Working with and leading people is a concept of Human resource management that deals

overall objectives. Purple mail company is one of the leading courier company operating in
UK.The report has been prepared to highlight recruitment, selection and retention procedure to
be followed by cited organization to overcome management and administrative challenges. Clear
understanding of leadership style to be adopted and considerable impact on overall performance
of organization has been provided. Management executive is assigned with the task of
motivating team members to promote the concept of team integration. Lastly, the report focuses
on analysing personal needs for development of career of individual so that the cited
organization is back on the track by aligning with effective management and leadership style

1.1 Document for selecting and recruiting the new staff member
As per the current situation of Purple Mail (PM) company, the firm is facing leadership
and management issues at workplace. This has resulted in affecting the revenue generation
capacity of the organization in a negative manner. In order to sort out the defined issues, the
management needs to recruit and select a marketing manager. For the recruitment and selection
of the marketing manager certain documents are required which are stated below.

the cited firm. There are certain laws are explained below.
Equal pay act, 1970: On the basis of this act, the management of PM company requires
maintaining equality in the pay of a men and women. Or the organization can provide salary as
per the qualification and knowledge of an individual. This results in lowering down the
discrimination on the basis of equal pay (Ang, 2012).

consist of qualifications, hobbies and interest. Further, I asked questions with reference to the
concerned subject in order to judge little subject knowledge of the candidate. Besides, this I
asked about the past designation of the candidate which helped me to know about the past
experiences. Later on, third level was conducted by me where we negotiated for the salary.
Further, I have negotiated with the candidate which helped me to know more about the
candidate. Further, I have discussed about the legal and regulatory policies of the company. This
helped the employees to know the company' polices in legal terms. This has created a positive
image in the mind of that candidate. The whole process of recruitment has remained successful
and the employee carry good experience (Hellman, 2012).
1.4 Own contribution in the recruitment process
There is major contribution being played by me in the recruitment and selection process.
As a HR manager of the PM company, there are different areas of the candidate were required to
analysed because the organization is facing different issues. However, the abilities of the
candidate were required to judged effectively. I played an indispensable role while judging the
candidate. I evaluated his general knowledge and also his E.Q. So that his behaviour could be
predicted with another employees. Besides this, I have evaluated the skills and qualification
needed for the present designation offered by the Pm company (HU and FANG, 2010).
In context to above, I supervised the whole interview procedure and evaluated his ability
for the present designation of marketing manager. I found his qualities and skills will assisted
this company to sort out the issues faced by the organization. It is also seen that the company is
facing continuous losses which can overcome with the help of effective supervision. However,
for the present company situation, it requires good candidate who can get the company on correct
track. Besides this, I analysed the behaviour of the candidate and his willingness to work with
PM company. This helped me to judge the employee in an effectual manner.

2.1 Skills and attribute needed for leadership
It takes a lot of time for improving leadership skills and attributes to achieve overall
objectives and goals. Improved skills and efficiency have a positive impact on organizational
performance as more and more efforts are laid by leaders. Following is a list of skills and
attributes that must be possessed by an efficient leader.

Innovative: Leaders at cited organization must enhance their innovative skills so that timely
guidance is provided to team members according to changing situations. The personnel must
be innovative to design new plans and structures so that employees are able to deliver best of
their skills.
Monitoring: Examining performance of each team member is an important role to be
performed by an efficient leader. Complicated structure of cited organization can be
simplified if activities are constantly supervised.
Evaluation: After analysing performance of each individual team member, inferences must
be drawn for concluding effectiveness of efforts laid by team members. Important decisions
regarding conducting training campaigns are taken after a need has been highlighted for
providing the same (Costello, Bouras and Davis, 2007).
Development: An efficient leader must be capable enough for providing ample of
opportunities to employees so that they get an opportunity to enhance their career
