and selection team- The human resource department helps to
selects and recruit an talented employees. The purple mail company has to select the
three new staff members. As a manager, I need to select new recruitment team and in
each team one director must be exist. And they take interviews for new members.

ļ‚· Short list the candidates- The company take interviews then they need to short listing
the selected candidates (Bolman and Deal, 2014). The name of the short listing
candidates are given to the HR manager and they arrange the next round of interviews of
selected employees.
ļ‚· Taken interviews- After that human resource manager needs to take interview of short
listed candidates. As a manager, I will ask some questions which analyse the employee
skills and knowledge.
ļ‚· Final appointment- This is the final step in which company's manager given
appointment letter to the selected candidates. Then he/she join the job profile of an
organisation.
1.4 My contribution to the selection process
As a HR manager, I need to prepare some documentation for the selection process. Then
I post online advertisement to attract new candidates and also join the recruitment and selection
team of purple mail company. I take interviews of new candidates and select the skilled
employees. The selected candidates need to join the company as soon as possible and take
responsibility regarding their job profile.
Impact of leadership- Working with and lead people is an important part of an
organisation. A leader and manager is similar to each other. The leaders is backbone of their
team and manager is the backbone of the company. There are some different types of leadership
such as positive and negative leadership. Purple mail company has to adopts some leadership
techniques which provides to maintain their employees.
2.1 Skills and attributes needs for leadership
The purple mail company's director take decision to open the branches for expand the
business. They need to appoint a person who is responsible to manages the branches and its
expansion. The person who is hire for expand their business he/she must have a skill and
attributes of a leader or manager. There are certain things which describes why the person have
these skills and attributes are as follows:
ļ‚· If the person is responsible to expand the branches in all over the country then he/she
should have some skills and characteristics of not only the manager (Chi, Lan and
Dorjgotov, 2012). By this he can not manage the employees in effective way.

ļ‚· The person who appoints he/she have attributes of leaders and managers. If a person can
not have some traits or skills of leadership then he will not became a perfect leader
(Walumbwa, Avolio and Aryee, 2011). He should have leader quality because it helps to
maintain the new expansion in a proper way.
ļ‚· The company's appointed a person who have a quality to manages the employees who is
in new branches and also lead them in right direction.
2.2 Difference between leadership and management

participated in the decision making procedures and they encouraged by this process. If
company's manager has to adopt autocratic leadership then he will enhance the dissatisfaction to
employees. In autocratic leadership, the HR manager have to take responsible decision making
process. If the manager has adopt the paternalistic theory then it will also raise the dissatisfaction
among the workers in high level (Drennan, 2012). Only managers takes necessary decisions for
an organisation and workers are depends on managers activities. But recently employees wants
to take decision of their own work and also get freedom in the company.

There are different motivation methods for employee motivation that helps to achieve the
organisational objectives and goals. The Maslow's need hierarchy theory that includes X & Y
theories. The purple mail company adopts the Maslow's needs theory that motivate their workers
to get the target objectives. The company has to follow the needs hierarchy theory are as follow:
ļ‚· Reasonable payment- An organisation should provides reasonable salary to all
employees (Hallinger and Bryant, 2013). If workers get his willing salary then he/she will
automatically motivated. This is the duty of manager to satisfy the needs and wants of an
employees. The workers should take reasonable salary to their managers that enhance the
performance.
ļ‚· Treat all employees on equal basis- The manager should treat their employees on equal
basis and motivate their workers. It helps to fulfil the needs and wants of the
organisation. The purple mail company should follows the methods of motivation to
encourages the employees. As a manager I need to satisfy all wants of an employees that
helps in achieving organisational objectives and goals. The manager needs to treat all
employees on equal basis such as caste, age, gender, race and nationality.

The company has to maintain the team work with an effective manner. The team
members provides skills and knowledge towards the goals and objectives. If a leader is not
responsible for success and failure then they need to improves their team members skills and
abilities. The success met when all the member work together in an effective manner. There are
certain things which identify the success of the purple mail company are as under:
ļ‚· Effective growth- It is an important factor of team work that occurs in an organisation. It
help to complete the task and work in an effectively and efficiently way. An individual

the goal and objectives if they work together in the workplace.
ļ‚· Establish employee relationship- The employees should maintain their relationship with
an effective manner. The Purple mail company needs to make an effective members then

members and make confidence in an organisation. They should analyse the ideas and
thoughts towards their products. The member maintained the employees relationship in
the company.
3.2 Importance of working team as leader and manager
Purple mail company has to face situations in an organisation. The leader and manager
should solve the issues and problems that occurs in the company. The team works in effectively
in any situation that helps to achieves the goals and objectives (Morrison, 2010). There are some
role of a leader and manager are as under:

employees. A person who thinks positive in one situation and negative in another
situation. He control and manage the works of an organisation.

also plan and monitor the performance are as under:

and development in all over the world. The company needs to analyse the new workers skills and

to achieves goals and objectives in an organisation. The person should analyse the

environment (Terkel, 2011). Then the employee need to evaluate the necessary process that helps
to provides skills and knowledge which is essential for the company. Leadership is the act which
provides trust among their employees and managers needs to build confidence of the workers in
an organisation.
Management has to develop new plans and strategies that are important for running the
business in an effectively manner. They need to produce and evaluates the future and current
scenario which helps to manage the profits and production. So that the leader is similar to the
managers and its function are to manage and controls the organisation activities in an effective
way. The needs assessment helps to analyse the customers behaviours and attitudes in the
marketplace. As a manager I need to improves the management functions and activities which is
necessary for the development and growth in an organisation. The company helps to monitors
the performance and evaluate the factors of an employees in an organisation (Thompson, 2012).
The leaders also analyse the basis aspects of training and development that helps to evaluate the
talented worker.

As per the mentioned project report can be conclude that the process of selection and
recruitment of a new staff members in an organisation. Also prepare document which analyse the
whole procedures. The purple mail company identify the impact of legal, rules and regulations
which affects the recruitment and selection process. The company also evaluate the selection
process that includes hire team, appointment, interviews and short list the talented employees.
Then identify the skills and attributes of a leaders and managers which helps to expand the
business areas. An organisation has also understand the leadership types that includes democratic
and autocratic in which company use democratic approach for the workers. Employees also
develop relationship with their manager and leaders that enhance the growth of the company. As
a manager, I play a different role such as coordinator, team worker, investigators,motivator and
finisher.
